What I forgot to mention bob is the site has been gifted to the two local towns and they, through donations and free man hours are stripping all the 20 years of Forrest back and trying to save it. The great thing about frwance is because of its size and low population they don’t need to desert stuff and build over it so they abandon it, and eventually save and restore.

The north is full of military history dating back 150 years and castles like I’ve never seen, and I live in Wales, in great order.

One more infesting fact about the wolfs lair II, is it commandant (in going to butcher his name) shpidle [Sh-pie-dal] iirc , after the war, he was given command back of the sight and ran if for nato.

The tour guide was saying he had a great book, and that is where the majority of the facts about the palace came from. 6 years has passed so I may be butchering the name. But I’m going to look it up now. I know the place had a website. I just need to fined it. Or it do have a basic community built pre 2011 sits back then. I’ll update the link if I find it.

I think between me an the fil we but €im the kitty and bought some community made programs . God know where they are

Well done Dr Chris, as Dave says , now the real thinking has to begin.

If your on the same money it’s definitely going to move you up the property ladder. Non of sissy southern house prices up the North.

As nice as money is, it’s not everything, but it hardly sound like your loving your current job. I know you started this with a change of career in mind, but maybe just a change in location is all you need. A fresh start, with a boss that doesn’t overlook you, as to me that sounds like a job , or rather boss, that isn’t going to take you far.

Think of all the lovely northen greenery you can cycle. Pennines, Snowdonia and the lakes, all on your doorstep.

I would look outside of Manchester for a home. Greater manchester is not like London. Christ Liverpool Manchester is only 36miles apart for prerpective. I’m not recommending Liverpool either. But there are some nice villages and towns , the smaller rows is where your money will stretch.

Try and find a town or village that is just the oppersite side of the upandoming houses that are close to whatever the main rd to Manchester is.

Basically pinpoint your work HQ, figure out the main or secondary road into the place and trace it out , town by town, village by village.  Youll soon find a drop off I’m price. If it’s close enough to a more expensive town that will likely rise in the next few years. If your willing to but work in, and not be in the best of area. Sun 50k is attainable , your never going to loose cash on a place like that. And she your ready to move the mortgage will be that cheap you can just rent it, and keep it for a retirement asset. That’s how I’d sell a “not so great starting point” to the wife.

20mins outside man, your money will go 3x if not more.

Talking of wife, is she onboard with a northern life, does she like rain and more to the point are you both ready so say hello to strangers. We do it alot up north. London underground is the most miserable place ever. I think you get arrested for making eye contact.

My larger dog (hardly big mind) doesn’t like a create or to be in confined spaces, my small bitch. Love a crate, table , chair and confined space.

I think cos she is being small tiny thing legs, nothing to her when clipped, (boy dog is all muscle when clipped ) , I think she feels safe being protected by a small space. Especially as the house can be hectic with kids .

The guy can always be found halfway up the stairs asleep, the girl will be under the kitchen table, if not with on my lap, (she is there now) , or on the girsls top bunk. She is a needy little ugly thing.

Turning into a dog bore, but here is a couple of pics, they are 6week apart in age. The final 2 pics is the week he had his knackers off. He doesn’t look happy.

                Wow these threads meander –

Your wartime school come prison come hospital reminded me of holiday in 2011 in northern France.

We was staying on a fabulous family holiday camp an hour from Paris, close to Soissons, first cjoisom I’m 2006 for its proximity to disny on the way further south. But it was that good we returned year on year, beautiful region lots of history from nepolionic era, ww1 and 2.

One day on a notice board as a small hand written note on fence, that said call for a tour of Hitler’s bunker, so as you do , I called some shady number and carted my lad and father-in-law to some co ordinates about 20 mins away. Lovely Hamlet, with a shot up church tower with 360° arch’s of fire, and a small entrance to a bunkwr so was underwhelmed thinking that was it.

O was I wrong, the guy turned up, and we followed him a good 15mins through a village and out the other side into a wooded valley , and down a deserted track, to a no entry gate with radiation signs on and landmark warning. (Look to kid and say make sure your seatbelt is off) , anyway what appears was like a small town build of concrete. It was Hitler’s number 2 bunker, the wiring there was so extensive French telecom room it over after the war , it could reach Evey front line from Russia to africa, and it was a maze of overgrown half cleared buildings, a aren’t only 10% was overground and reachable. It’s nw was wolfs lair 2, and was ment to oversee operation sealion,

Hitler never visited it, Rommal did once . It also had a huge private railway leading to it and a tunnel with bomb doors and accessories the complex, now a main line minus bomb doors.

