All town centres are similar.you have all the ‘competing’ estates with only one main place to congragate at weekends.
Warrington Centre, Especally smiths, was always rough come closing time. I once had a fight in a back of a taxi cab, as a pair of lads thought they could jump in and tell me and my mate to get out. Hammered them we did, but then the taxi man just looked at us, and said, you ain’t getting a lift either now.
We tried to argue the fact it want our fault, but he was more concerned about getting his cab cleaned out before the blood dried.
Half the reason I stopped going clubbing, was the issues at the end the nights.
Proper night clubs like the cream was alwways fun, and rearly issues, probably as half was stoned and the other on excacty, but your run of the mill nigh spots, full of coke and booze, was alway a re ipy for distster. Especally in towns with only one focal point.
Where I live now, the closest night spot is Rhyl, and the place is a no go after midnight. For years I’d pick my kids up at rhyl bustation at 00:10 as they got off the last bus from work, and the amount of police all parked in the bus station, you’d thing an invation was about to kick off.
The first few times I pulled up, I’d get questioned about why I’m there, they check the car, and give me a breathalyser. But then they knew who I was and give me a nod.
In other news, I just nipped into tesco for some bits, and OMG they are open till 7, then re open at 10am, it was mayhem.
I had a coverarion with a 80 plus year old women about a pie, she said it was great, so I said I’d try two. I followed it up with I’ll find you if theyre not (jokingly of course) Her reply was you will have to be quick, I’m old you know. I love a dark sense of humour.
Lee – What’s a trump ip? Have you blacklisted the Whitehouse lol?
Personally can’t see what all the fuss is about NY Eve / Day – worked most of the NY Eves in my 30 years in the police – result on the following morning – bad heads, more debt – results – same bills different year number – that’s all.
I don’t like it, mainly cos, I’d go my regular anyway if I did go out. I go their cos I like the prople in there. The issue is its full of allsorts who don’t usally go out, taxis cost a fortune, A lot of nornal pubs decided to charge for entry, and there’s up the cost.
Not to mention, people you don’t like, or don’t like you, all have to pretend.
I’m not one who likes compulsory planned fun, so we stay in, and watch films. Given we don’t have live TV, it’s a rare occasion we make an effort to sit down together and watch something as a family. It’s Xmas eve and nye, So it’s nice.
Well it means sitting through some girly Disney type film, but still it’s nice.
Only ever been out as an adult 3 or 4 times on new years. Never liked it at all. Last time I got bottled twice in Warrington. Sigh.
Don’t say that. My fourth NY in Warrington tonight and never had any problems. Mind you, I avoid Bridge Street year round. Is that, perhaps, where you went wrong? Nevertheless, it’ll be the 9 Gallon for me ?
Yes, but this was in the day of Mr Smiths might club, that we use to go quite often. Whe we was young. Trackie and cap nights on a Tuesday iirc. Lol. Although the once dent was in a pub further up bridge Street.
To top the night off, our driver got pulled over in penketh, so he got his own lift, and we had to get a taxi.

As for reviews of Xmas gifts, I got new thermals for trh footy. They kept me worm on boxing day. Other than that it was vouchers and smellies. So nothing at all to review.
Tomorrow I’ll be doing the same thing we always do (bar a few seasons ago when we went the footy on NE), which is watch a film, eat a tack away, then watch the London fireworks on TV. Then bed.
Happy new year Lee,(and all formites) , I’m with you on it feeling like one massive long week. All the days are blending into one.
It probably doesn’t help that never do anything for newyear either.
Though the festive footy has been excellent.
Also a big thankyou to you Lee for keeping this place going. ?
It’s 26litres however there is an infinite ways (almost) to get to 26litres.
So if you need an exact WxHxD you’d be better going into town or contacting the sellers, before you purchase.
Not really a dad joke, but love these Hitler parodies. And when is made for José and united, I couldn’t resits
West ham even gets a mention.
Steve I some how missed your posts. Hope all goes well mate ?
Same for all here, I know many are fighting their own battles too. Here is to beating the lot ??
That was a long day. My girl 10 stayed up all night, my 16 lad, was up ill all night. They both got off around 6am, and my eldest girl woke the house at 07:00h with er work alarm, and my eldest lad turned up at 07:15h! So that was everyone up them. (even the dogs looked pissed off!)
