It’s better than that Ed. If we want to make a deal with Japan, as that have a major deal with the EU, in the small print, Japan have to declare it with the EU. Then when we are negotiating with Japan, the EU have to give the green light to every detail of it
This isn’t just Japan its evey 3rd party EU trader. So Canada and the US. They already have deals with China too, so they ad in the world’s already has all its deals worked out
We won’t be able to make and deals that put us in tla better position. It actually makes the ‘soverenty to make our own deals’ absolutely rubbish as we would literally need to negotiate with the EU on behalf of country ‘x’.
Also i heard yest day that more car flat pack erectors jag/landrover, are ‘looking’ at their future here.
Now given they run on JIT deliveries, 60 to 100 a day, and only keep abound 60 to 90 mins worth of parts to keep the line running, this whole border issue is well… An issue.
But let’s put this to one side for a tick. we don’t manufacture much, we import it, put it together, and then ship it to market. Jaguar and a Landrover (family working at Halewood Landrover building evokes), market atm is China, USA and EU, then UK (iirc), the bulk of the high end go to China, so the money. The parts for said cars are built on Thr mainland EU. So it makes sense to me to build my flat pack factory in about the centre of where all the parts are from, on the mainland (freedom of movement and zero tarrifs) then sell to China and the US via the tarrifs agreed in the EU Ch/US deal. As it will be better than the tarrifs we will be able to negotiate.
So I don’t think The uk gov could be able to incentive and subsidise LR/Jag for them to even think about thinking about staying in the uk.
Also another issue if we lose the Halewood site, is there is alot of 3rd party small businesses on that site that are only there for LR. (I have one friend that makes despoke seats for Rangrovers, his job and 1000s others will go too. The supporting satalite businesses, will up sticks and set up close to the future LR factory, and take a tenth of the current staff at best then hire local. Only to ease the move.
So yeah, another day another project fear that is turning to fact.
Also anther close place to me, how long will British Aerospace be able to compete for tenures when they will have tarrifs. They won’t. They too are full of small satalite companies that depend on them. They are only their because of the location. These are high paid jobs mostly, so I can see them just leaving for the EU.
Add all that up and that is a big drop in Thr local economy and the treasury. Lost income tax, business taxes, and the loss of wages will then a vat, and a loss of spending in the villages and towns, which could lead to more job loses
Another day anther project fear turn to facts.
I’m jet to be told of one simple thing that will make us better briny out. Just one in any area. Economic, social, infrastructure, logistics, religion, race.
But before you all rush to answer such a “simple” question, I’d like you to add how it will effect you, and why you can’t do such a thing now. This isn’t a Troll, I really want anything to grasp to. I’m sure I must be missing somthing.
I can’t even think of a single reason to leave nevermind try to think up an argument to rationalise it.
I can thin of one. I don’t like brown faces, and I’ll want to see less. Even though the majority of trh brown faces are either British (they are staying) , African and Asian, where leaving or staying won’t change that. They won’t change, as we could of changed the non Europe movement decades ago. So even race isn’t an argument for brexit.
Now if we down grade full racism to the lesser xenophobia, all the pols etc (EU migrates) will be staying and producing off spring, so they too ain’t leaving. The way the pound is falling, whey won’t be coming to work either, given they could work closer to home for trh same money.
So I’m at a true loss.
I think it’s sad that we are talking in them and us tones. We shouldnt be looking at the imdevidual economies, but more as a one. It’s a sad sad sign of the times.
Who care if someome puts a pit more in the pot than others. What should matter is the overall benifit of all. Is Europe better than pre EEC/EU Europe yes or no? Obviously it’s a yes. So we are doing somthing right.
I’m slowly getting back on to old ways. Have anther weekend away planed for Saturday. Tbh they absolutely distroy me these days.
Having a few years off the beer, I’m now a bit of a lightweight. Usally take the knock around 6, to get up about 10 and they still on it. I bee line to maccies and then home.
An other for sgb101

That’s the boundary marker for you Lee, don’t cross it.
And I wish little Duke was that big ?
Some nice photos there Lee, I thought you was you was off the beer?
Must be just a one off, as the pro is very good. But I think we get a bit carried away, given any upper lowered phone had a very good camera, and mid range is excellent. If we need better, the fine gains of adding $300 to 400 would be better spent on a dslr like a nikon 3300.
Here is a couple of photos from Tuesday night. The one at the bar worked well, it was quite dark, behind the stand. the ones in the stand I added to show zoom vs no zoom. And I added a shot of my Ugly mug to show how poor the front camera is.
But if the H10 is getting close to the p20pro go for it. You can always return it if you don’t like it.
We still get letters for Clwyd, from the water and council, its never need Clwyd since we moved here almost 20 years ago.youd think the council at the least would of sorted that by now.
Speaking of passports. Entering eng from calais this summer, they was more lax than ever before. My wife held up the passports, all open and stacked as you do, the women didn’t even take them off my wife, she silly asked how many passports, then half looked in the car window. Given my cars rear is fully blacked out, there is no way she could see how badly wad in the car.
