Very rare I call a landline for personal use. My nan (dead just over 3 years) was the last person I’d regularly call on a land line.

We still have a few phone line, but it’s been many years since a phones been attached.

We got a fair share of cold calls, but the main reason we stopped using it, was everyone had mobiles, and I have a Skype number, I was sick of getting huge phone bills, at the time we had 4 teens in the house! So one day the phone got binned.

Far cheaper for the kids to call mobiles off a mobile (free) than off a landlines which is about 40p a min or was at the time. 4+ years ago. Maybe more thinking about it.

The call I mentioned above could of been 6+ years back. Time seems to blend into one long smudge

All clear on the Northern Welsh coast cpt.

Although Wunderground.com reports currently 4km/h, it predict 15-30km/h and rain. So we may have rain and gales at some point.

On my experience they never have your name, they usually start off with is that Mr Jones or Davis, (the hit hate is huge with that in Wales), I’m from Ms support. I’d reply with no, think your have the wrong number, then they would say, I’m from my and there is some dodgy behaviour coming from your ip…. And go into there pitch. One day I was sat there and just had fun.

So they need they never had my name or details, they was just fishing  for hits playing the phone number lottery.

I had fun for agood 45 mins with one of theses bozos about 4 years back, I just acted simple and slow. I was bored and gather my fun would stop them attempting to rip someome else off.

I’d say it was coincidence. But rule of thumb never give details to anyone thst calls you. Politely say, ok I find ha an issue with xyz I’ll call you to mark your you are who you say you are. Put the phone down and look up the number for who they say they are.

Then youll either get though to someone that knows of your issue, or a very confusesed rep on the other end.

I never admit to being be me if somecalls I don’t know. When they say os this xxx, I also was say no but I can leave him a msg.

Thanks Chris, I’ll give you a shout if anything crops up.

Count the raf thing as a near miss and than God that instead your going to be a Northerner ?

Jk aside my friends lad (18) just got sent home early for PRMC, it’s a week down a CTCRM (Lympstone) you have to pass before your excepted, a week long interview. Well it was 6 day when I don’t it I think it’s a little shorter now. Anyhow.

He torn his ligaments in his knee, (not for the first time) and he is a bit cut up atm. He gets a mother chance at it, but I the chances of passing for second attempt are alot slimmer than your first.

Though one lad got though who entered with me that couldn’t do a press up! We suspected he brother done his PRC (as it was called then).

Good look with you nothing up north.

The black box is hit of miss, as my daughter works untill late at weekends, she would have to opt for the night one (after 11pm) and the saving on going with out the box is only £100, £1300 against £1400, so paying monthly, it’s hardy noticeable.

And the fines witj them blaxnkxes are harsh, I know a girl that has a heavy foot and light brain, that gets aroumd in £60 a month in fines of the inc for breaking rules.

I’m sure it all depends on location, circumstances,  location, age, sex, and so on, so there is never a 3rd party right answer for you. You just need to spend a night going through the yellow pages. The bad old way.

He is currently at uni, we’ll completed 2 years and was fed a load of sh*t to do a placement  year by the Royal Hospital in Liverpool, he isnt happy. The corse he was never thrilled with, the placement had turned out not to his liking and he is collecting debt like the treasury.

so today he had his first interview with the Raf, so I’ve been in Wrexham all day, he past his first round tests, to prove he isn’t a potato.

So now he needs to get a few papers together, (new gcse papers as old one saw shredded by mother!) college and somthing form uni, and attend the formal interview.

He is hoping to join doing the same(ish) thing as on the outside but as an officer, then move up to the roll that he is in the process of getting the NHS to fund on the outside. But even with funding for minor surgery, he will still need to find rents and sustenance money, so another job on top will be needed. His first two years of uni he was doing uni, compulsory voluntery work! And working two crappy jobs.

He realised he can get to the same point in life, and have the raf fund it, his food and board and give him a wage. With a proper work balance life.

It’s the only time ever (and I mean ever), that he said he should of listened to me. I had him and his younger brother at the Wrexham recruitment office 4 years ago, when he was debt free, telling him the way to go was via the services.

He thought uni sounded a better option.  at that point didn’t understand debt, and how much life costs.

There still is a possibility of him going down the NHS funded route, but I hope he doesn’t.

Did you know an raf medical officer (MD)  can stay in service untill 65 or 70, and join up until the age of 54. And the money is alot! £40k while in training and £70 on qualification then rises with your NHS peers. Not bad.

                      Dan that explains alot.

I knew about the change of photo rule, but still your licence is good untill 70 normally.

My original photo card said until 70th, now the photo card has a 10 year life, the licence is untill 70.

I moaned on mm about the £20 tax to change the picture. The charge should be e ough to cover the salmon fee and postage. £3-5 would be a e palatable. £20 isn’t, and I bet it’s gone up since I last done mine.

The paper counterpart is now dead too, so mine will always have the 3 points on it forever!

They actually snuck that ten year update in, I only found out about it, through watch dog. I was about 2 months away from expiration. All my in laws was out of date! Non had any idea.

