I cancelled an eBay order yesterday , I contacted the seller and they was really poilite and thanked me for letting them know. Saving shipping back and forth. The actually refunded me my money (via PayPal) before the emailed me to thank me.

People make mistakes, just thank him for his honesty.

PM you may want to go into the yeelight app and disable Bluetooth sharing. I can’t see it’s use, and it helps with the battery drain of the app. Which isn’t great even with out it turned on, but better.

I knew it was good when the wife said, that’s staying in the bedroom, you best get yourself another. Though I never told her the price .

It took all of 10 mins for me to be impressed by it.

Did you get an alexa or dot when they was cheap? There is an option for that.

I tried using allo as assistant , as assistant is just allo at an OS level , but had no luck. I tried installing the Alexa app on my 6p and that seems to only be an companion app for an actual Alexa. On kindle fires you can use the app as an actual Alexa device.

I bet tasker could do it.

I feel bad now as I recommended it with the use of Google now, forgetting that not all phones have assistant. Sorry. Still the voice thing is more a gimmick on a phone, much easier I have a toggle widget .

I am imtested in a Google home unit. Also the new ras pi ‘google things ‘ project now is exiting me. Once I finish my loft (more than I can chew ) I’m going to get back in to making and want to make some voice controlled lights.

Ones That arw normal lights and can be used via the light switch. Set it up like you would a landing light , with two switch that independently control a single bulb, no mater the others state. So one would be the traditional switch, the other a relay controlled via a pi or audino. Also would be a good time to write an app

I just thought it may only work with device with Google assistant, which is the pixel and Google jome. Google now may not work. I’ll dig my 6p out and try it out.

The Trafford centre is a horrid day out . It’s expensive and full of shops! It does have great food and free parking iirc.

I don’t. Just install ifttt on your phone. Got to create an Applet , under ‘this ‘ select Google assistant ‘ (you’ll need to give permission) then select ‘simple phrase’ , then write the phrase you wish .

Then under ‘that’ choose yeeligjt app (sign in and give it permissions ) the chouse an out come. There is 3 options. I chose ‘toggle’ to start with.

All the above will make sense once you install the ifttt app. If you get stuck I’ll do some screen shots.

Me too, I use to use it alot with my revo atom/ion pc  . Just thought I’d let peeps know. I did think many here would already own it. It may of even been a free app (of the day) one time.

But if you don’t have it, it’s worth 10p, or 8p if your a Google music subscriber.

My area is cheap to buy (relivly ) as we are just that bit to far from the a55, all the villages between her and the main road to chester / Liverpool and man, all under a 40min run once on the a55 are more expensive . We are the end of the line so to speak. Also as there aren’t many jobs, mostly NHS or seasonal, it keeps prices down. We paid 86k for ours in 2005.

For a long time 500k was the sealing price for large finished houses with land. That has ridden about the last two years (but the markets are likley to change for the worts I’m the next 18 months). Most house have only just regained their 2008 price .

But there are still lots of 3 beds under 100k.

But go to the northwest towns , in the less desirable areas and you can pick bargains up, that you can rent to DSS and forget about. A lick of paint every few years. Make for great starter homes too.

Good luck, my wife, one of many of her ills is Oestioarthritis , her nan had it , but it took years for them to pin it down. Ever since she went on the chemo the arthritis has got worse.

Arthritis of any order isn’t good. My back issue (lower 4 ) has lead me to have hip issues. ATM it’s more an annoyance than anything but it’s been gradually getting more annoying as the years tick by. I know as my back plays up and effects my left leg, i counter balance the pain by putting more weight on the right leg which must be putting added wear in the hip.

I don’t mentally do it, bit I do tend to favour the right leg now because of my back .

The as strong as your weakest link has never been more relevant. But once you get a weak link, it causes a domino effect!

An arthritic issue will no doubt lead to a stomach one if you take to many anti inflammatories, so that is somewhere you need to keep an eye on.

I tried b&q and screwfix before I went the electrical supieres and they are cheap. It wasn’t untill I got home I realised I had 2 spare ones.

One live in the tourtouse cage (or under it) as the bulbs we use use Edison 27. And the connectors are roapy. If  you change out bulbs alot, reptile bulbs )Astra only 3 months. And the thin metal In the E27 socket can rip with fatigue . I also have another connector attached to a disco led bulb, that mimics a disco ball efect. Good for kids partys

So I didn’t have to go running around . But I do want to source some actual proper E27 sockets, as the connected adds length to an already above socket.

