Yes, the 3rdcparty country tarrifs was no secret. We will be on the equivalent to emergency tax for all exports.
Have you noticed if you try to book an easy jet flight in to Europe on April th 1st on wards you can’t. You can the day before brexit. But easyJet don’t even know if they will be allow to. Evey one is in limbo, it’s all starting to hit home.
I’m away in Madrid (CL final) on the first. I’ve already got my international driving licence, given its likely ours will not be valid. I’ve spoken to the insurer and they have said atm they don’t know if my UK insurance will still be covered, I need to ask closer to the time. I then ask, would I be above to by euro insurance, they said at this moment, they don’t know if they will be allowed to sell insurance for euro use, if that’s the case, my best bet would be to sort out temp cover in France (or Spain) the day before brexit happens.
So all this carry ons as normal, is BS. This is a simple road trip, imagine if I was Nissan and relied on 200 deliveries from multiple EU nations. I’d be worried.
We seem to think because with have all this manufacturing jobs her it won’t effect us. It’s wrong. We are basically a hugh production line. All the ‘bit’ come in to the country then leave.
All thoughts expect tarrifs are going to kills us. Oh plus all the JIT plants will be fucked, given the trucks won’t be able to get out of customs.
But yea it’s all simple, well just carry on as normal.
We not only lose the free trade area, we also lose every link with the 100s of other nations that have agreements with the uk.
So we will first fall onto 3rd country WTO tarrifs. Untill wi work out tarrifs deals with the WTO, that itself will take 20 years. As there is not 27 nations that we have to get thr nod off, I think is 160(or more) . There is 100,000s items to be tarifed, then we need to issue then to the WTO then every member gets to pick them apart, over and over, untill we can make all members happy.
We are leaving one club, where we sit close to the top table, to enter a worse club at the lowest run.
The EU membership subscription will seem a bargain. In 2 years time.
Hey, but we get our sovereignty back! Can anyone please explain what that actually means.ascto me it seems a buzz word to catch the ignorant.
I can’t see a single reason why anyone would still be in favour of this shit. It makes zero sense.
Started watching season 4 of half and catch fire on prime yesterday after I finished the city doc.
City doc is great, but most here won’t enjoy it. But halt and catch fire is brilliant. I won’t spot it, but it’s about making harwars and software though out the 60s to the 80s I think ere at. Only 2 Eps In, but I defo seen a snes. It’s very good, I’d imagine a few of you older guys may like it, as it echos some of your jobs, and hobbies, and puts a spotlight on them times. So it will have the nostalgia effect too.
Need prime though.
Pink Floyd the Wall is great and Queens one night at the opera is too. Thought I’d get green greatest hits, or trh platinum remaster album that has over 50 songs, a good 35 songs a very good, and 20 excellent and 10 works of genius.
Also anything by oasis is usally good. It’s taken me to 40 to reconnect with some of my younger music. I’ve been years away from it. But been battering it all week.
Though my cheap podcast/audio book ear buds don’t half show there (lesser) quality when I break queen out.
I think all my are BT low power. Which I think means it the newer standard. My bose cans works all over the house. So tested to probably 40 feet through a few walls. My cheaper buds, which are also new (ish) they give battery feed back to devices etc.. Probably get 10 at best through walls.
I don’t mind though, that works for my uses.
I’ve never stopped my licence, even when I could I knew the rules was changing. So just kept it going out of lazyness.
BL if it was for me, I’d be looking down the android box route, but it for her, she wants the live TV experiance back, (which she never lost, give she has live TV apps on the amazon tv, but has never taken to them.
Basically she wants a remit with buttons it sounds. I’m picking her up at 3.30pm (2 hour round trip for dick head here!) so I’ll see exactly what she wants then.
Well given she informed me of the box she wants. since when she started making tech choices, I don’t know, over 20 years and she has only ever made one choice iPhone 3g, and she hated it.

Jb – We no longer have our old bsb boxes or card, turned off 6 years ago, found and binned the boxes (and probably the cards was still in the original boxes) out the attic last year. . We are looking are getting the free sat Box above. It looks decent and I think but not sure, or that bothered, if it pauses or not.
If she wants live TV, she can watch it live lol. Otherwise, us on demand and she and pause to her hearts content.
