Happy birthday Richard hope you have a good day.
To my amazement my throw away password that we use alot for crap we don’t car about. Mainly newsletter sign ups, that demand a pw but you don’t trust fully. Us only on Thr list twice.
The down side to that is, them 2 sites they got the pw from eoudo of definialy been connected to my email.
In my last pass account that same password is used for about 100 seperate accounts. Non damaging. But I think it is time to drop it. And maybe hit that ‘clean up’ button in last pass that has been pestering for about 2 years.
I must admit, I now have no idea of what is currently happening, or will happen. I’m now totally at a loss. I feel I was since this began, but it’s dawning on my now I’ve never understood what our government and parliament has been upto.
Ive never studied something so much over such a period, and at each trun of events I’ve felt further away then when I started.
That’s it. Someone just tell me when it’s over. Probably some time in the mid 2030s.
A good old Bill Binneys graph. Now wepponised to track everyone.
It wasn’t what he intended it for. but given he was cia, I’m sure he knew what it would be used for.
Perfect for rooting out terrist cells, or anyone an organisation doesn’t like. Replace Linux with a famous name. Then you see how dangerous this is. And all they need is meta data.
Edit–NSA not CIA. The project was called Thin thread
The first point about the EU putting pressure on the uk to decide is true. However its more a case of to get A50 extention all 27 nations have to agree to it, just one can veto it and it’s a no.
The EU just want this done, either way now.
However we don’t need any of the 27s permission to just kill brexit. So this is just a tool which they have the right to use. As they really want us to stay. So they want mays deal to fall flat, and them it puts a massive pressure on the uk to either device leave or stay. In a very small space of time.
I don’t see how this is bad, if we was in this position, we would be doing the same thing. That is terrible that the conservitve party have lead us to this point.
I watching parliament last night (yt rerun) and its a mess, they are still arguing way they want and don’t want, and haven’t realised. That what your want was never on the table. It’s a legal seperation not a political exercise. There is no deals to be had.
If the government understood this form day one. Ie we leave and take anything they offer us (or don’t), and planned for the actual event, we may be in a position where leaving won’t cripple us.
As it is, the government has shit the bed and is just rolling around in it, trying to pin blame on who did it.
Get her vote binned, axe brexit, and for god sake bleach that bedding. Or better yet bin it and get a new
governmentbedding setUes Ed some countries want a deposit that is the equvianlt of the whole cost of shipment. Which for small companies is a massive issue. As DHL etc isn’t going to cover thst for you. Thought that’s extreme cases.
VHM given the poor showing of our on government over the last couple of years. And the new intervrsty imitives documents that are coming out, I don’t know why you wouldn’t want oversight of out rulers.
Once Our of the EU, and have no oversite, the orwellian state will grow. That is why brexit is about, full control over us the people. Which sounds OK, if you trust your gov, and it’s direction. So you? I know I dont. All the shit we are blaming Russia for doing, say by day its turning out we also do them.
I don’t think either is correct in doing this stuff, but I don’t car about what Russia does to its people (well I do, but lots play in a vacuum ) but I do care on what the British and it’s allies are doing greatly. As that effects me my wife children and all I care for.
The uk you want for isn’t a great thing. Nether is the EU BTW, I’m not a big euro fan at all. Before brexit started, I didn’t care for them at all. I still don’t. However I can still see being withing the EU is better for us thean being out of it.
And it all comes down to ecomonics. Everything else is built off that. The EU may collapse in a week or in 50 years, that’s the time to leave. If we leave now we are potentially speeding up the break up of the EU. Then we have problems ahead. As In its the first step to a European war.
The only If and Buts are; IF we leave the EU, we are obliged to take WTO terms and will be serverly damamaged by them. BUT if cwe stay we won’t.
Security is a great argument, I’ll give you that. However if we don’t have a stable economy and we won’t have the money to secure bugger all.
So economy trumps security. As it needed to come first. Income tax was introduce for the very purpose of security. Well to fight the French wars. Like all over taxes it never went away after the war ended. Now it funds the state including securing it.
Now if we was to leave, we would have to scale back the armed forces anyhow, meaning probably being pushed out of nato, which woundt be that bad as then we could just look after our own borders. And stop messing around in others business. However then without the might of the joint European nations we would be far more exposed to a Russian, American, EU, Indian, chines etc…. Threat. As we are a small fish in a huge ocean.
So the best security is to stay in the biggest alliance on the planet. Especally with the likes of Russia America China and even Indian strengh.