Dropped them all at the in laws at 12:00h and us men went the pub, and as my eldest girl was in work and not back till 17:00h, dinner wasn’t till 18:00h,so for the first year since I’ve been attending, we was home before the women had had to send us 10 messages. At 17:30h a bit worse for wear, (the women was in much better order tbh).
So a bottle of rose with my lunch and I was home for 20:00h, and asleep within seconds. And woke at 23:00h.
My 10yo lasted just to finish dinner, and went bed, so is still at her Nan’s, she was saying anyway as we’re at the footy tomorrow. Cba if I’m honest, but M taking my lad and nephew,so can’t bail.
I did get new thermal, which is all I asked for, so I’ll Atleast be warm. My old pussers ones zeitjer shank or I’ve finally out expanded them. I opt for the former, and blame the wife. Lol.
All the stuff is done now. Whatever isn’t, well, it’s too late to change it now.
Although we can’t find the MiL presant, and we are due there at 12pm. So there will be some frantic searching no doubt tomorrow morning. Other than that all is done.
For the past many years, I’ve ended up waking the kids at 10am (due to trh 12pm MiL trip), but tomorrow my eldest girl is in work at 6am, so I’m hoping she doesn’t wake her sister up. As that will suck.
Then boxing day I’m at the footy. Glad it’s a late kick off, as no doubt I’ll be rough as hell.
Great news Bob, you had me, and us here, worried for a moment.
Happy Christmas all. Hope the next year is better than the last.
Though I’m sat here in home alone pj’s! So I’m not sure which way my Xmas is about to go!!!
All the best Bob, keep your chin up, and see you when you get home.
And thank you Lee for The news.
What is crap about it? Picture is brilliant and so is the city. Did I miss something?
That’s is some real CIA style Hollywood spy satalite shit going one there. Love it.
Enhance, enhance, enhance, got him. Lol.
All jokes aside, that a hell of a shot, its not even a long expose job, as all the people at ground level are very crisp. Also it doesn’t look stitched either. All the ones I’ve seen before this have been stitched. There is a good one of obamas inauguration made up of 100s of 20mx shots. Not a patch on this one.
Visa only cover purchases over 100£.
Broke my toe 4 weeks ago, so last week I bought myself a pair of sketchers. OMG I dont know why I haven’t done this before. They are like slipper, but for outside.
Well probably as they was always geared towards kids, then gym, then girls, but now they have some mice mens stuff that will go with jeans.
Mine look a bit like retro 70s blue suede Adidas trainers. But super light and comfy.
I don’t know if it’s coincidence or the shoes, but over the last week, my toe has eased about 70% of what it was the first 4 weeks.
Thanks Bob, she is OK, when the rash appears, your amolst over it. Though she stayed off today, she has the sore throat, headache etc (cold symptoms) that come with it.
She only went in yesterday as it was the Xmas party and lunch, in Xmas jumpers. Today all they do is watch a video and play games. So when I woke her, I asked her if she wanted to go in, she said no. So I gave their soem paracetamol and she is still asleep now. 5h later.
Have family visits to do tomorrow, back home, so I’m hopeing she is OK, as I cba with a sick 10 year old girl in thd back of my car and by my side of about 12h tomorrow.
My area is far form quaint englishness, pronaly because its Wales. But being in the North, its neither very Welsh.
However is quient and what you’d think of as a traditional country village. We lost our single foreigners when the chines was closed down (dirty) and now its a crappy Chinese, but assuming clean.
It’s a nice place to live. However Rhyl isn’t far, I actully look over the top of Rhyl out my back winwows. That has issues, lots of homeless, crime and immegrants that people like to blame for stuff. So Rhyl is quintessentially a brit town ?
Back home in Liverpool (even though I’ve spent more time now out of Liverpool), it has a massive militcultual inhabitance, but its a) the better for it. Its one of thd few city’s that embraces outsiders and can see their worth. Probably why they was a firm stay. They don’t have the ‘foreigners are bad’ indoctrinated into them from birth.
Liverpool would be a lesser palce if it was all white. Being a port city it’s people like to look outwards rather then inwards. A great place with some of the finest, freindlest people in the uk.
Though tbf most of the North is very friendsly. Even Manchester, well now that José as pissed off, everyone seems happy (except the scousers).
One of my favour paces is Newcastle and Leeds, northerners are just nice. Untill you piss them off, then they’ll glass you. But at least thy will give the the chance to begin with.
