What’s a best mate? lol.
It must be broken, I’ve not had a pm for about a year. 😆
One was for the Admiralty Interview Board who want to keep 3 years worth of officer interviews,
No luck for that in the RAF for my officer selection interview – had to have my interview within the mess, as the fire alarm went off in the middle of the interview in the selection centre and we had to improvise!

I read that as Fire arm went off…had to re read it twice!
But shows my attention to detail is serious lacking!
So long as you remember the really important things in life like the wife’s birthday and anniversaries!!!

I can’t forget her anniversary, I’m cleaver, I mad sure it is the same as mine B-)
I have a SSE smart meter bit not been with them for years now, so the meter is all but dumb now.
I’m with a company called Octopus that auto switches you every 12 months. My bill have gone down year on year, so I’m happy.
Each month Octopus ask for a reading. My smart meter may no longer be smart, however the remote box that lives in the house still shows the reading of our gas and electic meters. It may not be smart anymore, bit it is convenient. It live in my bed side draw. When I get the reading email I turn it on and input the reading from my bed.
I have no need for that size either. And I have a CCTV server! 12TB is some side.
My pcs only have 1TB in them, and my Lappys still only have a 100gb ssd. I’ve just not seen the need to upgrade.
Ditched my movie collection, which had only about 800GB worth, years ago.my photos are online (3 separate places, just in case). As the years went on, I could get by on less and less space.
Ironically my phone has 256GB of space! My lastone 128GB, never got past half full, and it only got that full out of digital lazyness, I’d happily get along with 64gb.
Just got an iPad pro with 128GB I think that was the lowest option.
It would take me a lifetime to fill 12TB, and then I’d have no idea what was on it, or where it was.
Still a great price for thought wasn’t do. But I’d not like that much data save in a single.
@JayCeeDee I just had to have a look at my licence. As I mentioned above it’d out of date, so a month or two over ten years old, bit I could if swore their was a Welsh flag on my licence. There isn’t it’s an EU flag.
I just had to Google and I’m not mad. I remember when I moved to Wales renewing my licence and the first thing I noticed was the Union flag was replaced with a Welsh one. But when i got the outgoing one, in over a decade I never noticed they swapped the Welsh flav for an EU one. Not that a care tbh. But shows my attention to detail is serious lacking!
@Ed we looked at these apps, but tbh my day drinkers are a cash only bunch, and my night drinkers all tap cards or phones.
If the regs state we should have have the option available I opt for one (there is many filling my inbox up), bit I can’t see it being used much. I may be wrong.
After yesterday’s rant a listened to the Welsh PM’s latest announcement. He basically said pubs are not on his road map for this 3 week period (starting Monday), or the next. (thats literally all he said).
However them 6 words mean, given pubs need a minimum 2 weeks notice, that’s sits us at Monday the 3rd of april at a min. 4 weeks behind England.
One thing I’ll praise the Welsh PM for is he hasn’t flip flopped, so you sort of know what’s going on (once your told), bit also you could say a negitve is he is being too causious. All he is doing is letting England be the test subject, let them make the mistakes and follow behind them, criticising them and amending as needed.
I don’t know if that’s good or bad leadership tbh.
This has just reminded me that just as this close down happened I sent the paperwork to the DVLA for a 10 year licence renewal.
Ive never heard back off them and they haven’t taken the money out of my account. I put it down the covid situation, bit I may just update it on line on Monday. Given my licence has been out of date for two months.
It did day on the paper work if you send this off and the old lapses before the new one arrives back don’t worry. But it’s been a good while now.
@bob, I really couldn’t be bothered with the take away ale stuff. Being in the town centre, and given it’s a shutdown, not slot of passing trade. Also the large majority of the day drinkers in town are the race horse crown (older peeps), they ain’t walking into town for a crap plastic pint, then walk around town between rounds. The rest of the day drinkers are holiday makers, they obviously arnt about either.
I do know of a couple of pubs that did try selling take away beers, but that was cash only untill old open stock ran dry.
We can claim back sealed barrels at cost, and they was selling it cash only, for a couple of reasons. Mostly tax related.
