I was only joking John, I needed to redo my PW anyhow, lee set up the account for me about 3 years ago , with a very simple pw, so I was about 3 years overdue. It was super insecure.

So if anything your issue fixed mine. Well it fixed my lazyness, but uncovered a flaw in the current set up. But as it’s due to be changed it’s not a real issue.

Lee needs all the feedback on any quirks, as we find them. But given its new and his hobby , I don’t expect the small ones like fonts etc  to be top of his todo. He can start on the little things once the big things are in place.

Just know that he reads all the post here and makes a note of the flaws. It’s Mort worth Jim replaying after every post, otherwise every second post will be “thanks I’ll look into it”, as there is nothing else for him to say.

When he does fix stuff, he adds it to the top pinned forum, can’t recall it’s total. Update fixes or similar .

It’s nice to see traffic has picked up these last few days. A bonus of the added traffic is these bugs should be spotted faster. Actually I’m not sure that is a bonus for lee

You inadvertently caused me a load of bother earlier John. I decided to reset my PW, so had to re log in after it, just to seat it out .Logged out then on chrome for android, it wouldn’t let me select the PW input box, I tried and tried.

In the end I had to log into my lastpass , input user and PW save it, them load formite login and let last pass log me in. Usually I’d log in the tell LP to remember the details .

Any how the login page doesn’t like chrome on android . But by doing it backwards way round I got there.

When lee implements his final version , I’ll re check the login and the raise it with him if it’s not functioning as it should. Only because chrome on android is a common set up now , if I was using some random browser I woudnt mention it.

Ironically xscope browser my fall back worked flawlessly.

Don’t you just stay logged in? Should only be an issue once.

I have only ever logged in once. I let last pass do all my logging in usually  but here I think it’s just chrome that tembeted it. I need to change that to LP and change my PW while  I’m at it. I’ve only had my account on her for 3 years  I’ll wave to look through chrome pw manager to see what my PW actually is. :negative:

There is a definite mix up with autonomy and AI, I purposely picked GPS guided autonomy as it was mentioned a few post back, and I don’t count any of that as AI, but do think things like that do add to the overall compiters/robots taking jobs.  So yes comptealy diffent, but also I’d partridge of our future issues , as they get better. I’d count an auto tractor , in the same bracket as a self check out, or a robot arm on a shop floor, definitely not “smart” just a one trick pony, but still takes the job of a person.

AI is a totally different kettle of fish, and I think trully years off. However is an automated car/truck AI driven? I don’t think it is, but it’s faux AI, I has a alot of ore detemand parameters, and it makes decisions based upon the guy (team ) that written the answers to the parameters.

I do think that once more cars and trucks are ‘concerned’, along with all personal phones for pedestrians  , the  transport network will be one of the first AI driven infosructures.

Given most mid range cars now come with more sensors than apollo had, and also come with “conciegre” (stealth networked ) , I can see within ten years all older cars will need to have an obd2 black box , like kids have for insurance, that links them to the network, so selfdirven cars can see them, and give them a wider birth. Maybe 15 years.

I thought this was talking of AI and the future, not ‘dumb’ configurable line  robots or GPS guoted tractors etc. Actually both have neen around now for a long time . The huge us farms set there harvesters up by plotting the feilds on a PC, a simple as tracing the feild outline, and pinpoining hazards like ditches, and pylons , etc and setting a start end point and the PC will plot the most efficient course , you just sent it too via WiFi or USB , then drove the machine to the feild and let it get on with the day’s work. Meet the machines at the end point , or predetermined fuel point .

In the EU AI trucks (artics)are rolling out all ready testing, it won’t be long before they are the norm, taxis won’t be far behind. Black cabs and any unionised taxis will be the first to go as uber wlare in prime position to ditch the drivers and push down the prices asap.

Again it will be the unions that actually kill the taxis . As while the cabnies will fighting to keep self drriving cabs out, uber will build up a fleat over night , prove it works, then cabs will be gone in a short few years.

Any thing unionised, will actually be worse for that sector/company.  I can’t see how with out law’s you can stop it, and then if law’s was made, would just mean them jobs(rolls)  would go AI in another country , out price the one with the laws and hit the economy.

