I think it’s a router issue, as I get the same message box when I connect to my hootoo or a hotel wifi. So I’m not sure what option has been turned on on my router.

I may roll the firmware update back I got around the time this began.

Probably because the companies probably know exactly what backdoor they have open to cia, and have no intention of fixing it.

Nothing surprises me when it comes to this type of stuff.

John, they are dangeous that is the issue, if you have to spend effort looking for cameras when you could be connecting on your driving. Average speed cameras are the worst, as if you dont have cruise control you spend the whole section of motorway looking at your daily instead of the road.

I’ve only ever had 6 points, in my 20 year stint. On was zero untill about 5 years ago. I got done by a mobile van that for some time device to take root at the bottom of the hill at the entrance to our village, almost impossible to do 30 with out really consenting on your speed, instead of the traffic. It got almost the whole village don’t about 35, mine was 34mph! Just there to make money.

Id not long clean off my first 3 points and In October 16, at 1am picking my girl up from work I went through a red light. It’s not something I do, it’s very dangerous, and I even knew that set, out side Rhyl police station is camera’d up.

So it was a totally accident and I don’t know how I managed. I first asked for proof as I didn’t recall any flash etc, but knew I was there around the time. The photo arrived and the lights had been on red for 40 seconds. Agreed to the fine and points £150 and 3 points!

Though what did worry me was its not a fixed penalty, they took me to court, total waist of alls time, considering I filled out the forms to say it was me and I accepted responsibility.

So I’ve again had a got 3 points. But these days if found 3 points hasn’t effected my Inc it’s still below the £300 mark, where its been for the last 15 years. Always around 280 no matter what I drive, 3 points or not. There may be a jump if I add another 3. But no plans for that.

It’s not surprising at all. Also if they have it, GCHQ the Chinese, Russians, Germans, Koreans and every other agency out there worth their worth will have it.

Ive said in the past as a brit, it’s the brit government that scares me the most, only because they could actually use whatever data against me. Non of the others can. If I was American if fear the CIA (in this case), especially in their case given they have no jurisdiction in the US.

I’d have to assume in the CIAs case it’s the politicians and heads of industry whey like to keep tabs on, never know when they may need to control some upstanding member of the community, by leveraging that legal but slightly weird porn they like to watch etc.

The more power governments and their agencies get, the more I find my self agreeing with the rural Americans that don’t want government intervention. The “red necks”  may of had a point all these years.

I used the Tom Tom speed camera app, across Europe and was amazed at its accuracy.

It’s a nice feature that you can overlay data on to google maps, (or silly app you wish), as I found Google maps + TomTom just brilliant.

Also liked that it asked for feedback about every camera position, so you could hit ‘not there’ if the od rouge one popped up.

I didnt notice battery drain, as I have leads in the car at all times. If you open my centre console, it looks like the Spaghetti monster is actually a thing.

I just realised it’s the 32rd you go, Mario run is released on android that day, so at least the wife won’t be board on the trip  :good:

85 is fine on a motorway, as your speedo will be off by 10-15% unless you  have on larger wheels than factory fitted , your likely only doing 77, a camera will get you, but a passing police car won’t bother. Over 80 and your pushing it, at90 will be a telling off and a fine, 100 is suppose to land you with a total ban, and potentially prison, but more and more I’m hearing people get a slap on the wrists for it.

Our motoway  speed should be upped inline with the EU, 81mph is a far better speed limit, most modern cars will cruise at a 100 all day long, and stop in about half the distance that a 70mph car would in the 60s. So I can’t see the problem with 81(130kph). Along with modern abs systems it’s harder to make a car go out of control than it is to not go out of control. At that point you shouldn’t own a licence and be anywhere near a car.

In the EU you just donrvget the 1/2 and 1/2 drivers we get here, the 60mph people and the 90mph people that all want the centre lane! Every one goes 85mph,the ones that don’t have great lane discipline.

One thing that confuses me is people that don’t like motorways drive so slow in the inside lane. The inside lane it the hardest of the 3,as not only do you have to watch the lane to your right, bit have to watch out for on ramps. Now if they just drive at 90 in the 3rd lane, all you have to do it keep an eye out to your rear. And at 90 not alot approaches you and you don’t catch up with many,

So I say it’s safer to do 90 In the 3rd lane than 50 in the 1st Lane.

I not a rash driver, I alter my style according to the weather and the conditions but I’m an inpatient one. I hate it when your about to over take and some one pulls out, especially when you have been watching them for 30 seconds as you approch. Some people just dont anticipate. If I’m on the middle lane and I want to over take some one, but can see there is a car coming in the right lane, I’ll ether wait it out, or blast bast the car in front, as I don’t want to make the guy on the right have to alter his speed. When it happens to me it angers me, if I known with anticipation they could of avoided it.

                Another of my character flaws.

I also don’t like people flashing lights behind me. I’d never do it, it’s rude, (I only flash to peeps without lights on), and when some one doest it to me, I purposely find joy in messing with the person for a good whole.

Unless they have an exotic car, not much can overtake me, so I’ll take joy in slowing them up, and pulling away when they go to over/under take.

The when it’s done just smile and wave as they are F-ing and blinding and giving me the birdie.

It’s the little things on life. Another character flaw.

Though I don’t think my next car will be quick, so I may have to retire that game.

A real kindle, the paper white, is the rolls royce, a Tablet is no substitute.

If you read alot, its a no brainer. There are others but I think the Amazon ones are worth the extra for tech limited folk or though that just want a simple seamless experience.

If I had one I may go a different route, bit the wife who has no intrest of learning tech, it’s a kindle all day. The paper white is with the extra, so you can sleep in peace while they read. It’s amazing how little light they give off.

