Youtube can do that. I think it’s one hell of a great resource of entertainment and knowledge.

It’s grown on to one the most useful repositories on the Internet. Once you get past the crappy cat videos etc.

My 9 year old daughter almost exclusively watches yt, from learning shows, akin to play school, to actually following, very closely and getting really invested, some of the YouTube vloggers. Gamers and vloggers will be the new “rock stars” for her generation. It and they are huge now, and at this point it’s a kind of  nieche medium, that few older people, including my age  don’t yet understand it,  or what’s happening there. It is huge.

I monitor what she watches,   and have the filters turned on. Some times some stuff does creap through, but even then youtubes stiff is quite clean, nothing worst than after 9pm on TV.

She also lover all the wildlife stiff on yt, she has a fascination of which animals eat what. She likes to know the order of where we stand in the getting Eaten pecking order.

She so has got to the age where religious stuff is now confusing her (F-ing school and teaching religion, keep to facts!), as it (religion) doesn’t line up to the facts of life around her. And when I she found out about multiple religious and gods, she started to question me more about it.

The issue is, kids of her age  take the teachers word as gospel (intended), so she when It turns out its doesn’t look true, she finds it hard to process it. It’s Interesting to just listen to her thought process.

That took a tangent, just like going down the YouTube rabbit hole.

The point wasn’t to start a debate weather we started out in Eastern  EU or africa (though very Interesting ed),  for this case, wherever we are from we are all from there, so the point still stands.

Atm ed, I’ll go with the dna. But I’ll look into the bone theory, as it does intrest me alot.

What does it matter who was here first? We are all now basically  mongrels, of 1000s of years of invasion and occupation.

It’s said we all come from some African tribe originally,  so deep down we are all the same. We have just been manipulate into not trusting our neighbours.

Artificial boarders are just a political way of keeping people afraid of what’s over the “fence”.  keeping the ruling class in a job. We should knock the fences down, have the freedom of movement, and the freedom for whoever to trade with whomever. Have freedom!

            Nice dream anyhow.

Ed China has now left the show bob. Discovery took over and Ed didn’t like the direction so he walked. Mike has stayed.

Ed had a yt channel now, and atm he is bouncing ideas of his subscribers. He also talked alot about the show spit.

The mobile version is fantastic  Lee. You can stop now ?

With regards to the BBC rss, it’s wasted on the phone as it renders so low down it’s never seen. I didn’t know it was even here until I read it was, then went looking for it.

That doesn’t mean move it to the top. I like it where it is ?

I thought the air had shot up to about £1300? With their net book being their cheapest offering at around a grand.

So I’m quite surprised at them prices. I’d still get the Dell xps13 though.

But if you like osx then the Air would win on them prices. I dont have enough experience  with osx to have an opinion whether i like it or not, other than its reminds me of Mint, when ever I’m on my lads.

Btw ape is slowly invading my house. We now have 2 imacs and an Air, plus the God dam ipad 2 that refuses to die. It’s going to outlive me that thing.

I think tata is one of the largest companies on the planet, iirc, so I’m sure they will sort it. Also they are meant to treat their staff very well indeed. One of the few multinationals that still hold staff happiness highly.

I seen a doc on them once, I’m sure the guy that started it all, was a cotton grower or fabric maker about 100+ years back

It was years ago I seen it, (probably 10+) I’d never heard of them before that. They now own a bit (alot) of everything worry wide.

My sister in law just got an lenovo yoga from work, (teacher), and it’s very nice indeed. They have come on a lot since my son had one for 4 hours and returned it. But so has the price probably.

Dell xps 13, is what I’d buy still if I needed a real portable  laptop. It’s just stunning and brilliant. But not cheap at around £800 for the entry one. Which would be fine for almost anyone.

Lenovo thinkpad graphite is good to.

My list is all expensive, but as you mentioned apple is your fall back, probably all the above are about 50 to 30% cheaper.

Then again with apples brexit tax, they are probably £1k cheaper lol

We have a few board games. My favourite of all time is Hotel. I like monopoly too, I hate Risk, it’s just 3 hours of chance!

Ive never been into the geeky side of tabletop games. But they are making a huge comeback. They ain’t cheap though. All the dungeons and dragons kids, are now  30 somethings, and there is a big market of adult (clean)  adventure table top games.

Pm talking of mini engine swaps, Mighty car mods (show) , not long back stuck a older Honda civic type R (iirc 180bhp)in his. It was a lot of work, bulkhead, drive train, 5 speed gear box.

There work was spot on, from the out side it just looks like on old (but mint) Cooper S.

The done suspension and a round disks too.

I do love the idea of this, but a mini is not a car I’d like to crash in with all that power.

Talking of the new MINI my sister in law has one, 09 Cooper S. I don’t see how they are so popular. They are terrible on motorway, no designed for that, around town their handling is far to heavy, it’s like driving a huge heavy car, BUT on the country lanes, it swings to life, and is one of the most fun car I’ve problem driven. But off the lanes, its not a good car. Also they are so expensive to buy, and really cheap inside. Not a fan. Except for the country lane dash ?

Our local car show was in town yesterday, I didn’t attend this year, usually do, but forgot about it, untill I tried to nip tesco, and couldn’t find a space to park anywhere, on or off tesco. So done without.

Just stay away from amazon market place full stop. I’d much rather take my chance on ebay, with a seller with long history.

Amazon market place is full of people that sell crap to unsuspecting people that don’t realise Amazon Market place, isn’t Amazon, it’s a free for all.

Ed, with these cheap fans, i aired on the side of caution and use a 1amp (or 1.1 iirc), just cos In my head I thought using the higher amperage usb on them may lead to issues.

Only speculation on my part, but I’d think the fan motor would take all the juice you could through at it.  it’s probably built with 500ma In mind, so I avoided on of my newer phone chargers.

Though John, that usb plug seems expensive. As it is only a pound shop plug. Find it on eBay for about £2, or grab one next time your in the high street. Use a laptop/pc/ playstation/tv etc for the time being to power it.

Or one of your phone/tablet chargers.

Ed, the home theater geek on twit, is alway saying that 8k is going to be leapfroged and we’ll end up going 4 straight to 16k

Personally I don’t care that much, a pet from sport, Im over chasing res, blue ray is more than good enough for me, for Syfi films. Most of the time 720 is more than good enough for daily consumption crap.

I seen a BBC short about two/three years ago, where they broadcast from BBC to a single location in Japan,  or the like, in 16k as prof of concept. It was a huge undertaking at the time. Taking up massive amounts of bandwidth.

Netflix 4k won’t even be offered to you as an option unless you have a 25meg line. I think hd they need to see 5 meg. The exponential growth of the file sizes is fast. As you know (obviously).

Edit- my bad, my “couple of years ago” seems to of been 7 years ago, and it was 8k they tested. Where does the time go.

I never know which emoji means what. Except for happy and sad. Also given each platform has different emojis, one thst you choose on your end that looks acceptable, can come across completely different on the recipients device.

Also to make my personal emoji life even more hell android in Android O has changed from their signature “squashed” emoji set, to a some horrid, probably more standard,  set of emoticons. They are ugly.

I have a USB fan, similar to that jb and I run it off a plug. Well on my case a charging hub, but it’s extensively the same as a plug.

It’s been a god send this week. We have a large opening window in the bedroom, I sit the fab on the window sill and create ghetto air con.

Not to worry, as the pound crashes, more call centres will return. Then we can take responsibility for our own breaches.

I don’t see what the surprise is that BA out source customer services. After all it isn’t a charity, and the air game is ruthless, run on fine margins.