Dave, the SX, to me from watching a quick YouTube video, the ui looks very much like you view, which I do like, and as far as I can tell, it does the going back in time, the same way you view does ie, it falls back to OD services via the Internet to make it feel like it’s going backwards, but just polling off the iplayer etc in reality.
Our kitchen tv, a 32” HD jobbie hasn’t been turned on since the Wii got retired, and that was retired cos it never got used. Actually iirc about 5 years ago, I swapped my broken tv out my office for the one in the kitchen. So it doesn’t even work. It’s been thst long I forgot about that. Lol. No one has Have noticed or been bothered..
We had sky in there once, soon had it turned off, as it was a good idea in theory, but no one ever actually put the tv on. The older kids, then younger, used it making to play the Wii, (more room) , untill we discovered the Wii was crap, and it fooled the world.
Seen that in the attic too last month. May dust that off, it’s probably hackable as hell now.
I found having a few pairs of BT ear phones connecting to different devices can end up with the cans connecting to the wrong devices, and some cans will push others off if you forget to turn one off.
So om my pc I have a dedicated pair of BT buds. But my phone does the major share of my listening, so that is what all my other sets connect to. I don’t connect a pair to two different devices that I know ill be near both regularly. Hope that makes sense, not sure I it does.
Basically a seperatepair of earphone per device. Give mine are cheap, it’s not a big issue to have a few pairs.
I also have a cheap pair of head phones that has a reviver stand, ment for PC or tv work. But the cussioning is so hard I can’t water them. Used them once (a prezzie). I should dig them out for my girl, she would probably use them on her mac. My lads already have decent wired sets.
We have the dish still up from our sky days. I’m assuming it still all works.
She only needs one feed I think as I don’t car about recording etc. I think the box has od, but if not she has her Amazon box (hate that). So between the two she is covered.
I’m not going to be feeding more than the lounge tv. I’m disappointed she has given up on our no over the air tv set up. She said she didn’t realise she missed live TV untill she was Sat in her friends last night..
I had a look at the box she picked, and it seems to have good reviews. So I’m assuming it works. Which is about all she needs. No need for recording so second input.
I’ll grab it form Amazon as if it doesn’t work properly they can pick it up. We already have two Sat feeds in the lounge. We’ll we have two feeds in 5 rooms, from the bad old expensive sky days.
If this fails, I’ll probably look at the entry level HD humax job. No need for the more expensive hdd one. On demand just works, so I wouldn’t want to return to the remembering to set recordings, then managing them. When a trip to iplayer/itv etc… Just works.
Ive actually got zero interest in the project, hence my that will do approach. I probably watch about 6 hours of tv a year in the lounge.thats her tv. And with a bad back the couch, all couches, kill my back. So I’m far more happy in my desk chair.
We have been talking about getting one of those lazy boy oap chairs. As we have normal reclining ones but they still kill ne after an hour sitting on them. So I usually end up lay on the floor with the dogs.
So a proper chair may be in our future. But then I’d have to listen to soaps and reality crap etc, so I’m in no rush tbh.
I’ve just been informed she wants the Manhattan hd SX like her friend! Having been out of the tv space never heard of them but a quick Google seems it’s OK, and should do her.
Not letting her out again.
It’s about 30 foot, but adding walls it’s probably more like 10 foot.
Iirc the latest standerds which I don’t think is that widely adopted. So you saoikd like you’re in the ball park of that the standard is capable off.
You’d know my bose head phones go further than my teotronics buds, but never tested how far bose go, but I know they cut out at around ten foot, where my buds do. I know this as desk to toilet is about 10 feet, as the crow flies, (via two walls), they go choppy some times when I visit the loo.
However there is a huge price difference. £16 vs £320. So if your happy with your sound, I’d say stick to what you have. You’ll probably need to invest a relative amount to gain an extra few feet. And a huge amount to go further.
For anything but serious music listening to, which I do little of, (though listening to the wall atm), my sub £20 set up is more than good enough. Though I do need two sets of the cheap ones, as I only get about 6 hours out of them, and I do more than 6h with buds on. So always have own on charge.
Congratulations Bob. What will you do with yourself now. We’ll have to find you anther case to chase up, if you’re at a loss. ?
