We are spoilt in Wales, our parking is free. Just like our prescriptions.
They did try start pay and display, but it only lasted about 6 months and stopped. That was probably 7 years ago. Lucky for us, as over the last five years, I use it a lot.
I never use the wife’s blue badge. I’ll always drop her at the door, then park up and catch up, she doesn’t move that quick.
Tbh I’m not to sure on the rules of the badge. And I’m fully able to walk etc, so I don’t mind dropping her, and leaving the space for someone that does have mobility issues.
Can you not still just call the automated line to get your licence reactivated. In the xp and vista days, I had the same licence run through about 6 pc “refeshes” maybe more .
once the automated line bounced me to a person, but they just activated it. I suppose wit the way Ms ‘fingerprints’ out pc to generate it activation code, it’s harder to get away with, my hdd broke.
I know waze is supported on Android auto, and that does the speed limit of the road, your current speed, and iirc will give you a nudge if your going to quickly
I don’t know if here maps works on AA. But I defo wouldn’t be paying out any money for a car sat nav, even it it did use Here.
I refused the option of a Sat nav on my current car. It was a 700£ extra at the time. The only down side was if you wanted BT you had to get it. As I didn’t want the car nav, I’ve never seen one as good as Google maps, waze or here, so I couldn’t justify 100s just for BT. So I bought a £10 BT to aux in that has done the job for 3 years now.
Android auto and car play is now almost the ideusty standard, and is coming in many entry cars for free, but you can still “up grade” to built in maps (just like in your case) if you wish. I wouldn’t. I can’t see why anyone would, but then again I couldn’t see why people opted for the older built in Sat nav.
Tom Tom Garmin and navman units was always better than in car units, and upgradable, then Google maps waze and here on phones trumped the standalone Sat navs. I’m just glad we have finally merged the two. A dumb screen that polls your phone.
Also the latest breed of screens shouldn’t look ancient in 5 years time, and your phone is forever up datable. Saying all that, there will undoubtedly be a time when the version on android auto and car play in the car, won’t be able to speak to the version on your phone. I wonder how long it will be supported.
I suppose only time will tell on that front. The one thing that may keep both Google and apple honest on the at front is non will want to be the first to drop support for older cars. Due to headlines, but as soon as one does, the other will soon follow.
I’m sure they could of got by with the Google translate app.
I use the Tom tom app, overplayed onto Google maps.
Though my girl uses here maps, she has it set to beep as hits speed limits, as she has a black box and is terrified of upsetting her insurers and getting a price hike.
Daddy is band from driving her car now! That’s the thanks I get for all the hours I Sat in the things teaching her! Lol.
Glad your liking your new motor.
Mine is fill of fine sand evey morning.
I sort of do mind about congestion charges, as it’s just a tax on that hurts the poor.
Same with the need added pollution charge. You already pay a fee on your car tax. The idea of the ULPC (or whatever it’s called) was to get old cars, mainly the older diesels off the road (the same one gordon brown told Peep to buy). Which I’m fine with as facts shift, and it seems they wasn’t as clean ads first thought. But when brand new, evey day normal cars are being dragged into it, it’s not right. Even if they do fail the grade, the gov should have some type of cutoff leeway / exemption date. Say 7 years old (7 years is the average lengh of ownership). So that when the people that fell into the trap, can make proper informed decisions on their next purchase.
If your a normal person that lives in (or has to pass through) the catchment area and you bought or lease an new car in say 2015, you will be at minimum locked into a 3 to 5 year contact maybe more. Would they of accounted for an extra £13 a day, on top of thier travel costs? I bet not. Also the second hand value of that car has just plummeted in your area, so simply offloading it isn’t going to be easy.
Close to me there is a new bridge, (Widnes Runcorn) it’s great BTW, but all the locals that need to cross it each day are fuming cos of the £4 a day crossing fee, so I can’t imagine how a £13 a day fee is going down with the locals. Of course the guys that joy ride around London in the v12 lambos all day, the £7+£13 per day fee won’t bother them. (or their dad).
So if the gov wants cleaner city centres, you need to look a what Spain is doing in barca, making car free areas. I’d be happy with car free cities. It’s not like London hasn’t got a great public transport set up. Imagine if only busses and service traffic was in London, losts of green spaces, public spaces clean air, and all that land that would be feed up.
It can’t happen, but the barca situation could and should. Basically lots of car free blocks, with one way only roads conecting them. Makes its a great place to be. Also works well as a test case for Europe as barca is very old and organicly grown like many EU cities Inc london.
