Did you see the LTT video? Intresting, and will only get faster, and larger.

LTT have a video testing it out and they seem to think it works well. It took boot and load times down by about 60-70%

Though tbh boot times are hardly an issue today. But they modules seem very cheap for the added performance.

If u had the newer chip set that supports it, I’d probably get one, just because.

Their video was about 4 days ago, make it easier for you to search out

I always use self check outs as I hate small talk. I’d let a robot cut my hair if I could.

Though how you define a robot, and police such a tax penalty would be hard. I can’t see it ever happening. But it is a good dissuador if you tax automation highly.

However can you see the industry lobbiests letting it happen? I can’t.

Yep my i7 920 is just remarkable, I put a gtx 970 in it about 2 years ago, but thought a cpu overhaul would be needed, but alas the old girl just keeps trucking at 3.8GHz. I could never get a stable 4GHz on air out of it. Also the i5 750 is just as good and I gan get a solid 4.2 out of that.

Intel made a somthing really special with the first gen ‘core i’ chips.

That RX480 is a great card, so much performance for the money. I bought one, never installed it and returned it when it eventually turned up as the courier really took the pee, and i between that shipping and arriving I bought the gtx 970. So had to return it, as I have her The 480 was £260 and the 970 £300, so one had to go back before the wife seen the almost £600 gaming hole in the bank account.

I’ll be sad the day the i7 dies. Though in city building games it does show its age as they grow large.

I think PM still has a 920 too.

This is strange as my post in the Google home forum when posted ended up here too. I noticed right away and copied it over and deleted this entry. Must of been a bug at the time rather than hand user error. Which is what I put it down to at the time.

Blaenau is an ugly place, Portmadoc just down the road is pretty. Not the greatest fans of the English down that way.

Bangor is about the cut off point or English sympathisers lol

I can’t see it happening here anytime soon, there will be a right wing internal looking revolution long before any outwards looking coming together us even thought of.

Singerporians (if that’s their title) are some of the most racist, and bad manured  people I’ve come across. Also their car tax laws are crazy. In may cases are the value of the car.

I know they are very limited on space, but this to me smacks of keeping the poor off the roads and on public transport where they belong.

Also they can be a reset for being seen naked  though a window which I find bizarre

They have alot right, plus alot wrong. Just like the majority of us.

I quite the concept of communism setup, with me as Leader  :good:

If I didn’t have the pixel, that has an assistant, I’d be much eager to get a home device, but give I’m mainly interested for geeky testing purposes, i can can do all that stuff via the phone.

Wifi is ment to be  good, it’s expensive and limited and super easy to administer. But I don’t think even I’m fully comfy with the google router. A but too noisy for my liking.

Google home, like the Amazon echo has so much potential, I do think I’ll be getting one of them. But will be waiting for a sub £100 deal.

That the million dollar question JC, we can see the issue, fixing it is another issue. One that isn’t going to get easier, as pop grows, jobs shrink, and lifespan lengthens.

The only real solution is a global communist type set up. It’s not a reality, but would work. A sort of Star Trek approach, where people work to fulfill rolls not for pay.

The capatalist nature means there has to be losers, wether on a micro level, have an underclass, or on a macro level having continues full of sweat shops. Also as no contry want to be “bottom forever” it creates tension and war.

I don’t agree on the globalist ‘capatalist’ agenda, but think that would of been a better stepping stone to a more socialist based set up eventually. By fragmenting nations, we are taking a step backwards.

Looking inwards could be beneficial short term, but ultimately the earths leading families (the 1% of the 1%) needs to come together , strike deals with each other, and stop the economic and military wars between nations.

And religion needs to F-off quick too, other wise no one is working together on anything.

That picture of the hydro tunnel (top pic) on that wiki page is taken from the top of the small castle tower that allegedly held Llewellyn the Great, the last (Welsh) Price of wales, apparently he was betrayed by his brother to the English.

Also in that water is an evolution of Arctic Char, that can only be found there, demonisation even though way inland it was once connected  to the sea.

Also the seam of slate that the quarry was built on travels all the way to canada.