My mate says I should get her into Pink Floyd. Which I liked when I was in school, but back then, I’d say my mind was in a different place.
I’ll have to re listen to it.
She started asking my about Queen on the drive. now you want to see a 40 year old man squirm and have to think on the feet (well arse), get a 9 year old girl to ask him about why freddy died at 40!
Thing is she ain’t daft, luckily she never asked what the illness was, or I’d of had to rear end someone (bad choice of phase) on the motorway to get out of that conversation. It really would of been my method I think.
Had my car almost four years. Put the OG pop song on for my girl, never really noticed the quality (or lack of) the sound.
Today I had to take my girl on a 4h round trip, she asked me for some queen, I remeber ed I liked Queen. OMG my car stereo is horrible. It was just mush. When when ever the sound got any they near complex it felt like I had my head in a bucket.
Now in fairness to my car, I was using a hi quality download, but dl non the less, and was sending it via BT (as the future says no aux is allowed). So I got home, and used my bose BT head set, and it’s the car. OMG it made me sad. Also highlighted how un comples current pop crap is, (and talk sport lol) that it’s taken me almost 4 years to notice. So glad Im not a big audio guy or something would if had to be done.
On the plus side (always look for the silver lining), queen made the 4 hours fly by. We got home, and my girl was pissed off we had to get out the car. She, as was I, was amazed how many of the songs she knew the majority of the words to.
That shit will live forever, breaks down all ages, races, religions and creeds. Good is just good.
39b would be like pissing in a lake.
WoF if that’s the case, why are we bother. We can just carry on. And ignore customs, tariffs and all trh logistics that instils.
We will literally following our own meem. Keep calm and carry on. Someone should inform the PM it’s a meem, it’s not ment to be taken literally.
Seen a boy of sky news, yesterday, not my usual place to get it, and they had a Farmer on, brexitier what was just, ‘so what about concequences’ was his attitude.
But let slip he doesn’t deal with trade with EU, but more US, and added his subsidy, he won’t miss it as he passes down the chain, as he is self sufficient. He said non ends up in his pocket.
i think he missed the point that, passing down the chain means he uses it to pay suppliers, wages, etc… So will he be self sufficient once he loses his subsidy.
As if his answer was, my pocket will miss it, but I don’t mind that sacrifice. For many years my farms has been self sufficient so the subsidy hasn’t been needed. Then I would of sided with his point.
I’d also love to know what does taking sovranty back mean. Did we ever lose it, if we did, do we need it. What do we gain or lose form either having or not.
It seems we all want it back, but few actually know what it is we no longer have.
Off the hospital today, tell we are defo home.
Tbh I think AI would potentially be a better eye tester than an eye specialist. At least in the diagnostic stages..
Optitions then could just employ a couple of low paid staff to say sit there and press start.
I can easily imagine a real high def/infrared /etc.. Camera would get a far better look than a man with a torch, and I’d trust AI to diagnose any in perfection better than a person. Eventually.
I can’t think of many things computers and robotics couldn’t do better than humans tbh. It’s just a matter of time.
It’s OK ed, don’t worry as after brexit our labour will be cheaper than idea. We will be all making clothing for the likes of primark. there will be loads of work, I’ve all ready started to teach my young ones to use a sewing machine, and how to stich on sequins . ?
Don’t know if they had zink oxide tape in your day bob, and 1000miles socks (under issue socks). a mixture of them, foot powder. And drying your wet sock under your balls why you slept worked for me.
Well I’m lying it’s helped. But there is only so much you can do before all your nails fell off and most of your feet was mostly blistered. You be speed marching and pink water and blood would be bubbling out of your boot eyelets.
It’s quite amazing how much of a girl I am now, normal little blisters kill me now. my flip flops rubbed me while away honestly.
But back then, as you know, you had no option but to keep going, and it’s quiet amazing how much pain you can just zone out when you don’t have a safety blanket. As on holiday I did, I binned my flip-flops and bought sandles. Later that night I was thinking of what I just wrote, while having a been and looking at this tiny 5p blister that defeated me.
A bit of me inside wept. I could once yomp 30miles over marshland in one go, that day I couldn’t make it 100ft to the pool ?