There’s are two villages either side of it just a few miles away, but the pace was a secret untill the mid 2000s

After the war, because it’s infosructure nato took it over as HQ ,untill about 1960s iirc, when a prober nuclear retrofit would be to expensive and the French commandos took resedents, the urban warfare complex was till there and cease intresring to compare to our own.

Also at the back of the complex was a house for Hitler that Eva Braun (spelt wrong) stayed in, and a pool for her . Which I had to get into (no water)

I’ll searxh through my photos and see if I can pinpoint it’s location, but it’s doubtful as I used my Sony bridge, with no GPS. I’m sure I can Google foo it up. I’ll post some pics later.

Super cool place if you like to need outcome old war stuff. Also got some good pics of one of the nepolionic fob’s that house huge canons that protected the whole region .

                *Apparently Holder used it once

                https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfsschlucht_II

                Sorry my pics suck

                https://goo.gl/photos/DGwwuu938sWkSifg8

Pit “wolfsschlucth II” into Google maps you’ll find it’s location, a great region to visit.

Sorry your correct, I got it arse end round. It always was GS then it changed for the war years then back to GS afterwards , wonder if it was a EEC membership stipulation lol.

I grew up in the 90s calling them alllies, and still refere to them as such, and get pulled up every time by my local dog trainer and food supplier.

I don’t know how I mixed it up above. Just ignore me. Lol

John they was called German shepherds up until Ww2 then their names was changed,(probably took to the 70s to fully catch on),  bit like great grandads name, he wasn’t an dog though , well he was if you believe the storys. He was a royal navy officer, of German birth, and had all the navel traits apparently, as did his sons.

Alsatian is now the propper name again. GS is just a hangover. That’s why I didn’t get the reference of GSD.

Why not just use Windows disk manager, hit clean disk, then tick all the boxes then press go.

I bet it will clean out a good ⅓ of the disk

Yes bob I don’t like the old school appoch, the File say you need to give shit a two IP the rear that’ll teach him. I’ve definitely felt like it , but preserved with the way you outlined.

It eventually sank in with him. But tbh I think his iq isnt the highest around, and shiztu are known to be a stubborn dog, with a mind of their own. So alot of repation is needed .

I could of probably beat it into him in a quarter of the time, but I’d rather be respected me than fear me.

I have my pissed off voice down to a tee. With  20 years with a women and 5 children , it just comes naturally!

ATM my girl is 8, so the voice is brought out by 08:00 each morning then not long after she gets in from school, then again once her and my 15 year get together soon after 16:00h . And anytime my 3 oldest, now adults, are in a room for more than 5 mins , my voice is used often then

As a child, my day was old school, and straight to fear is the answer, punch , kick then ask what I’d done. The worst work)d in the word was mum says “that’s it, enough chances, wait till I tell your dad” that was enough for me to fall in line.

I said to my wife, that would never be me. But must admit to just 2 times I come to blows with our eldest, (the one now at uni), and on both occasions was him seeking domanance and being drunk , first at  17, I just put him in a stress potion untill he calmed, the second he was 18, and drink, but in)icky for him I was a bit worse for wars to, and I payed him out, after he hit me 3 or 4 times.

He hit me 2or3 times and o had hold of him and said one more time I’m going to really hot you, I slowly let go and he landed on on the top of my head. So… He learnt a lesson that you don’t mess with  overwieft ex marines.

His mother went mental with me and so how it was all my fault. Tho to be honest, I’d done wonders for our relationship, in the father son thing, there from 14 or 15 they just stop talking to you, it wasn’t long after when we start getting along again.

He broke he kills on my head to that night …. Another lesson leared I hope. It to me more than one head to work out it’s a bad idea. I have, or rather don’t have the knuckles to prove it :negative:

Between my misshapen knuckel, numourous large scares (on my right) and my nail nighting, when meeting new clients ,or old interviews, I’ll all was attempt to hide them. They had a rough 10 years from 15 onwards.

I don’t know he choose to marry her afterall

bet he would of opted for a 9mm given the chance on that plane. Not sure if on himself or her.

I thought the attendant was overly nice saying we will get you on the next fight, I’d of grounded the cow.

The democratic party has produced this sector of people, “be understanding and tollerant to all”, but really it means ‘be understanding and tollerant to them asking as they already agree with you ,If you don’t agree with them you are the one not beimg tollerant. There is never a discussion , you are outed as hurtng their feelings with your [incert whatever IST) views.

My TT box -as never been plugged in in my house but been inservice over two years at the inlaws with no issue. They do have TT but not the TV service, but I may of used my credentials to set it up, I’m not sure.