If anyone is ever in Llanberis, there is a great climbers cafe called Petes Eats, great place and cheap. They have open map rooms above, outlining all the cloning and walking routes.

It also where you can get the ridiculously priced Snowden express.

Back to the hydro tunnel mentioned  above, and il pictured on the wiki, each Xmas they have a grotto deep inside, and a small narrow gage train takes you down to see Santa.

Llanberis is a nice day out all round. The slate museum is free to,and is an afternoons entertainment in itself.

Talking of reperposed  mines local to the area they have converted a network in to an underground play area for kids with huge cavernous drops under the course and trampolines. It’s impressive. Also a couple of ex Marines in the next valley have set up the longest zip line in the uk (maybe world) which has grown into a decent business too.

I like finding geeky solutions to niche ‘issues’, as its these small steps that lead to places that we could not of been foreseen.

I see loads of geeky stuff, and although most pass me by, some I like and adopt early, some of them fizzle out, some end up mainstream years later.

I like to keep an open mind, these “silly” looking projects, even the fallers often have benifits.

                                  Lessons learned and all that.

The majority believed a home computer stupid once. Same TV, the mobile and the smartphone. I’m sure the car was laughed at once, especially as in the early days it offered nothing a house and cart do at a fraction of the cost.

I’m still all in on face recognition glasses that pop up a little ID contact info of people as I meet them. Not cos I’m noisy, mainly because I just forget names, like really really badly. It’s probably a marker for the dementia that runs on the male side of the family, I’m sure. So the quicker the recognition smart glass (or contacts) appear the better.

Dam Google and them scrapping the project! Lol

Regards the pension age for young folk, i understand it sucks, but the pension was never designed to keep people in pay and or on benefits for 15 to 25 years.

When it come in I think the average male age was 67/8, so you’d be looked after for a hand full of years before you shuffled off.

Life span is lengthening as an ever increasing length in 50 years the average age may be 100,and the retirement may well be moved 90.

The issue is, the pension age should of been moved forward 20 years ago, and now should be on its second shift forward.

Now for all us normal folk individually  this isn’t a good thing, but a fair thing. Above, and in other forums, it’s been discussed, it’s harder than ever for kids to get and keep work, asset building is not wast it was 30 years ago and  private pensions are a joke. We now have about (or about to) have more pensions than workers.

At this moment in time many are private pensions that minutely take some burden off the system, but going forward, this isn’t going to be so, (things may change), so as we get older and older, and jobs get fewer and fewer, so things had to break.

Well the system was always broken, socialist capitalism mix has it limits, personally for the AI job filled future a stronger socialist approach is needed, I cant see it happening, because of shortsighted, politics, and business. But capitalism is not the answer to the jobless utopian future companies think we should be striving for. Mainly as they want the profit, and to be the rollers of the next cycle, where corps run the world not goes.

Non of this looks like it is going to help 1.the oap, 2 the working man, 1 kids. So we are all screwed.

We are going to be carved up into the have and have nots, in a worse way than we had it in medieval times eventually. Well become more like the USA and its current slave labour force of today. More slaves today than there ever was under slavery.

If your head unit has a USB input, it should have enough power to run the dongle. If not you’ll need a 12v to usb out. Like the one below.

you don’t actually need one of this caliber, any cheap one will do. (try the pound shop). I have this one as it’s very powerful and will ram power into my phone. It’s a very good one and is flush fitting, with dual USB outputs so you can power the BT dongle and charge your phone /sat nav/etc.

                                          Edit forgot the link lol.

That it has worked twice muddies it a bit. But I’ll guarantee you the dongle above will fix your issue.

You car will just give off two BT signals, your phone will see them like it does multiple  wifi signals. Just set your phone to auto connect to the new dongle BT signal. And tell it to “forget” the old head unit BT signal. Then when you get in your car it will just connect,if you have your BT always on. I have an nfc tag on my in phone mount that launches maps and turns BT on https://goo.gl/photos/CfQ6GfB6CgC5LYav8

Good thing about the dongle, is you can move it from car to car easily, unlike head units, so this dongle could last you a decade. Admittedly it isn’t as “clean” a solution as a new head unit, but it’s much quicker a job and can be taken with you on your next car.