Though I do know a few pubs that still don’t know if they will be re opening. It will come down to how long the closure will be, and the bigger one is what if any expensive changes will be needed to meet new regs.
We have a good idea of what will be expected, bit noting is set in stone. So it’s not worth implement ing the small things, if it turns out you can’t afford the big ones. So everyone is in limbo.
I’ve lost two staff members, but not even bothered thinking about that, as it’s the least on my mind. also I have a feeling to begin with I may only re open Fri/sat/sun to begin with. I just don’t know.
This government is beyond an F-ing joke at the moment. Talk about Flip flop and indecision.
In my community we’d just like any decision. In England they said 22nd June pubs could open beer gardens. Well that date came and went. Now English pubs are told they may get to open July 4th.
We are 2 weeks away form that date, and the government are yet to release the guidelines pubs will have to meet! It’s not an industry that can be rw started at a drop of a hat. And there is too much money at risk to go proactively speculation what the gov will want us to implement.
Never mind I’m already getting calls from reps asking what types of numbers will I be buying in and when would I be looking at doing so, as they all have limited supply, so it’s first come first served.
Which isn’t great given we (the pubs) have no idea if people are gonna pour in or trickle back. Given the loss we have just had to suck up, we cart go out guessing at what covid implementations we should do, and we can’t take a punt on 1000s of pounds worth of beers, cos it only has a max of a 2 month shelf life.
I could sell 10k worth in a week, or it may just sit there and fester.
That’s my rant out the way.
Back to the track and trace, what a royal F-up . Why not let Google and apple handle it all. I trust them both more than the NHS/gov. They could do track and trace so easily, it be totally anonymised to boot.
They could just treat the phone as the person, and send it a notification, you’ve possibly been infected, please isolate, if you get really ill follow this advice ….. Google and apple already have the tracking data on all these devices. It’s simple for them to have every phones movements plotted on a map by time. Any phoen that comes withing X yards, gets the ‘possible infection’.
The numbers can then be reported to governments etc. But no pricey needs to be broken . They could probably both do this within week or two with a simple update, and a script.
But no BJ wanted to actually know who is being tracked etc.. . Who the person is doesn’t really matter.
My car has been due a service since April. I contacted the garage then, and they said it would be ok until this is over.
I don’t really care, the car has probaly done 300 miles since then. Probably a bit less.
Cool
No John.
Anything by Damien Lewis is great for ww2/SAS/SBS/even Gulf war’s is a good bet.
And on the sci-fi front I’m loving Craig Alanson ever expanding Expedition Force series is good. There must be ten now, the universe is now forking in alternate directions following different sets of people.
Been reading the above two for a good few years now. Batterd a load of books over the lockdown.
I have a to link router, iirc I got it two xmas’s ago (maybe 3) and VR900, over the last 6 moths or so it’s started random drop outs, slowing down and the range shortening.
So the other week (or month), a 3 pack tp link Deco M4 mesh things went in sale for £70 quid.
Totally forgot about them, we got a new bed last week and I found them. I installed them today, keeping the old router as a modem and the mesh deco kit placed around the house.
I now have a solid 60meg right across the house, front gate to back gate. I’m ment to get 80/20 but I think low 60s is all I’m likely to get.
After I installed them, I decided to give talk talk a call, they hung up because if social distancing or something. So went on their site and it was confirmed I was out of contract. I was paying £41pm (probably for about 4 years! So I “upgraded” to the same package for the Price of £26pm.
For the first time in almost 3 months, I felt like I achieve something. Even if it’s just 180per year. Should of done it years ago.
Tomorrow I’m gonna go through all my personal outgoings. I can only assume I’m still paying a load of long dead micro payments and probably a few out of contract overly expensive services I can cut down on.
Though my “switchover” from TT 80/20 to TT 80/20 is due to go through tomorrow, (they said 24h form clicking the link), I can just see TT borking up something as simple as doing nothing. Lol.
I’ve always just got Halfords own.
I need to change my rear one tbh, it’s the factory one, but it’s always been crap, always “judders”. Makes a racket and doesn’t shift all the water. I won’t ever change it, but I should.
Double post
I’m almost pc free these days, and wait for it…..I’m now doing most of my work and play on an iPad .
