If we was to go and win this comp, I can see the headlines about how easy.their run was. They are damned if the do, and damned if they don’t.
The issue atm is, everyone is saying we have an easy route to the final, but seem to be forgetting we don’t know how good this team is. The pundits are just disregarding the opposition(s).
But like you, I want positive football, If they go out fighting, I’m happy.
Here we go, the teams are in the tunnel.
I’m not fussed with England, I want them to go far, but I(we) still have no idea if they are good or not.
We will know soon enough. Shame the Belgium England game played the way it did, as we would know already. Looking forward to it.
I fitted the new part, filled it up with Coolant, ran it for 30 mins no leaks, and no over heat (quit pleased with myself) whole job probably took an hour. Split over I’ve sitting.
The fan still never span up, so I took it to my mechanic. I decided to do the replacing of the two part myself as I know my mechanic is in ozzy atm with his heart, and my girl really needs her car, as she is a carer for oaps and goes house to house.
I let her use mine yesterday, she was off today. So hopped it would be fixed for tomorrow.
I colled my mech and he said to drop it off and he is hoping to escape ozzy and be back in work Friday. Monday at the latest.
So she is stuck driving my car. There is one issue, I can’t put her on the insurance. So we are really riding our luck.
So hopefully he escapes and fixes it Friday!
If she had a normal job, in one location, I’d drop her and collect her. But I can’t be her taxi all day. So we are stuck riding out luck.
I told her not to drive it the way she drives hers, she has a black box and drives eveywhere at 20mph to keep her ‘score’ good, if you drop below a certain score your monthly premiums go up. I said if she drives mine at 20mph everywhere, she’ll get pulled for suspicion of drink driving. Not an issue in her car, as she is insured, is an issue in mine.
Also the power of mine terrifies her. Hers is about 49bhp (10 years ago), mine is almost 200bhp, and an auto, so a wiggle of the toe, and you hit 60 without noticing.
If anyone read this far, thanks for the input. But dad has done about all he can. And my figurenails (what there is of them) are rotton!
The flies all seem to be in north Wales, the things are driving us mental!
@bullstuff2 given you know where the pump is on a mk1 ka, do you know where the relay is housed for the radiator fan.
I thought it would be in the fuse box, it’s not, (unless it’s above it), there is two 60amp (iirc) fuses right next to the positive terminal on the battery. I think one controls/connected to the cooling fan, (thou the diagram I’ve seen also says the 20amp fuse (number 20) also is. So I’m a bit confused. Also i cant seem to see any relays at all. I think a Haynes manual may be on the cards later.
Given I’ve spent 40 years avoiding getting oil on my hands, I’m enjoying the messing around. Probably cos, i cant really make to much damage (cost wise) to an old ka. Sun helps too.
Woke up this morning with tight hamstings lol, mustn’t of used them in a while.
Missed last night’s game. A couple of nights no sleep, mixed with a few hours in the sun, and I fell sleep not long after kick off!
Bob, the 5 year deal, just means if he has another decent season, 20 goals plus (I very much doubt he will match last seasons performance) , we will get 200mil of one of the big clubs.
He was always going to get a new deal, as he was one of our lowest paid stars. Iirc about 80k a week. VVD and fabinio are on 150 and 160. Mental figure, but by no means at the upper levels of payment. I think Kane just got a bump for around 70k to 240k! At spurs!
Mental numbers indeed. Id happily take 80k a year. Who am I kidding I’d take 50k.
I’m assuming the pump is OK, as when I started it yesterday, seen leak, then prodded the leaky bit, the barb (don’t know the actual name) on the heater control valve just snapped (brittle plastic), it gushed out like a tap.
This morning it took me 20 mins to strip it back and get the HCV off, just waiting on Amazon to deliver the new one. It was under half the price of my local car parts shop (CES) .
A shame I didn’t notice the HCV was broke yesterday as the thermostat housing was 3x the price as I could of got it off eBay. Hope this sorts it as my girl is in my car till it’s done.
I have a feeling the relay or the fan may be broke too!
The expansion tank was fine, the leak was from the heater control valve, so I have one of them on order. And the thermostat housing (with temp sensor and thermostat) was a bit fidilly, but took me 2 hours including a 45min trip to buy the new housing.
First time I’ve ever worked on a car, bar one attempt at a service 7 years ago or so. I quite enjoyed it, but I can imagine if it wasn’t 20 degrees, but raining I wouldn’t of found it as fun.
The heater control valve looks very simple too, so I’ll do that tomorrow when it arrives. And I need to check the radiator fan relay and fuse. As if the sensor has been broke for a while, the fan, relay or fuse may of given up. I can test the relay and fuse if the fan doesn’t spin up.
If it doesn’t looks like a new fan too. Not looked into if that is easy on the ka. Hopefully so.
I didn’t think it was a pen either. But it’s take big balls to turn it down.especslly since a fair few less obvious pens have been given.
It’s seemed 6 of 1 and half dozen of the other
That last game was a snooze fest. I zoned out about 30 mins in.
Let’s keep brexit out of the thread. It’s been flogged to death and it ends in the same stale mate every time.
I’ll delete any pro or negative brexit posts. Unless they are relevant to the thread.