Stronger together comes to mind. Actually wasnt that one of the remains slogans? Has a better ring than better alone, that’s for sure.
I’d actually like to see this EU army that the leavers keep saying is a thing, actually be come a real thing. We would be a far more manoverable deterent, if we had one director, or own streamlined military cabinet in place. And probably save a fortune over all, as I can only assume atm the EU as a whole with have a lot of duplicate and redundant arms of its armies. Under one umbrella it could be reformed in to a much more focused force.
It won’t happen, but it actually should. Also it would tie it together even stonger. The more I think about the EU as a being the more I thing it needs more integration not less.
Not to mention the deals the government have stuck with companies to set up here, instead of mainland, once they can’t take advantage of the open market which no doubt was in the contracts. They will be suing the government in the hauge.
That will look good when we a begging some nationins to strike deals with us. No one will trust us to honour future deals.
I like the idea of us craclshikg out and it hitt the farmers the hardest. Given for some mental reason they almost all voted to leave. (apparently).
I still think may is playing chicken, she il will never no deal. If she doesn’t get her crap through, she’ll blink. We’ll she’ll cop out and run, and someone else will come in and end this mess.
Soros has a lot of the Democrats that’s for sure. And he is exteemly rich and more dangerously powerful.
He sent us packing to the imf begging bowl, and I’ve hear it said with.one press release he can crash economies. I can’t recall of the top ofv my head but China blame him for some act in the 90s (maybe 2000s). Also he had dealings trying to get nations on board to save the tanking economy of the USSR iirc. He written a big press release in the FT or NYT or similar. Also he helped out the Jews in the bosinian crysis. And has big dealings in the scam that is Hati.
So the man leads an interesting life. The main bit wax always stands out is that his father a jew, sent him to live with a local mayor (or equivalent) when the Nazis rolled in, and he spent his teen years taking Jewish possetions for the nazi. Now I don’t mind that, when in that position, what would you do. What I find strange is his attitude towards it in an interview imhe done about ten years ago. A real evil grin, followed by it was an adventure. There seemed no remorse.
He is very close to the Clinton’s, so for thst alone, with out all the other stories of him. I’m not gonna warm to him.
As regards to putin, in under no illusion he is a nice leader. But I don’t think he is any better or worse than our own leadership. The press seem to love ramming putin stories down our neck so much, one has to start thinking there is alterior motives. We are being pre programmed to be accepting when war comes. The question is why? And for what ends. That’s the bit that leaves a foul taste in my mouth and had done for years.
Yes he is a bad guy, but I also remeber pre 2013, when the assads was on a world tour and being touted as the blueprint for the middle east. Free education for all, non secular stae, free education for all (Inc women) , then over night they was spun out as the devil. Which coincided with the Saudis asking the US to fix the assad issue and they wousl bank roll it. Which was on record in the house representives, secretary of state John kerry said Sauid have offered to bankroll us militery intervention.
Add that to the who pipe line theory, of neededing put a pipe across Sryia going it to Turkey, all makes sense. As Russia, their allie (for selfish reasons), won’t let the assads do.
So a good old USA ragime change was started, and bodged badly. Given they got slapped with the illigal and immoral card by Russia. Oh The irony in being out moraled by Russia.
Then there is the whole ‘white hat thing’ that ties isis to the supisably good guys, that is funded by the uk, us, imf, etc… The whole thing is a mess of the highest order.
Thr us is funding them, but last year wouldn’t let there leader (or spokes person) into America as they class them as a terrorist org.
Reminds me of the Victor Bout, Russian arms dealer that was funded and working for one arm of the USA and being chased by the other. These guys need some internal communication lessons. It’s a great read the whole Victor bout thing. He was being paid by all sides to deliver arms one way for one Aids, solders the other way for the other side, and traific drugs for othes while doing this. Getting paid 3x for each trip.
Now at the time if some one to say this, you’d be a conspiracy theorist, ike that’s nemt to be a bad term BTW. They are all theories until proven true. Then just a conspiracy. But one needs to start somewhere. All police are conspiracy theorists, it’s their job, as are spooks, and jernos. It’s the media and governments that had tried to tarnish the term to make outcasts that don’t accept the BS fed to them.
Lol, this ended up long, it was written over 4 periods while bored in the ozzy.
(had some good news too, so one is in a chipper mood).
