I forgot about the baiting, the fire engines wouldn’t come without the police.
Just shows, we talk about ‘the youth of today…. ‘, but really not a lot has changed. Thry just find different crap to do.
They have vanished for me too. They was there honest.
I can see them fine. Chrome on Android
Wow, this could be the match that starts ww3
Lol, yes it dries my skin out, so some form of hand cream is a good idea.
She knows JC. she’s a team player ?
I just said the 3 cos the post before me said 3, 3 simplifies it. Their are many splinters of even Christianity, and may of Islam and probably 100s of others. There is one that think the old Duke of Ed is their God.
Tbh religion is something I can’t wrap my head around, or rather I get the religions side of it, I don’t understand how sane folk from the 21C can beilive in it, and to the point of willing Ness to did for it.
For me it’s a puzzle I think about quite often, and I’ve never been able to square that round whole.
So to me the is 0 religions, just a lot of con men selling fake stories, admittedly some good, but they have had 1000s of years to perfect them.
I’m totally with you, they need tighter regulation, but it’s clear that’s not going to happen. To many morons in the NRA.
So parking that aside, it makes no sense for kids to be left unprotected.
I can’t see either way, that by the time the police turn up the perpetrator/s would be alive. These things don’t last long in reality. And if the teachers have any sense they side seems will be stowed.
It’s not the perfect solution, but better than them not having weapons. Also it’s not about them having weapons, it’s about them potentially having weapons. That alone is a massive deterrent.
Let’s say you do get a mad man hot a school, class one is dead, the teach has no time, but if the teacher in class two has a side arm, they can be ready, to drop the guy as soon as he enters the door.
I’d have all teachers be trained in the best ways to do this, or at the least the offer of training. Just so again, it sows doubt in the mind of a potential attacker. If they think the features are potentially armed, plus had a few hours of training it protecting a door, and managing kids. I’d have drills in class like we have fire drills. Though you couldn’t spring the drill on everyone lol, that could end badly.
What youre after is making you not the softest target. Let the church and the oaps be that. After all they have lived their life, and want to go to God anyway.
I’m coming across as very right wing in this thread, but I’m very liberal irl. I don’t know if it is cos I’m ex service, but I’m forever weighing up my options wherever I go, I can’t sit in a public place with my backs to doors for instance.
Also the wife sleeps closest to the door. This is the oppersite to what most others would do. However my rational is, if someone was to creep up to our room, they would hit/bat/stab/etc.. The wife (lol sounds bad) however, if they was to knock me out, stab me, I cant them defend the rest of the home, so me being the first contact is actully bad tactically, as if I’m knocked out, who then stops the kids being murdered? The wife would be taking one for the team, so to speak, them hopefully I’d wake before they got me.
We also have one of the smaller bedrooms, ad it’s the first on the landing, so any invader would come in my room first. This is how my strange mind works. I’d feel much safer if I could have a side arm velcrod on my side of the bed.
This maybe a hangover from where I grew up, as burglaries is very rare where I live. We don’t even lock the front and back doors. We’ll we do the front through the day, ad parcel men have let the dogs out a few times, so now we lock the door when we go out, just so the dogs don’t escape.
Anyone heard anything? It’s been over a week now!
I hope it wasn’t good coffee!
Minimin you want to take the key caps off and clean it out with 99% alcohol, failing that pound shop nail varnish makes a perfect substitute.
Does that laptop have drain holes, to channel spills through the chassis? If so just cleaning the keys will do.
If not, you’ll want to stop it down, and get some 99% alcohol, (ebay is cheap), make a bath in a small tub and wash the internals out, as coffee will leave behind a residue.
As you pulled the battery there should be no real damage atm. I’d strip it down, good time to de dust the innerds, and alcohol bath it all. Your only real issue may be a hdd, I’d defo bath the hdd a couple of times to work any coffee out of it. If it’s an ssd I’d just wipe the exterior down.
If it was a minor spill and the lappy has no drain holes, I’d still pop the bottom off and At least look to see if anything is on the hdd.
If it is minor and you have drain holes, I’d just pop the keys off and clean under them with alcohol or nail varnish remover with a few ear buds.
If you don’t have the confidence to take a lappy apart, you could dunk the lappy into an alcohol bath, dip soak 5 mins thank out, dry and repeat 3 times. Open the screen up, and just bath the bottom/base half.
Though a quick youtube search or ifixit search should find a good teardown video of your product.
Good luck. I wouldn’t chance inverting the battery until you have checked it out. Alcohol is safe as it pushed any water out and then evaporates. Pick a good 99.9% food/surgical grade isopropyl alcohol. A tenner should get you 2litres delivered.