I see a future of high taxes on the AI heavy industries, tax only has to be set at a rate just lower than wages, for that company (all compamies ) to support the over 50% and at that point growning non working class.

But the whole tax to support the nation deal , will also hurt profits, and push rolls to cheaper taxed nations . So if a country wants to me inward looking, it will need to have very high import duties to keep companies from leaving, but still then they would just keep as much manufacturing on the inside as needed. I think a more global aproch is needed for a future of AI, and population stability.

Also the term non working class at some point will have to stop being a dirty term.

It’s a super intresring question this one. With unlimited answers/opinions that few will ever agree on.

the second way looks good , all as sub forums under the ‘makers’ or a better title if one can he thought off.

I only think they should be under a [incert title ] forum as the layout having one big list of forums on the home page I think would get to long.

Hope your feeling better.  I’m tired again now ! Stupid body clock.

Yes can’t wait for the footy, a wee bit nervous hoping we don’t undo our 100% Xmas run. I went up to Sunderland last Jan for this fixture , think it was the 10th, we got beat!

And you can’t get out the place. It was a late game, so never got out the ground to gone 10, stuck in a one way around the ground for an hour (like most games), but the kicker is there is one road along the river bank to the bridge that leads to the motorway. It took 3 hours to make it the motorway before I could start the 4 or 5 hour drive . Iirc it was either lashing down or foggy, so I couldn’t even gun it . Got home about 5am!  So not going today, even though it’s a 3pm kick off.

Given its 3pm, means a dodgy titnernet stream! Stupid premier league rights.

Ms are still to make a bean off the Xbox project. The money they injected into it is massive. And 80million units over 7 or 8 years makes the numbers tiny.  Take a smart phone , if you only shifted 10m units in a year , your out of business, and their profits bet unit is large.

There is way over 2billion android devices sold over the last 10 years, about 1.3billion  units are from Samsung. Apples figures are not far behind. Samsung’s span from £150 devices up to £800, I think apples average sales price is about £700 world wide. We actually have them quite cheap compared to many countries. China and Australia about £900, Brazil about £1200 or 1500usd. Not bad for something that cost about 150 to build and the same to ship and market. Big profits. The Xbox was sold way below cost without marketing and R and D.

I can only imagine the latest gen, where much cheaper to design given they are just mid range pcs, though most are really cheap now. A ps4 mk1 was selling with a game [infinity warfare] and a single controller for £180 on Amazon on the run up to Xmas. The Xbox about £220 with FIFA. The parts alone have to be worth more than that

Sadly I couldn’t track down an mm this week, I tried. Wanted a physical one, bit may grab a digital copy tomorrow/ later on.

Happy new year all. Had a great new year’s day, had no kids, So stayed in bed till 2pm. Dropped wife at mother in law’s , went pub, watched football , went in law’s, ate too much, drank more and was in bed for 10pm !

So now I’m up and ready to start the new year. Happy new year all, here is to a better 2017 ?

I actually woke at 4am, went down to make a coffee and heard giggling congratulations form my 8 year olds room, turn out as no one told her to turn the iPad off, she just kept watching it! Little madam. She will be tired tomorrow as she is up at 8, as school starts Wednesday.

Yes ras pi, but also something for makers would be better. Actually ‘makers ‘ would be an ideal title , it could fit in ras pi and all its derivatives , plus ardino and all its clones etc..

Thanks John I did get a floaty window across my phone thellomg me to mentioned me.

However I was in this forum at the time as lee just mentioned me at sgb, which sent me an email,  (that is getting turned off btw ), but I never seemed to get a chrome/android noification , tour John I got both , bit itay just of been cos I was already on the site.

Both times I didn’t seem to get notification msg in the header of the page.

I’ll keep an eye on it.

I think your desktop notification is going to work on android to, as when I just refreshed the page , I got the new threme, and an android pop up asking me did I want to all notifications from this site.

Now because I know you I agreed, as I never do Usually. So youll need to do (whatever action ) something that would trigger a notification to be sent to me, and I’ll let you know if it works on android or not.

If you don’t get a reply from me I’m 15 mins will probably mean it never worked. But I’m interested to find out.

Well the idea was sleep, then another hour passed and I have to be up for about 8 , so as usual the body says no. Even though I’d like a nap. Not going to happen it seems.

What works fine? Chat? I never said it doesn’t work. I said it doesn’t work as a general work concept on mobile. As it has to take up 100% of really estate (give or take ).

Which is fine if you want to be I’m a chat only , and do nothing else, but you can’t you need to basically minimise it, (in a PC term) them say for example play you video , so you’ll can’t keep an eye on chat like you can on pc by just pinning it .

So it doesn’t work for me , as I would only check it every hour or so, meaning I wouldn’t be I’m the live chat, like I would be able to on a laptop/desktop . Hope that makes sense.

Old school chat in a browser just doesn’t work for mobile. Unless you want to keep the chat open and do nothing else. To get a chat ro that actually fits on to a mobile platform at this point you need the chat room to integrate with an app, the chat filers though iether the notification bar, or has a pop out floating box.

I’m not suggesting I want you to look into it, just trying to explain the drawbacks of a desttop HTML chat on mobile as an experience doesent translate over to mobile. It’s just design is an issue , or rather mobiles disign is the issue.

But tbh even dedicated chat apps are flawed , as there notifications get annoying of chat becomes busy.  I use to play a statery mobile game and I’m the end I used a second device for chat , to the one of was playing on . Ironically In that case an old school type would be fine, in tjar scenario . But then we have come full circle to have a device just running chat, and having to use a second to do the tasks you was doing. So that highlights how bad an experience of chat is on mobile.

I hope this makes sense.  I wasn’t referring it doesn’t work. More it isn’t mobile work flow friendly. For chat to work you need to be able to keep one eye on it, as far as im aware this isn’t available yet.

You can pop a window out Android , (OS version dependant, and decice make,or app dependant ) but then you need good eyes to see what’s being said , and I don’t think you can interact with the pop out untill you go back to full screen , so that also doesent work.

So tbh I think chat on mobile is a non stsrter, monolec ironically given its a communication device , is not good at the traditional chat rooms style.

Been doing paperwork, like with real paper! Good of a time as any I’m awake and the house silent.just how I like it.

Going to try and grab an hour now , still have Xmas cap to do at 9am! Women seem to get these idea at agree it things that their husband actually has to do! Pisses me right off.

I’m about peeved that Liverpool’s game isn’t till tomorrow, boxing day was a good chill day to watch the footy, actly wentv last, beat liecester 1-0, but this year it means a wasted day boxing day waiting for tomorrow. Suppose I’ll play with the kids.

Re chat. I haven’t yet. I’ll give it a try later on today , maybe when the footy is on. But as I do most of my browsing on mobile , chat boxes don’t work for me.

I don’t mean they don’t work, they do, but when your on mobile the chat takes up 100% of the realestate , so I you can’t just leave it in the top corner as you would on a PC, and continue doing your thing while keeping one eye on chat.

For mobile there are a good number of chat apps that I’ve had in the past for online gaming, that will work in the background and you’ll get chat in the notification area. Which is a great way for mobile chat to do it. But traditional chat doesn’t work for mobile usage.

I wasn’t meant to be drinking , but we do Xmas day round the in-laws every years and the FiL likes a tipple, and it’s the tradition the men go the pub 12-5 , while the women “cook” , we get back for about 17:30 eat too much , wash it down with a few brandies and sleep time.

I didn’t have that much to drink this year , I can tell by the (only)low level headache atm. but even just a couple of pints followed by food , not to mention etreem food, sends me into hibernation mode. Sadly not being the sleeping type, I’m awake for 1am .  About 4 and half to 5 hours later. Which has never changed.

It sucks not being a sleeper, as you know, as your rather tired and bored , or your body decides at 2pm on aftnoon , after 3 days of about 2 hours sleep, is now the time to want 8 hours. Then usally I’ll fight it, for my boast to decide ‘oh it’s now 10pm , I’m no longer tired, then change its mind at 6am, an hour before roll call!

Oh to be yoing, my 19 20 and 22 old are all sat in the lounge hammered, I’ll be sending them bed soon as they are getting quite loud.