It’s a shame she died. It would be nice to know for what? As no one ever belived the offical line anyhow, or only the few gulable enough. Something was always a miss.
It will be interesting over the next few days as the revaluations come out what is in the documents. American have their hands full too regarding this. Interesting times ahead.
It’s not wonder London and Liverpool and their places have been having protests over the last weeks. No one is happy with the current direction of the country.
@edps speaking of a non democracy, what do you think of this?
Bigbrother is here, looks like the Russian poisoning was a load of BS. Not that we belived the story. Looks like it was made up and everyone was in on it. Shaping minds and public views on potential enemies.
Probably right Ed. Was about 5 years ago now.
That ties in with my first post saying it’s not unheard of for marines to carry 140lb. I hear in the failklands it was closer to 200. I’m not sure how they did it. As anything over a 100, we’d sit on the floor, put the burgan on, then your oppo pulls you up. Then youd return the favour. Quite often, Especally when tired. You’d both end up on the floor, and have to start again.
Soilders are very anal when it comes to what weighs what. Every oz needs to be justified. Also probably 50 percent or greater, is replaced non issue kit. (or it was), as in thd 90s the kit was light years behind what you coidp get on civvy Street. So when Kosovo was building up, we all went out an raided mullets, blacks and all the local outdoors suplyiers.
And chemist’s. Inrubrpfen and co codamol was like gold. And we’d stock up on sanatery towels and zinkoxide tape.
Basically blow a month’s wages. Just to go and do your job.
Luckimgy even in the 90s, there want much call out side of training exversises to lump such heavy loads that far. The faulkands was an exception to the rule. Mostly your moving with a patrols sack (25lb) , webbing and fifle,(22lb), and plus 3 of the 8 would have a Law, gpmg and tripod. So relative light on your feet.
When you add the burgan, the patrol sack 25lb, is part of the overall burgsn weight and not additionally to it. Your burgan will keep you alive for a week or more (we indifitally) your patrol sack is a 48h survival kit and ammo. Taken out of the burgan, that will be house at a FOB or left at an RV point, to be collected after the patrol or encounter.
Youre lucky there was no wild life survey carried out. That’s what killed all our wildlife. Sigh…
The houses aren’t an issue, they are in one way and ad no traffic. The issue always was this was one of the last, if not the last, place the amimals had. I’d bet there had been generation animal that never left that small plot of land.
Hopfully all that was inside made it up to the mountain sides and fiend a new home. Its doubtful though.
Yes, militery kit has to be tough, so that makes it heavy. Plus we never got good modern stuff. And we didn’t want it, as it alway broke.
Coming back to weights. On top of what I metionsed. In even 8 man section, one wouidp carry a gpmg (about 30lb), his oppo Thr tri pod about 20lb, anther guy a LAW(94 in my time) which was probably 25lb. And ammos for the gpmg wousl be split between the section. The ones not carry the gpmg or stand (which was a bitch), would have a higher percentage of rounds, to try an more even distribution.
This is why most infentry men are knackered within 5 years. You have a lifetime or more wear and tear, on backs, hips, knees ancles and elbows. Not to mention your reet. But they seem to recover well. I couldn’t tell you how many toe nails I lost, over the years. Pull off your scocks and shack your nails out.
Thr up side to thst is, you get to do drill in your trainers, when back on bace. Or even get out of it. Hated drill, hours of boredom. So you got to feal all your aches and pains.
Could never of been a guard. Good soilders but I couldn’t do their guards duties. F-that.
I’ve said this before in sure, but at the rear of my FiL house, is a valley that looks up to my house on the other side. (my side is higher and looks over his to the sea. Anyhow, close to his there was a Small wooldalnd with protected spices.
A well know build company, wad tyring to get permission to build. the council said that they could employ some one to carful burrow into the wood and see that’s in it. A week later the ripped the lot on while everyone isn work, and said ‘nope nothing their.’
They later apologied said they mis understood ‘see what’s in there’, took a small fine and built there 6 houses.
Our of principle they should never of been allowed to build in the bourgh again. But it was all obvious alot of back handers and funny hand shakes.
You rearly win agsisnts these big firms, they have the councilors in their pockets, before they even start down the road.
It was a real shame, at thso small pat h of woodland was that dencesly packed I doubt any human had stpeded foot there for 100s if not a 1000 years. To was a sanctuary to may foxes, badgers, lizards and birds. You know countryside shit. It, and they are gone. To the virus known as man.