I used a really old version of Clonezilla from about 03, and never upgraded and it never failed me. I read it didn’t support 8, which ever bothered me as I never went 8, but I didn’t bother to find a 10 solution before I installed it.

I’ll find a solution when the time next arises.

What is a lapsed licence?  I’ve never heard of such thing. My licence says it’s good until my 70th birthday iirc.

I am in your boat re sys restore, I gave up on it I’m the xp days. But by all accounts it’s works perfectly with 8 and 10. I don’t know if mine is even enabled, and I didn’t make any clones of my 10 machines, so I’m in the a night of pain when the time arrives.

When I next do a fresh install, I will activate sys restore, and figure out how to clone 10.  when I went to 10 there was no common way to clone it, but I think that is now sorted.

I like cloning, but will try sys restore before going nuclear.

@jayceedee sadly not, but it hasn’t happened since. It just stopped! I think I know who it was though. But what can you do.

I bought a dash cam for my car, I always wanted one, so not a wasts of cash, it actually gave me a reason to get one  :good: fed if off a large 15k mwh battery pack, as it needs a live ignition to run, so needed an alternative power source. I repoirposed an old 64gb sd card.

I set it up every bin night for about 6 weeks, but all I picked up was local wildlife, and the bin men the next day.

If it starts again, I’ll be ready! I did by a camera module and ir detecror for my pi, only cheap, but never got round to implement it, as it was the time my wife went in hospital, and she was in For a total of 7 weeks over a 9 week period. So between work, kids school, feeding them and two trips to the hospital to deliver secret KFC care packages, I just didnt have the time, or energy it put it together.

But it won’t go to waste either, itz nor on my electronic kit box. Waiting for the right project.

My car is fixed, I parked it on my hill, which is quite steep, gave the throttle a good ASBO inducing threshing and a tiny stone shot out and hit my eldest girl in the shin. :good:

I didn’t read the article but remeber the media storm at the time. She is an idiot and deserves what she gets

However JV didn’t help himself, and could of got out the way on a number of occasions but preferred to antagonise the woman. So I think he should have his bike crushed too.

Before the you lot jump on me for hating bikes, I don’t mind them, as long as they are being sensible.  most are, we get alot around mine, but you get a few fools, just like in walk, there are two in the video above for example.

Both as bad as each other. I also like JV, but he is no bike role model.

But that women is mental, and it shows. I’m sure at some point, we have all needed to move a car from a-b and not been fully ligit to drive it, would it occur to you, no matter how entagansed you got, to kick off in a non ligit motor! It’s all about blending in.

In Thr 90s I drove around in an escort van for a year, while “practicing” for my test, took my test in that van, and the instructor asked me did I know I was ment to be accompanied by a qualified driver.

I just acted daft.  I find acting daft, and polite can get you out of the most sticky situations. I got pulled once for driving my rover 420sli, I asked the guy why he pulled me, and his reply was, “criminals driver rovers, I get a good return on them” , internally I thought that has to be profiling, but instead of being a dick, I just had a laugh with the policeman about it. Which worked out well as I knew I had an illegaly balding tire.  but then at uni I couldn’t afford a new one untill the next week, so when he noticed the tire, we was already on good terms, I admitted I knew it was low and was going to get it done, and he let me off, with a “get is sorted asap”.

When you see these police camera action shows, the perp is always a compleat mental case that has no control of body or mind, and a come at dick to the officer, just like this women.

as a young marine I learnt early, when caught doing somthing,  whatever it is, be respectful, as being a dick can only work against you. No one ever got put in a better mood be being called a **”* =*#(# – =#+&,…….

Yes I had that with my oldest when he hit 17 tho tbh it actually made our relationship better, after the sulky years.  I spoke about it last week or so, can’t recall I’d on her or mm. But I ended up in the dog house!

His younger brother (by 18 months), and and the more ‘harder’, witnessed that night actions, and he never bother to repeate his brothers actions.

Tell you want if they wanted to actually wrestle with me, especially now they are 23 and 21, with my back I wouldn’t last long. But we’ll keep that to ourselves ?

Attic or kitchen, and my boiler sits inside a standard wall cupboard. So it’s almost invisible and easily assessable. Right next to the back door was more to drain and serves the system.

I cut the top and bottom out of the carcas, I used a standard wall 800mm jobbie, as that’s what fit the gap between the wall and chimney, i used 2 400 doors, but when you open them the boiler takes up about a third, so I put a “centre” side in 2/3 along, (so not centre) and shelved out the remains 1/3. It worked a treat. So if you do end up going the  kitchen route , try getting a narrower boiler that will fit within a wall cupboard. Though we have 10 double wall units so using half of one up wasn’t an issue, if you kitchen is Small the kitchen may not be the best place.

I know that they have to be on an external wall (obviously) and now they also need to run to an exterior drain. You used to just be able to let the overflow/valve thingy (don’t think that’s the technical term) drain into the ground. But not no more.