Reminds me of my childhood in the 80s. I grew up on an estate what had a liking for joy riding and burning cars out. Every Thursday Friday and Saturday night at least one car would be burnt out on the playing fields our house backed onto.
When later passed my test, and later moved to north Wales, my insurance premiums Half. I had to buy a van as my first car as insurance is cheaper than cars. Even them the 10 year old plus escort van was £750 a year, a similar aged cavalier I was given was almost 3k to insure. So I never bothered.
I moved to Wales and the insurance was just over £300 for the van, and evey car I’ve had since has hovered between £280 and £320, doesn’t matter if it’s an old beater or brand new, always the same year in year out. So in real terms my insurance has gone down, by not going up in value in 15 years. Still it never seems to feel that way.
My windows have been open since about mid Feb, thry closed when the snow came, though my boys (16) room windows have been open for so long one doesn’t shut anymore. I asked him if he wanted it sorting, and he looked at me like I was mad. And said why.
He had asthma and his window has been open since about 2005 or 6. He likes the fresh air, the temperature doesn’t bother him either, as I’m constantly telling him to put cloths on, he walks around in his bills.
24degrees is just bonkers. It’s currently 21 in my bedroom, (I’m watching the footy in peace) and it’s killing me.
Well yes BL I would agree their. But I’d add these are vulnerable people themselves for a number of reasons, and sadly one vicar then takes advantage of these people and get them to go and do their dirty work
Like agree about religion too, if we dropped it tomorrow, we would be 2/3s the way to a safer world. Then we would just have the religion of economics to sort out. In The USA capitalism is like a religion to them, socialism they see as communism under a differnt name. the middle east seems to hate deplomacy, and any sort of economic set up that doesn’t involve selling daughters for cattle. So even with out religion, I doubt we would see eye to eye.
What we need is Elon Musk, to find Martians bring them back here and tell the world they are coming to get us. Then we may finally put this useless tribal crap behind us for good.
Given we all live in one big sim, maybe our dear admin overlord will chuck us a Martian shaped curveball soon.
The pipes are in place, only a 235km section need finishing. You get one guess where that section lies.
I can name one democratic state Syria. Hence why we couldn’t just invade them. But for the reasons of this discussion about pipelines, it doesn’t matter what type of state it is. A proper grim dictatorship has one big plus, they can get shit done. And all the states involved are dictatorships discuised as sovereign states (I think).
Iraq is the massive F up in the area, but that to was done for similar reasons, with similar underhand tactics. Yes sadam probably did gas his own people, and the world a better place with out him. But at least he kept his killing in his own back yard. There are far worse state actors out there. Sadly we are on the wrong side of good.
What is worse, at least in the 15 and 1600s at least we ravaged the world in the name of the uk, now we are just pawns in others games. What’s best is our main puppet master, doesn’t even like us lol.
The facts are clear, we are doing America are doing OPEC bidding, and we are the just going along for the ride, probably for some future leverage with USA, or maybe we have big future promises from OPEC on gas prices. Either way, is it really worth the loss of life out there?
For to long we (as a specise) have fought over imaginary boarders, we need to forget nation tags, and remember we are all human. A Syria child isn’t worth less than a British America or Russian. Fuck OPEC, America, Russia, and even UK. We should walk away and look after our self’s and keep out nose out of others quarrels. The killing isn’t worth it.
If we wasn’t destroying the middle east for the last 100 years (or more), we wouldn’t have extremist wanting to blow us up.
I can’t defend these guys that take it upon themselves to blow up an arena or mow a load of tourists down, but how else can they feel they are getting us back, or focusing the world’s media on the issues? They have no country or army to fight a toe to toe war, so extreme measures is all they can do.
This started with us messing in their pond, not the other way round. I can’t condone thier actions, but I can understand why.
What annoys me the most is when people are so blinded by patriotism they can’t see past that the media churns out. Everything is someone else’s fault, not ours. Yer right.
Non of them points seem better than a total unarmed class of defenseless children.
What they could do is lock all schools down like prisons I suppose. But life comes down to brass tacks, and it’s cheaper to arm the kids.
No one is saying the teachers have to have a gun, that’s the beauty of firearms, the threat or chance the other person may have one, is usually enough of a deterrent. I’ll say again, how many police departments are shot up? Very few, the reason is headlines, these insane people think if I burst into a school or church I can kill 30 40 50 ….. Before I’m taken down, that will make a statement. Going into a police dept and shooting one cop, and being filled with lead, just isn’t as ‘romantic’ to such people.
I’m sure we would say the exact same, if any of our bases came under some form of attack. I don’t see an issue with that.