A couple of years ago, after the summer attacks in France, we was ment my armed patrols in the port, the wife doesn’t like weapons so she wad a bit freaked out. I was asked to open my boot for inspection everyone was.
Now we had 5 people in a Coupe, and the boot was rammed, not helped by a stop over in Andorra, then a very early dart from la manns, on top of 4 weeks on the road. So as I was attempting to open the boot, sort of holding shit back form falling out, the guy just said doesn’t matter and helped me shit the boot. Lucky as that afghan child and the kilo of coke could of got us in real bother. Lol.
It all goes to show, it’s all theatre.
One more thing, if you take selfies, (I don’t personally) the P20p is the worst phone I’ve had the (dis) pleasure of using. It’s ‘beauty’ mode can’t be fully turned off, and I doubt the P20 is any differnt.
Full is, full on plastic face, and off is the sky sports 1 inch of foundation look. It’s just wrong. I always thought it would be fixed with a patch, given I got it day one, but may patches have been and gone, and the front camera is still poor at making you look normal.
I don’t understand why they but such a big sensor in it, then basically blar it’s shot. May as well have a 2pmx module in it.
The wife has the P20, and tbh the camera isn’t all that on it. It’s not bad, but I don’t think it’s that special either, next to the P20p. I’ve not tested the honour 10, and don’t even know which is the more expensive one, I’m guessing the honour is the cheaper though.
There must be a hat full do P20 v h10 review out there. If there is 200 difference, and it’s mainly down to the camera, I’d go for the h10 unless you really want the best camera. If that’s so, the P20p is special, (it really is), but I have no idea the price difference over the P20.
The P20 I’d say is the perfect size phone, it just feels right, the P20pro took some getting use to after using the pixel (5″) for 12 months prior. That too has a brilliant camera. Mine is going back to google today to get new battery. It’s still under Warrenty just, so I decided to get it fixed before that expired.
September 19, 2018 at 11:59 am in reply to: What does anyone think of a Lenovo X200s notebook #26087I too have ab i5 X220. Upgraded from my c2d X200t. Very good machine, especially given I paid 130 for the X220 (minus the ssd I put in it) . Doesnt quite match the quality of the X200t but neither did the price tag.
I love the with adds that are selling you a part of an item, but show the full item. You gotta be careful with these less regulated sites.
We best all Learn quick as prost brexit, regulation will be vanishing quickly.
But what we lost in the past has zero bearing on today. All these swings are based on either rebalancing of the pound or uncertainty, or a run on the pound.
We could see a run in the pound if things get more uncertain, however depending if fears overblown (or not), it will end up where it ends up, by re balancing itself. The question is, where is that? No one can know that, cos of the uncertainty factor and that human arnt rational beings, we just cant predict such things long term.
It will drop, the question is will it rebound. And if so how long. I recon well be lucky to be on an 1:1 with the dollar come 24months time. In 12 months we will be about 1:0.9,and about the same with the euro.
I very much dount the pound will be better than it has been of late, which is hardly stellar.
But as I said, we just can’t forecast for the longterm. We could find out it’s great out of trh EU and we are back to the highs of 1:2 on thr usd but I very much doubt either. That ship long sailed.
I’ve not contacted my insurer for about 4 weeks. I wonder if they yet have any idea on how car insurance is going to be handled. Already got my int car licence.
Still don’t think we will leave though .
I’ve never found the BBC to be unbiased. They always have an angle.
I thought the Scum has been in 1stvplace for years?
I x just don’t buy any of the papers. I’ve not since the house before this one, which must be about 2003. I use to lie the star on a Friday. For the motormouth page. While I was away this year the old couple on the next villa on Spain, would leave there used paper on out table each morning. Motormouth is still going, but it want worth my effort reading it. It was pretty poo and the format has changed. May be a new bloke writing it.
I wouldn’t want to get my actual news out of one.
@ricedg as apposed to still walks the ministry teaches. ?
Save you are so bang on, something I said before the ref, and many times since. We have a GE to pick the guys to make such huge decisions for us.
The public as a whole is ignirate to the details of a brexit, they should never of been near the decision. We should of built some type leaving council, and a staying party that could run through all the aspects debate it off each other, and spent 10 years discussing the major issues, so they would at least have some form of frame work to work with IF it wad decided to leave. Which I doent think any individual forum would of come to a leave decision..
I know bt and vergin ‘shape’ your traffic under fair use. Iirc it’s about 200gb, which would just about cover a week my house.
So that is a no. Cell we don’t have cable this side of Chester so vergin is out anyhow
I’m amazed this brexit lark has been allowed to go on this long. I’m sure it will be over soon enough.
I has a look at wave eairler on both desktop and phone app (android) and looks the biz.
What is there download limits like. That’s what keeps me at TT. Not that I have any ill feeling towards them.
We don’t have a phone plugged into ours, nor do we use their tv, we just use it as a dumb pipe. And bandwidth, and (lack of) restrictions is top of my list.
However, how is their router and speeds of up and downloads.
Im with SSE for my power. Getting them to fit a smart meter next week.