Yep, webbing and rifel is around 22lb, the burgan starts on in training week one at about 30lb and riseses up to 70lb ish. But once, an mountain leader burgan can tip 150 easy. And all that is a try representation of how heavy they get in operation.
It’s not unheard of for a solder to be caring 140 plus on active service. Problay one of the most famomoise of all load carries is thd 60 miles across the failklands over marshland in bad weather with full kit. And covering in a few days dropping burgans alony the way. Massive respect to them guys, (yes even the paras) and not to the army guards, they realised with in a mile, they couldn’t do it. As I’m sure they could of made thd lads down it, but would of lost many miles after mile, and been in no shape to fight.
One of the commando tests for marines is ony 22lb plus 70lb over 12miles in 4 and a half hours iirc. Remeber they are mostly kids that weigh about 10-12stone. So about 75% of there wight. and the morning after they compete and pass, the endurance which sounds thd easiest test, but if by far the hardest). Accully my minds failing me, it way of been the tarze assalt first. The tests always went from a Friday, to Monday, on a dat. And the laid carry was in sure a Saturday. (long time ago now)
However this is a light load to what we had been using in training, and a 10 mile load carry wasn’t that rare of a thing to do in trianing. So it was just the speed of it what hurt. (sespecally for us short legged guys).
Though I’d always (back then), of taken a load carry over a speed March. I’ve said this before speed marches I hated, Especally if a tall lad was front left position, and he opens his legs out. It would kill me. I suppose when a short guy was dictating pace, the tall guy felt like they was doing twice as many steps to cover the same ground.
But I do recall bob saying he had no issues speed marching and he is shot arse like me. (5,8).
Back on subject. There is no way any soldier uk or us, is caring zonly 70lb in total. Maybe that is rifal webing and partol/day sack, (fighting order) when you have drop for burgan off.
I recall being I Norway with the MLs (just with them, not part of them) and asking why non an issue burgans, they say they had always been allowed to use there own better quality, as the marine issue ones failed fast, (with in hours).they talked about a short time in late 80s early 90s, when orders came down that all MLs must use issue burgans. First excersice out as the begans was drobeed by rope of the belos the burgans torn and expladed the contents evewher. In minus 20 plus, that end of excersice.
They never improved the burgans, they just re rescinded the order, letting them use their own kit agsin.
Talking all things military did you see that trump said he was moving troops out or sryisa and half out of afghan? I know the half exited afghan in just over a week of his tweet (lol tweet) .
Yesterday the 9/11 blackmail docs come across my radar, it got me thinking or wondering did the government have some knowalge that these docs was coming or Atleast the theat of what could be in them, be enough to scare the US give into bringing alot of troops stateside fast. Its going to be interesting few weeks non the less.
If it wad an inside job, or if they let it happen, I can’t see them (whomever them would be) ever letting out such a secret. As it would finish America, and crash global economies.
This is all great info.
I’m sure now dave Google allows you to have a family account for picture so more than on account can send pics to whoever owns the ‘primary account’ . I looked into a when it first launched, but you basically have to upload everything, and no one wants every photo uploading form there phone to a library many can see.
I could see it ending in disaster. So for good reason I didn’t turn that on. Usally if we are at an place or occasion, when we get home ill start a new album (2019 Jan fair) then sabre it with the wife, then she drops her decent photo from the day into said album. So then we both have access.
When she does stuff and I’m not there she will share the album and me vice veice versa.
It’s nice to see you have a way of auto sending your photos back to symbology in your case, as that at least tells me it’s an option that can be done.
Ive been very happy with my set up for years, I’ve not thought about photo back ups for years. Flikr I love, but £8 per month, is too steap, for somthing I use are a back up to my back up, so don’t use any features..
Oh, the mountain I live on is an old lead mine, founded by the Romans, and used for a long time. I know a shaft runs parrell to my house about 60 foot behind the house.
There is an old small garden centre, that the owner want to build on, and they done a servery and got refused. So I the worst of all worlds. In not to fused. Its late over 100 years and Im not planning on going anywhere.
I need to do a little more digging. But.for my use, I’m hoping I’ll never have to download the files. Just a few mb up a month. Probably a gig or two, over a year.
I’ll still be using Google photos and my main stariage, view and share platform. The who Amazon thing thing isn’t for the faint harted. There is alot of stuff going on in there.
You need to be relative tech savy just to understand that you need to learn some new skills just to use it. Any normal person would open it, and close it within 30 seconds.