Whatever happens will happen, us bickering won’t change that.
M$ clearly cocked up on low calibre modles like the 535 and I figure thats what killed off M$ phone?
I disagree, their lowed phones offered somthing android and Apple just didn’t have at the time. A good cheap device. It’s was their top end that suffered, as it was priced like iPhones or android flagships but never delivered the same experience.
What soon happened was, the low end cpus ect… Got good, so we seen the emergence of cheap good android phones, around 2013 with the Moto G and E, and quickly followed behind them was the first one plus phone. Since then, we have been awash with great cheap phones.
Now you need to be a bit simple to have a top tier Android or ios device.
yes, I know I have one, but unless you want the best camera experiance, I couldn’t recommend a top tier phone to anyone. Even then there is little between a 2015 top tier (nexus 6p) and 2018 big boys like the S9 or P20p. Youre really splitting hairs.
The kids moto G (last years) has a camera that is on par with a 2015 flag ship (give or take).
One issue windows phones had with their great cameras on their flag ships was shutter lag, so even when they had the 20mp lumina, it just wasn’t very good for ‘snaps’ . Back then an 8mp iPhone wiped the floor with all, in the daily photo department. So ms stongest positive was also it’s biggest issue. And when the phone is £700, that stands out.
The cheaper 100 windows phones from the era, had terrible cameras, as did the Moto G that was 100, but the consumers expectations was so much lower. As a smart phone both worked excellently. Before that cheap windows phone was against the likes of the HTC wildfire or the Samsung galaxy y (as in why bother). Windows phones was miles ahead of them cheap androids, mainly cos the windows os was tailored for the hardware, and would run very well. Sadly for ms good hardware got cheap, and Android shortcomings wasn’t so obvious.
Not to mention, Windows Phone just wasn’t cool. Which goes along way in covering up cracks.
Off topic I know, but earlier Steve referred to “Women and children”, with which I disagree. Now if you had said “My wife and my children” then I would agree 100%. Many years ago I had a women running all the different functions in the lab, including SENSIBLY tidying my desk once a week when I was elsewhere. Occasionally, she would tell me of some trivial disagreement with her hubby, at which point I realised there were WIVES and WOMEN, definitely different. Les. Edit: Spelling.
I’ll revise it to most women. But I’m not budging no more. Lol
That’s why I don’t drink out of beer bottles.
A litre of water is 1kg. So full a couple of bottles of water or a bucket, to see how acreate they are.
So glad Russia went through. I like a host nation to stay in as long as possible. Spain was so poor, -death- suicide by a thousand passes.
Russia wasn’t much kop but I love an underdog that just holds in there. I think they had one shot on target in the end.
Really surprised that Spain didn’t get that last min VAR pen. I had visions of an FSB officer holding a photo of the VAR refs children. Lol.
Nice game. The scoreline flattered the Argies. Pogpa was great. I really like him, if only José would let him off the leash
I didn’t know they was still making win phones. And don’t understand why they still are. No matter how good a device they build, That war has long been lost.
The expectation of a Windows PC in your pocket, just never materialised. Which was sad as Samsung back in 2013 (note2) had a dock able os that worked great. This is aside from the decent integration with Windows.android already had via many great apps. (push bullet is my fav still) .
Ios has great Mac integration, so Ms have not real excuse.
All that aside, they was just too late to the party, all the devs was invested in the larger platforms.
The os was rather nice, my phone was very cheap, very low end, (it came free with a tablet, iirc £80 for both) but it ran very smooth, far better than cheap androids of the day. It’s media hub (or sothign like that) that pooled all your messages and emails into one thread was great. So they killed it, and sky drive worked great too, again that was killed.
Steve Balmer famously said the iPhone was an overpriced toy, no business man would touch it. Hence Ms being slow off the mark.
It was DOA. A real shame and underhand they way they took control of Nokia and f-ed it up. I took a proper dislike to Ms after that. 1000s of Scandinavian jobs went to the wall, along with one of the best phone makers out there.
Nokia now isn’t the Nokia of old.they are far smaller and manufacture their device via china now.
Ms owned the brand name for a few years, that lapsed about 2 years ago.
Ms all but killed the windows phone about 3 years ago, and I think its officially dead now.
Coincidentally on Thursday, I was set next to a guy in the theatre with a windows phone. Only the second one I’ve ever seen in the wild. The other was a windows 7 phone about 7 years ago. The first windows phone, after win mobile era.
I did buy a cheap win phone just to check not out.it was ok, but the app store was terrible.lack of apps, and a mass of rip off and spam apps.
I agree with your last point, just not what a game is on. And tbh though out this WC, I’ve had almost all the games on, in the background, with only half an eye on them.
Though these last (3rd)games have mostly been very good, and work just stopped as I found 20 min chunks would fly by.
Also in the fairness to radio, It doesn’t seem like if of enjoyed last night’s game any more if I watched it over listening.
The boys leaver do was OK too. Lol
No, it’s only the group stages. We usually get out the group. The lady 16 is where we usually fail, which is the next game. On occasion we have wine that the next game is the one that gets us. (bar 1990) when we went one game further. semi final knock out, which guarantees you one more game. Either a final, or the wooden spoon game.