This would be far easier in newer US style cities as they are mostly built in logical blocks around a gridded road system. I think Milton keens is like this (they used MK for Gothem in one of the BM films, or so I’m lead to believe) .
Gone off on one here, but I don’t think I do support charges to fix issues. I think it a lazy fix by rich people, as it won’t effect them. Or rather a tax on the poorer (average) person.
Set the congestion charge on how wide/long the care is, on a sliding scale, and set a pollution cost how expensive a car is. As a £13per day fee, is a lot for the average Ford focus/astra owner, but nothing the 911 or lambo owner. But even that system isn’t really fair either, and full of holes. It’s just as lazy and doesn’t cure the issue.
I don’t even live near the sodding place, it shouldn’t annoy me lol.
I can’t believe the favourites (in my mind) are 200/1. ?
Yes, we have that, as we went lady year a couple of times and forum out after our first time. My comment was more to highlight even modern diesels are being caught up in the scheme that is ment to push 15 year old diesels out of the city.
I was amazed when I checked mine on the website to see I’d have to pay the ULE tax. Thought it is a diesel that’s knocking on 200bhp. But still…..
I moving from diesel this year, the war has officially started against them. My late 2015 car cane even enter London with out a double charge!
Re fuel prices, have you noticed diesel is now creeping away from petrol. Also by August if crude keeps going petrol will hit about 1.44 and diesel about 1.49!
So yay for my plans 4000mile trip around EU. Though I’ll be surprised if the fence has let their diesel break £1. Last summer it was 91p on average petrol about £1.15.
We may mock the French, but they can organise a protest and strike.
Lolololol, I say this to my wife most days. She has five on me, so for years I’d tell how much I couldn’t wait till she was an oap, as she will have 10 years of Oap abuse.
If she was to read this, she would point out it’s only 5 years for 5 months. Lol
With my sleep patterns it’s likely I can watched them all. ?
A few months a go, me and the wife was discussing and wondering what the time spread of games would be like, given the amount of timezones Russia has.
Usually all the games are in about a 6h window of either day or night, but with Russia, they could condense the comp by a week, and have a game star every hour if they wished.
Update, I just realise I totally misread Lee’s post. But sill it’s relevant to the wc.
I just assume everyone is… Cos why would they not be. ?
I just have a quick Google, and it seems they can nail a team to all of the Royals except him.
I’ve nothing against him either, he seem a nice bloke, he supports LFC, and he has served, so what’s not to like?
He also seems relatively bright and compassionate about things. (probably from his mother’s side)
I was, as a neutral, it was just poor. As a untied fan I’d imagine it got some that exciting (annoying) towards the end. And nervy for the blues.
But as a neutral, it was just slow and lathargic. Especially for first 45.
That was a poor game indeed. I predicted a 00 over 90,so I was almost right.
A right snooze fest for the neutral.
I have to agree, I’d follow football almost anywhere, Russia isn’t one of them. Nothing against the nation, somewhere I’d love to explore. But I wouldn’t be going as a footy fan.
Yes I do use those type of power banks. I have many around the house. And anything that has a USB plug that needs charging, it gets plugged in. I’ve never had a single issue
As I said above, just plug it in, it will sort itself out.
You could even charge it via your PC or laptop, but that will only give you a max output of 500ma at 5v, so would take an age, over twice what the original car get would take. Assuming you said it was rated for 1amp 3v. So the pc would attempt the full 500ma and just push (step down to) 3w. I assume.
I really don’t follow international football, so I’m really ignorant to who is thst good, or not.
I try not to find out too much before hand, as I like finding out on the day.
I do know Belgium should have a great team, but no one seems to trully rate them that much. Maybe it’s cos the name carry no real history, but they could do well.
But to me it’s obvious who is going to win, Egypt.
“Dwynne, this was a Thread based upon the Round Ball game, I hesitate to criticise your comment but I feel it was somewhat misplaced”. Sorry Bob but your comment is somewhat lost on me.
He is saying, if your not interested why are you commenting.
In regards to why are we going to Russia cos of there antics. If that was the case, we would have few if any nations to go, including our own. It’s just as bad as any of the big hitters.
The BBC would have us belive Russia is a terrible place run by horrible people. Swap RT for BBC, Russia for UK, and both wouldnt be lying.
The world is ran by horrible people. It’s just darwinism, the strongest and nastiest always win. They make the laws, and we follow.
Now let’s get this back onto football. We can open a thread in politics to discuss who lives in the worst country if one wishes.
Now Who do you think will win? In the World Cup that is.
I swap and change my usb plugs around. They are clever enough to work out what the appliance is and needs.
