I was in uni 2 years prior to 08 and in my banking classes, the profs that taught that had a number of books published on bankings, all seen it coming. So if you think the BoE didn’t but lowly tutors did, I think not.
It was more likley they couldn’t figure out a solution to the issue, and know bringing it up post 08 would just speed it up.
Banking is a super interesting subject. It doesn’t sound it, but was some of my favourites at uni. Funny that 97% of the class was Asian, with a couple of Welsh and a hand full of English. So not a fancied subject by the locals.
For the life of me I can’t remember the banking tutors name, Spanish lady. Just took a look through the current staff and alot are still there. She doesn’t seem to be. Lovely lady, she wasn’t the only one, predicting doom, it went trough many of the business staff. But cos she was out main banking tut I recall her lectures of it, and the yet to happen Spanish collapse that happened about 12 months after.
So again, the BoE knew it was coming, they just didn’t know how soon. The media painted it as ‘out of the blue’, but watch or read many of the pieces written since, everyone knew, Especally on the US side of the pond.
I’ve just found out last weak, my girl 21, has had her dyslexic privalides revoked. If anything having them know is working against her.
It was only two nights ago so haven’t had time to dig into it. But form what she said, it seems backwards. But I wouldn’t put that past the system! Total side subject to brexit.
Dave the News cycles are so short now, no one is found out for more than 5 mins. Then it’s just business as usual.
The bank of England’s assessment isn’t as healthy looking as yours VFM growth reduction for 8%, 25% hit on the pound plus high inflation. All the good stuff needed for nosediving an economy. One that would take a mirricle to pull up from.
Though it will all be pushed aside as project fear, just like the rest was, untill it became project reality.
I was away for a long weekend with the family. I told the wife not to bring up brexit, as there was two of us, out of a large family, of family’s, (nice weekend in barnmouth Btw) that was for remain the rest was against it. So I cba with politics.
To my amazement almost a 100% turn around on the leave front. all bar one admited they was conned, or didn’t want to see the remains point of view.
I didnd chip in, no fun in saying I told you so so, so just listened. A few of the people there I’ve never heard them opnely say they was wrong about anything. Funny what a bar selling bud on draft and the world’s selection of sprite can do.
All to a man, (except the one), want another ref.to rectify their idiotic dicision. Their words not mine.
What’s happened is they all own propities, either rent or flip, and most are reaching retirement age or passed it, it’s dawned on them their shekels aren’t going to stretch as far as once thought. few in the group have been selling of sterling for gold. Othes for dollars.
Just between this table of about 20 families if reckon a couple of million has left the economy. This doesn’t bowd well when you scale it up.
I still see another vote, and use staying put. Nothing else makes sense. Nothing.
You could try the app ‘recuva’ and run your sd card through it. But that’s all I coidp think of. I’ve had both success and failure from it.
Gald you’re back ?
I heard the other day this week ms rolled out an update that was screwing with sound. they swiftly put a stop to the patch.
Could it be that or is that just a coincidence?
Thanks Lee for keeping us informed. Gald to hear Bob is OK.
Es file explorer does the job, it comes with ads though.
The pro version doesn’t, and is worth it’s price just to support the dev team alone. It’s a great app, and quite powerful.
Tbh I’ve not even used the girls for a few months, and on my phone, you can re add the app draw too, so probably could for her tablet. I just never put the two together. Lol
It’s a cracker of a tablet. I was amazed by the sound. And it’s powerful enough for everything my girl throws at it. Well I’ve jid no complaints off her, and she speds at least an hour every night on it before bed.
Very nice. But like everything, whack the Google now launcher on it, for a quick and dirty more stock look, and it adds back in the app draw which hauwei stock launcher takes away,to look more ios. Or like I do on the my phone use nova launcher, and the pixel icon pack (youtube it) and set up to look very stock indeed. Takes about 20mins.
My girl had a huawei media pad M3 light 8″. Cost me £180 last Xmas, and it’s brilliant. Some amazing sound too.
My wife’s had 2 huawei phones (P9 and P20) and I’ve had 2 (nexus 6P and P20 Pro), they make great kit.
So if you can get a M3 light for a good price I’d recomend it.the non lite version I think is 10″ if you want a bit more real estate.
Though unless your buying a new device, for a big brand, Samsung, Huawei, HTC you’ll get two years worth of os updates, (but still security patches ad they come from Google) or an ipad you’ll get a good few years is support.
But if you buy a cheaper one, even form the names avive (minus apple) you’ll likely just goer the Google security patches. But that doesn’t make them unusable.
I have a bunch of kindle fire cheapo tablets, you can side load the play store in that. But as Chris said, they are not great, but fine for webpages or data viewing apps, and a mini TV. But your not going to do any heavy lifting with one, and tbh the res is not great so if your wanting to view read a lot of data off one, I’d probably say pass on them.
As go windows tablets, u think you need Atleast the surface 4, I’m sure that’s the one that gor good reviews, all before it was bug riddled and I never seem any good press off anyone that actually used one for more than reviewing one (hope that makes sense). Basically anyone that used one for any period of time soon realised they was poor. So 4 is decent, but relativly expensive and tbh a bit pointless. I don’t get really get them.
If es file explore can’t see it, I don’t know what will
Ive never heard of the situation JC discribes. Es should see all the files on your device or sdcxcard
That’s a good point Dan, I never had an issue with the weight of mine, but like you I come from an all metal watch.
One that has almost been fully put away since I got the smart watch. And I’ve worn that watch almost every day since my 21st birthday.
I decide that cis a smart watch is only gonna live 3 years max, I’d fully move to it to get my moneys worth out of it. So the tag is in hibernation. I’ll save it for special occations.
What’s will be the true test is if I buy another at the end of this ones current life, of go back to the tag.
I don’t like the look of most of them, I only chose the one I did because it looks almost normal.
Below is what I have, but with the ‘marine commander’ watch face I can’t seem to get watch screen shot to work, otherwise I’d show thst off.
This watch (fosil exporist)

With this watch face

It’s only a bargain if you want the item. The new gen 3 dot looks a massive upgrade to the gen 2 dot. They was £25 last Friday. (amazon started early).
Not only is the sound much better, you can now sterio them like Google minis. Given the dot has a aux in, a pair could make a good pc set up.maybe.
I’d stick with the better known brands. The savings are not enough to take a punt anymore.
I’ve now decided that any product the US or UK warn us off because they are insecure, actually means, they can’t get access to them.
And as I’d take an ‘enemy’ state spying on me over my own, I’d take the product the gov warns me off.
Quite sad when you think about it. And the day I start my drug cartel, or start my world revolution (not decided which yet), I’ll remove all devices from the board room.
As it stands now, I have many google, an amazon, and a xiaomi hub in ears distance from me, should get somthing Russian don’t want them to feel left out. Plus Microsoft and android, so I’m covering most bases when sharing my mundane life. Once my life gets “exciting” they’ll all have to go.
Damn then I’ll have to physically turn the lights on/off with my fingire. F-that, they can have my secrets.
Good luck to Bob. As pm says, pass on our thoughts Lee. ?
I have that exact chair. It’s held up well had it 2 years almost.
Cheers for trying but they tried a second time for payment. Normal procedure, I should of fon into the app and canceled it, so I’m on it for another year. Lol.
Thanks anyway. I’m not bothered as it’s worked for me for years, I was just interested in seeing what options was out there. I think I’ll set a reminder to look next year, and cancel it before it takes the cash.