If we had an aria In our house I’d defo use it, apart from being slow, and the re boot can be measured in cups of coffee , it’s actually a great easyto use box, well designed for a total non techie. I was impressed with it on install. And to it’s credit they use it every day, and I’ve not have one ‘help’ phone call about it. High praise indeed. But like when they was running mint, 2 years I never heard off them. Now they have windows it’s every 3rd week. :negative:

A shiztu is a great chioce as the are by nature a loving breed, they don’t malt, (so no added hovering ) , they don’t really play with toys, so don’t have a habit of chewing woodwork and paper, and the big one, they don’t need walking, so when the weather is bed you can miss a day or so. My boy gets restless about day 4 or 5.

Also I never had to teach mine on or off a lead. When on the walk behind me, when off, the run about 50m ahead and behind.

There one issue is the a difficult to house train, my boy must of been hitting two when he stopped daily pooping on the door mat. The oppersite door to which he goes out.

But a year on the accessed are few and far between and only if been left in a long time. So I don’t shout at him for that, as he is always sheepish , so I know he knows it’s wrong. What does still annoy me is it’s behind the front doors so more than once I’ve stepped in and slid in it!

It’s at that point doth dogs spit in different directions and my young girl says what you swearing at dad!

If you have a 6p or 5x and not rooted  wouldn’t bother , I reckon it will get assistant soon enough.

I was once in the camp that if you wasn’t rooting and romming there is something wrong with you, as stock (all Rims and skins )was lacking and by rooting you was opening up lots of pros.

That time has past , rooting now breaks more than it fixes. My last rooted phone was the M8, bit even then there was alot of negatives to turning ‘s-off’ and rooting.

It’s not worth the hassle. If it’s for tertiary device go have a play, but if it’s your primary or secondary don’t bother.

That work around ed was found before the pixel even launched. It may of been the day of ,it was piblisised.

I don’t think there is anyone better than Netflix as keeping your steam going on a shoestring, C5 drops out at a blink and I have stupid fast internet. But C5 and ITV still have issues, pre my fast internet, Netflix could wonder on at under a meg , you’d get quality degradation but hay it’s better than nothing.

You are correct on all the platforms Netflix looks great, I just think on the cc it always just looks that bit better. Non are bad given enough bandwidth.

Shawdow play is actually quite good, it lacks support for many games but the ones it does support wout well. Though you still need a virtual sound splitter to capture extra ch of sound coming in.

Skype and your mic. For this you can use voice meter, great free programmed. Lets you nap only capture mimtiple incoming streams, but also lets you manage them on the fly for if you gaming and broadcasting live.

Shadow paly is a simple solution but OBS is better far superior, and free, but my kids prefer Dxrory, which I think was £15 . We decided on Dxrory as the quality was good and with the right codex we could get for file sizes down to a more manageable level.

There are many video capture software solutions ,  and they are all great on the right hardware. What works on mine won’t work you and vice versa. PC are finicky by nature!

Shadow play is good to keep running ontop of your primary setup, have it set to minus 30s , and bind it to a key you never use, usexit to grab moments. That way you don’t have to make notes of time stamps to remember when ‘that thing happend’ .

Get your kid to learn blender to mix and render his videos, my kid learnt sony vagus at school and has a licence for that. However vagus is expensive. So he best get saving up of post school.

We had 3 German shepherds growing up one was huge and hated people, he was mistreated before we got him at about 20 months old. Such a loyal and protective dog. Loved other dogs.

My other two loved people and thought they was people, but hated other dogs. All great dogs, the sad thing is cos I I got them when I was small, by the the the I was 18 they was all gone. ?

I always thought small dogs was a stupid and worthless idea, of the dog couldn’t protect the home , what’s the point. How wrong I was, I now have 2 of probaly the gayest dogs you could own, (especially when groomed ), but they are a fantastic breed, they love kid, and other dog, they are so laid back you would thing they was dead half the time , and they don’t mind being man handled by kids. Infact they really take to kids as that is what they was origanlly breed for.

To sleep on rich kids beds and alert guards to strange noises. They was a child friendly intruder alarm . The Tibetan mastiff , (what an animal ) was bread to parol the outside keep intruders bear and wolves away.

In Tibetan the name of a shiztu is lion dog. As when there hair grows out the have a slender back end and grow a mane. They look cool @nd more manly, at that stage, then they turn onto ewokes. If we wasn’t so lazy with the combing that’s how I’d keep them, but it takes to much bushing. The big one would let you,but the small girl is a right scruff and doesn’t like the brush.

I just remembered my profile pick is my male dog I’m ewoke mode at 8 months old. Just after a face and bum trim.