Maybe unlink one of kindles, and created a Amazon dot com account, via a vpn. Then log into the kindle via the new account  address.

Worth a try, but messy.   your likely to fall short when trying to buy with a UK CC/DC, you’ll probably need to buy 20 usd amazon vouchers via Amazon UK, then add the voucher to the US account.

Doesn’t look like you can buy USD cards off amazon UK, so you would need to try your luck on ebay. You’ll probably be ripped off. But tbh if the New kindle ever touched the Internet with out a vpn, Amazon would likely take a fit.

They don’t like you messing about like that. I once had an Audible dot Com account, from thr pre Amazon days, when amazon bought Audible they clamped down on the US accounts.

In their credit they contacted me and all the book I “illegally” purchases, from before Amazon ownership they added them to my new UK Audible account, as a show of goodwill.

                    So approach  with caution.

That was the original Barcode scanner, one or the first apps in the market place back in the 1.1 days.

That would if been on my origanal android software list on mm.

They all will require quite a few permissions, as they need to to work. It’s needs camera, web, and file system at the very least. The down side of android showing you what permission is wanted, is that it scares people, historically on ios you want informed, so what you didn’t know, couldn’t freak you out. But most of the time, when you think why do they need these permissions there is usually good reasons for it. But if your a technophobe, you’d never think of the reasons, so they get freaked out.

Some devs take the pee, with permissions, and you’ll see they get called out in the comments and will have a low rating. I use a simple method of picking somthing with high download figures and a good rating. You can’t go wrong really.

I couldn’t recommend one over the other. I don’t keep one on my phone. Just dead the top one when needed then take it off. Probably need on a few time a year max.

I see most contain adds now, about 6 down, in the search one called “QR code scanner” doesnt have adds. But I wouldn’t be put off but adds, as your in and out the app in seconds.

Yahoo is in terrible shape I don’t think it’s long for this world. Marrisa Mayer was probably their best shot, and that didn’t work.

The trouble with Yahoo is it doesn’t know what to focus on. It’s got so many poor products. It’s only good one is Flickr, and I doubt it makes a penny. More likely costs millions a year.

Atm they want to o be a media and new outlet, at a time when news doesn’t pay, and alot of others have got media nailed down.

By for the best trick is to check  the traffic for the few days prior to leave (around the time you leave) on your sat nav. That will give you an idea of how heavy yer traffic is at that time.

Waze maps actually has a great feature, stick in a destination, but hit ‘travel later’ or ‘plan journey’ a tab to that effect. And a graph opens telling you the average amount of traffic on the trip on an hour by hour basis.

Also if traffic peaks, waze will alert you to leave earlier. Just like Google now does,if you have a destination in your calendar appointments.

Google drive games with a few 15g space. Your pictures if below 16gb wouldn’t eat into the space, if they are you have the choice to save in full res, with will work against for free allowance, or for google to scale them down to 16mp (they do a great job),and they are free.

With music, you have I thin 25,000 tracks free, then your music will start eating into your free allowance.

So it’s quite hard these days to bust through your cap, I did years ago when it wasn’t all these free options. Though once you fill up your 15gb, it’s £1.99 a month for 100gb.

I also save my photos to Flickr, it’s great, not quite as strait forward as Google photos, but very powerful and you get free unlimited full res. Though given the state of Yahoo, I’d first use Google then Flickr as a secondary back up. Ive been using then over 10 years, but for the past few I have trouble trusting Flickrs longevity.

First of all Lee your search is brilliant. Well bloody done.

Secondary – I persevered with West world, watch 4 while away last week, and the rest will away this. Episode 5 and 6, was OK. It starts way to slow, and the ending I didn’t like.

This one definitely  wasn’t for me. Which is strange as it as all the things I usually go for.

We know, but once uploaded, the music then becomes yours. Or at the least, you end up with a decent mp3, not the rubbish you ripped in 01 or the terrible download you waited 40minutes to download back then.

Talking about illegally getting music, my lad, has access to multiple legal route, I even paid for play music as mentioned above, I’ve paid for Spotify in the past, but he still rips his music from YouTube! Apparently all the kids do it. I just don’t see the point today, especially as he has 7gb of data a month. He’ll rip the mp3 off youtube on his phone, then manage it himself.

I suppose at least he is learning something! Gotta look for the silver lining.

Once you upload them to Google music, you get the he rights back. One of the is best as you eats of Google music (and others) is that you can usually upload some terribly ripped (or even illegitimate) music and you get lovely ligit 320kbps tracks back.

Ive uploaded all my music, not a great deal as I’m not a music fan, I like the Beatles, Queen and  oasis, my music affair ended mid teens, and if I feel like music that’s all I turn to.

Though with the advent of the net and download sites of the early 2000s I did end up with a lot of music, my kids added to that, so it all ended up on Google’s drive. No one ever listens to any of it.

The kids use Spotify free now, even though I have paid for Google music a few time, I found theyd rather use Spotify, so that saves Mr £15pm for the family sub I was playing. And I use Google music to stream my short play list that is made up of albums I bought as a teen.

Never really got the appeal of music. Seems a waist of time. Rather listen to a book while driving than music.

The main issue with these covert services is if they go rouge, which the NSA did, the director lied to a senate committee months before Snowden leaked what he did about prism, is if all the bosses are actively g illegally, to fulfill their own agendas, there is nobody that a true patriot can report to.

So they have to take the issue public. Now if prism was legally sanctioned by Congress then Snowden has to suck it up and get on with his job. As he knew it was illegal, he was right to bring  it to the public.

Alot of good has come from what he did, encryption is now almost right across the board for instance now.