However Russias main purpose in Syria isn’t the bases. They are there as a side effect, of their partnership with Syria. Russia goal with the place is to stop Syria giving OPEC space to run gasoline into Turkey and on to EU. The US goal is to run the pipes into Turkey for OPEC (Saudi)
Here is a daily mail article from 2013. Below, there is many others with links to offical minutes. Now if you go back 12months before that you will see the asads treated like royalty, all the big wigs wanted to be seen with the glamorous couple, headlines about how good their land is and the way its run. Then look at headlines about the asad set up just a few short months after the USA is offered the bank of Saudi to cover all costs of an US invasion.
Given that would be totally illegal to invade a democratic nation, a media propaganda war started, followed by UK and US financed, and trained ‘freedom fighters’. They turned out to be isis! This freedom fighter group was set up and financed from Qatar another OPEC state.
The whole thing is BS and WE are the bad actors. Russia are no better, we are both fighting a proxy war over a sliver of land in the south (iirc) of Syria. We only swapped sides, and offered assad support once Russia pointed out how illegal we was being. We swapped thinking in some world we could help put down the rebel army (at least publicly) and Bargain a way into access to the land for our ‘help’. When Russia had that already sown up. So we have been financing the ‘freedom figters’ (isis members mostly from Afghan and Iraq) trying to hedge our bets.
The whole middle east is a mess that all stems from the end of WW1 and the collapses of the Ottoman Empire
The proposed pipelines.if the assad stay in, the Russia pipe is laid, if the ‘freedom fighters’ win OPEC gets their line instead.

Ed why would a police officer with a weapon scare you. Granted if she pointed it at you, that would scare anyone, but I’d bet she hasn’t.
I’d say most normal police officers would be more scared of needing to pull it. And many would only pull the trigger if the really had to. And there will be a large group that would just hide.
This is why paid school security isn’t going to protect life, it’s a footnote in their role. One they never think would happen, and are just happy to be employed.
I’d rather the teacher that has a bond with their pupils was armed. Most classrooms have one door, so said teachers can’t run, it’s fight or die in that situations, most of us don’t want to die.
The school security guard is unlikely to be in a one door room, so they get the option of fight or flight. Most sane people (including the same teacher above) would choose flight. So I wouldn’t call the guard a coward, I’d call him normal. If he was stuck in a room, I bet he would of gone down shooting. As any sane person would. Except my wife, she is terrified of wepons.
I took her shooting once, she wouldn’t even hold one, and would jump out her skin evey time a shot went off. That was about 2000. But my wife is scared of everything, she won’t even stay in a house, even ours, alone at night. It wasn’t a big issue for years, but now the kids will be moving on soon! Good job we still have the 9yo.
Trump would be no use, his little hands can’t reach the trigger.
Yes Richard, I never used my sun roof back in the day. Always been an aircon person. My FiL will sit there sweating and will refuse to put it on, so I leave his on every time I borrow his car lol.
And yes aircon demists the windows the fastest. As a sweater my windows most up fast, as soon as I turn the aircon off. I overheat far to easily, I get uncomfortable if the house is over 17 degrees, so in the car with a fleece or coat on, I start leaking in December after 5 mins in the car if the aircon isn’t on.
The wife used to hate this, now she is worse than me for getting hot, which is a full 360 to when I met her. She was one of them what would walk in a house, and sit on the flaw next to the fire.
Our (electric) fire last been on for 2 or 3 winters now. It was tried about 3 days into the last snowfall, but it didn’t start (probably a fuse) but no one is bothered, so I’m not bothered to fill it. The fire looks nice, that’s why we bought it, so it will stay. Maybe be swapped for a burner in the summer, or next.
Ed. Before we messed with Syria, that place was super stable and often held up as a beacon on how a secular state could work in the middle east. 100% education and free health care. The assads was treated like Hollywood celebs by the Americans and the UK, untill the US was offered a deal it couldn’t refuse by Saudi.
6 months later, you would think the Assad ragtime was worse than the devil. The oppersitie seems to be true.
We imported many fighters to the region and started this, they was freedom fighters back then. Until Russia pointed out WE was in the wrong helping a faction against a democraticly elected body. We publicly pulled back. The press dropped it like a hot stone. 6 months later, the freedom fighters was rebranded as isis.
Are we still funding them, some evidence points to we are? Or did we just lose control of the monster we created? Or is this plan B?
When it comes to oil gas and money nothing surprises me.
Was thinking about this in the night, and I cant see why Syria would do this, as it’s basically an open invention to the US and UK to March on them. Same for Russia.
So my mind went all tin hat and I come up with this; What if the Russian ex spy was actually helping the brits at Porton down, either helping create or bringing them some. In the process he accidentally got infected, went home and infected his girl.
The plan all along could of been to get this toxin that can be linked to Russia, just to use it in Syria as a pretext to march on them.
Though I must admit i have no idea what was used in Syria. But it’s a start of a cracking novel.