Today the wife installed the app on her phone and logged into my account (use Singapore server on set up. And not Hong Kong. HK apparently has lag and issues from time to time). All my settings just appeared on the wife’s phone and I set a simple one button toggle buttom to her home screen.

She said the bulb is staying in the bwdroom, and I need to buy myself another for the attic! I’ve never seen her be impressed with any of my geeky buys before.

I’d imagine the house in Manchester are cheaper. My brother in law has picked up a handful In st Helens town  (round the corner to manc land ) for between 30 and 40k , each they  cost around 15 to 20 to put right and Revalued  at aroumd 80k.  he sold a couple and rents a couple, which all }ay for for themselves.

I’d imagine some that type of area would be a great starting point. Don’t worry about the area, if you can get somewhere cheap enough , live in it a few years untill your on your feet then you can rent out at a profit, and get somewhere else.

If you need more money you could ever sell it at the new market prices or release the capital buy remortgaging at its new referbished price.

Put a 10k deposit down for a 40k house, but say 15k into it, then you revalue at say 80k , meaning you could remortgage and take 35k out the house. You’d be wise to not remorgage if you don’t have to , and just rent it out as a 30k mortgage is cheap, and youll still get £600 a month in rent to cover it’s cost. And let the house tick over untill you retire.

You’d be better off in Liverpool, they talk funny in Manchester  :negative:

They would be great if you often get charged with turning lights on off while they are away. Just set a scedual and forget it.

The only issue I see with them is not with the actual device ,but with human behaviour. I’d have them all over the house, but the kids and wife, would forever be walking out of a room and instinctively turning the light of the traditional way cutting power to the bulb. Which would get old fast .

If you could convince your mum to just turn the bulb on and off with her phone, you’ll be fine. But unless you change all the bulbs, second nature would kick in every time, and she would eventually get fed up with it.

Once the bulb is set up, you can’t then turn it on via the switch , as the bulbs relay is incontrol. But I read last night, you can over ride the inner really , powering off 2s then on 2s or something similar that does a factory reset of sorts, which lets it be controlled by the physical switch again.

I’d imagine this is a flaw, as I’d say my kids walked in a room, they would click the switch, then back and too out of habit and that would reset the bulb, meaning I would need to set it again.

This is why I’m only deploying them in my spaces around the house.

What is great about the RGB bulb, with never crossed my mind, (I though RGB was over kill), is you can set the colour to exactly what you want, and have as many colour profiles as you wish. So last night we had the light on later than usual but a dims right orange colour, the Tim’s morning set it to come on with the alarm, running their preprogrammed ‘sunrise’ , which started red and very slowly got bright. It was great in the old eyes while sipping coffee.

Also it goes all the way up to ice white, so good for kitchens ,bathrooms (which we have ice white ) and we have an ice white I’m the lounge as the wife like to read under that colour, even though traditionally ice while is to cold for a lounge.

With bulb would be perfect of a lounge, as you can have reading mode, and relaxing mode. Sadly the bulbs are to large for my current lounge set up.  :negative:

I just cancelled my order, as I decided I’d rather have the bulbs on one app, so I can play with groupings etc. So there will be no review of the yeelight BT version .

Though being a xiaomi product, I have little doubt it would be good.

Also judging by how fast the eBay seller got back to me, and refunded my payment, I have no doubt he is above board. I couldn’t cancel the purchase the offial way, it said I was too late, so I used contact seller and explained idcoreded the wrong one. Within ten mins I had a refund notice of PayPal followed by an email off the seller. Thanking me for letting him know .

So feel bad now I never bought it.

The grouping of the wi-fi bulbs will have to wait till next month , as I can’t really justify another £22 on lights bulb, especally as I don’t really have a use for a second. A tenner is easier to swallow, £22 not so much.  But I think I’ll collect a had full of these over the next few months.

You are correct , I missed that. It is the yeelight blue app that is needed, so it is a diffent bulb but I don’t think a clone as the companion app that kes it work is made by xiaomi .

I’ll report back when it arrives. And let you now the diffences in funtions. And if I think the wi-fi one is worth the £12 premium. I’ll also edit the post above.

I scheduled  the bulb to come on in sun rise mode at 6.30 as the alarm when off, and I’m so impressed with this product , it took about 30 mins for it to adjust from a dark orange to my desired colour. It was really good to be not be blinded first thing in the morning.

Have just taken a punt on a second bulb from eBay at £9.99 Inc postage.

Edit- this bulb is the Bluetooth version not the full wi-fi version. A review and comparison will be incoming when it turns up.
