they wouldn’t get in, I’m going to hook the door up to  :yahoo:

Jokes aside, I’ve actually thought though about implementing an NFC activated lock. Thou I’d roll it out on my office door first.

This issue is. The majority of units that are out there are awfully insecure . There is a YouTube channel called BigClivedotcom iirc , he is a scottish bkoke that is a true electronic Wiz, and he tears everything apart and many NFC and Number pad locks have passed his desk , and not many he can’t by pass.

He may be a wizzard, but it takes him minutes to figure out the flaws, and he has a great knack of explaing them, and most are really simple. Alot for example have jumpers you just cross to put them into programming mode. And alot of then have the same factory preset master codes. And like most peoples routers they don’t change them. So it takes all of 30s for a burglar to look at your keypad, Google it’s model and get the master reset password, key it in and override your system.

Though we don’t even lock out door, so an insecure NFC box would be safer than our current set up.

I just love of the tinkering, when I get in the grove, it brings back the joys of what a PC brought 15 years ago. Now a PC to me is just a headache. It’s a shame that this winter was mild, and I was busy so I didn’t get hadly any gaming done, and zero aurdino action.

The previous winter me and my youngest lad, 13 then spend nights building our basic knowalge of aurdino , getinng LEDs , sevos and morors moving, thermometers reading and real-time clocks ticking . We was ment to out our nè still to the test, but never got around to it.

We’ll have to scrub up on the basics again, when we next pull out the breadnoards .

It’s amazing something as simple as a light bulb* has got the juices going again.

      * Granted it’s quite an elaborate light bulb. I can bloody  speak to it. Well I can speak to all lightbulbs, but this one , unlike my kids (and dogs), agually does as it’s told.

Im living in the future. “Ok Google , turn the attic lights  on/off” , “the attic lights are now on/off Stephen”

It was very simple to do. I’ve been at ifttt for a while, ATM I have an applet that reports me the weather at 7am each morning . But with this one of selected the wrong type of if, with out noticing so couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t do what I wanted. It was waiting for a variable.

Anyhow it just works, and it’s poilite, well maybe I programmed the polite bit in lol). Just looking at the yeelight API and you can go quite quite a bit with IFTTT . Definitely worth the money just as a training /playing aid.

If friggin cool. Seriously thinking of getting a Google home now. I’ll set this house up so complex the kids and wife will be walking round in the dark shouting “f-ing turn the lights on goooooggglllllleeee, what was wrong with a f-f-ing switch”  :yahoo:

O got a bayonet to screw adapter today from my local builders /electric suppliers it was 80pence. So not that big of a deal unless your the queen.

It works with Google assistant , I’ve just written a ‘recipe’ but it didn’t work !  So I’m now looking at YouTube videos on how Google assistant works with ifttt. Something to do with putting a dollar sign in the correct place. I’m sure I’ll get there in a min.

My kids being a phal and a jelfezzi every Saturday night with mushroom rice and garlic nahn. I love my curry and use to make qood curries a few times a week. I even mates my own ghee from seperating the non salted  butter from its fats. That is the secret to a good curry. Ghee.

Anyhow, all my teens starting with my eldest have worked at this fantastic, curry house in Llandudno called aisa . And when the owner cooks it’s like eating heaven. Doesn’t mater the heat , all the flavours and depths just come to life.

The down side to this was, my curries was great in a vacume , better than my locks houses, but way behind Aisa . Though I can always tell which cheif cooks as may new , lazy or incompatent cheifs , always burn their spices to early and that kills anylayers there may of been , and you just get a hot bitter burn, like eating raw black pepper, with no additional flavours. If you eat curry long enough you can tell who cooks what. It’s a great dish for honing for palette.

Also before xMAS my girl oickecup her wrong order, it was a veg curry, not espeally hot, but was the best curry ive ever tasted. We never found out it’s name. 🙁

Curry is the one. The hotter the better, as long as the cook is a pro. I hate a bitter hot flat Curry .

A couple of days ago I seen a review of the new pentium K and it can hit a rock solid  5ghz on air  very easily. So is a very nice CPU indeed.

The review was on LTT yt channel and they was matching it against a real quad core to see if you could game on 2 physical cores (with HT) as the current trend is you Need 4 Cores. The pentium K held its own very well.

@bartinili I’m not sure what level the gt8800 was, I recall having a 8900 when it was had for about 70, and it was still working on decent game at 800×400 every well.

For gta5 I can play mid settings across the board at 1080p at around 65fps (iirc) on my gtx970 .

You don’t need to be pushing for gta5 high settings as there is little between med and high, bit a big gulf between low and med.

If you have 4gb in A and say 8gb in B , your system would . It would only use 4Gb of a as 4gb of be in dual channel mode , and the remaing 4gb would be used as single channel.

Just put the biggest module you have in slot A then you would get the full 12 in dual channel.

I didn’t even know that was a thing tbh . But either way simgle dual or triple channel mode, doesn’t really have that much effect anyhow. You would have to be really pushing a rig hard, massive video editing etc for the channel type of the ram to ever be a limiting factor.

@rockonbazza I seen you was pointed to this thread and I know of a good video highlighting the diminishing returns on ram and where it hits a brick wall, I’m higher end software . It’s a bit old but I think little has changed on the 2 years.

The basic answer to your gaming related question is, the game recommended ram amount is all you’ll need.

Here the video as it’s not quite what you was asking for but it’s findings are interesting non the less.

All online. But you need to not listen to one source, especially with the big sites, as the will rarly say bad stuff against the big companies as they don’t wasn’t to be dis communicate.

Think apple and the fanatical apple bias on some of the site .They are terrified of being taken off the list. So year on year everything is fabulous darling .

I like to read a few reviews, ask her (Or was mm), and watch some YouTube videos of realword reviews.

Also Linus tech tips is a big YT channel but they offer impartial reviews, you can see this as the will praise one item and distroy another but the same OEM. If you ever watch there live show, they often talk about the inegraty of the channel is what OEMs actually like now. They are realising the old ways of paying for review with either money or emotional blackmail hurts their brand long term. I just wish more sites would realised this.

Lather good YouTube hardware show is TWICH as in this week in computer hardware , it out dates Twitch the service lol . It’s run on the TWIT network , with Ryan Shrout and Patric Norton .

@drezha that may be the simplist answer, and mark the doc as anyone can edit maybe .

Doubtful I’ll get to it tonight , had to have a rear tooth extraction , my new , it rather glacial speed growing wisdom, had out that much pressure on the tooth metro it it snapped one of the two roots off on Xmas Eve, it really didn’t hurt much, but today I went and had it removed. The tooth with the root attached was fine, but the snapped root the dentist really had to rummage around . Now they the novacaine has warn off, i feel like I’ve been clicked by a donkey  :negative:

Also have no ibrufen and no kids at home that can be served with them so I have to go out  and get my own :negative:  :negative:

you should of just edit the first post. I’ll copy and past that into it now. Tar, as I was just about to update it.

Still working on a way to embed a Google speed sheet for ease of use, but I think that may be a while off. So this way will have to suffice.

I’m sad, I managed to bork my G1, by factory resetting it yesterday . That’s jewel in my android collection. Also my M8 is a gonna too  :negative:
