Try dropping the @gmail.com out of the username bit. You don’t usually need it in the Google sign in box.

If that doesn’t work in out ad I’ve not use TB for over 10 years.

Also contacting Google is hard. If you have a Google phone on a newish os, there is menu that auto connects you to a real person on the other end. Other than that. I’d have no idea how to contact a Google employee. It’d mostly made up of bots.

Lol I’m related to Freddie Starr, or rather our Les as my nan calls him. Her cousin.

Seen him at a few funerals when I was young. Thats about it.

I have some good tales about him and his family though. But not I’m willing to put up in public and get sued over.

That is if he is still alive.

Yep the second gen ocz ss drives killed the company,

I still have some 3rd gen ocz drives, 60gb jobs that again was fine, are fine. I stuck with ocz as the vertex gen 1 worked for me. Loads on here (mm) said I was mad given how v2 worked out. But the 3rd was good, but their name was mud by then.

I now have no brand loyalty, and by the cheapest, or biggest for my budget, they all seem fine. I have a Critical one, (forum a licence for true image yesterday, as I was chucking the box, after probably 2 years), also have at least one Kingston ssd.

If your not after the greatest speed possible, any of the entry level drives are faster than the i could notice, or need.

Cheers Bob, I just couldn’t be bothered reading back. The steps are all the same, ever since 1.1, they just move around a bit.

The screen shots was from android “O” I think will be 8.0, once released. Along way for 1.1.  which didn’t even have an official desert codename. Though internally it was Bender, and in Futerama robot. 1.0 was never released, that was called Astro.

1.1 was updated to 1.5 cupcake very quickly (about 2 months) the 1.6 doughnut about 2 months later. It wasn’t until 1.6 I knew I’d not backed the wrong horse. As the wife iPhone 3g (version 2) was looking quite attractive. After 1.6 the os has been ahead of ios. It was rougher, but far more capable.

I’m not sure what phone you opted for. The apps that you can’t install, you can disable in the main and round settings menu.

Settings / app & you notifications / app info / then select app. Each phone is sightly different, but the route should be similar.

                The hit disable.

To help you narrow down what apps are draining your battery. Check the battery monitor

Main settings / battery / monitor /apps (something like that)

                Hope this helps.

I was in the correct ball park. I know in the that 90s Royal Marine entry was 28, army was about 32. But soon after the RM went up as some one forced their hand. I can’t recall the details.

I was referring more to standard army intake, as that is what most NS would be.

Raf doctors I think is 59 years old, and can stay to 70. But you need to be a doc first. My lad who is in uni has applied for both Raf and Navy, as well as uni for his second course. But uni is last on his wish list. Both the Raf and navy, do the follow up MD course. So will save him about £40k in debts and he will be paid from day one. And not need another job.

He really struggled to study, work and err party while at uni. The costs today are stupid. Dad did tell him to side step uni and let the services pay all his education, 6 years ago. It’s a rare occasion a child said, you was right. Buy my god it’s satisfying. It’s like they think we know nothing, and have never done anything.

I flunked the Wales one too, beating the Spanish (which I should know) and how many on a Scottish jury.

Saying all that, I’ve said before, I don’t really “feel” English / British / whatever. I’ve never been a patriotic person. May sound strange as I was in the forces, but even then, I was never bothered. Maybe if we was fighting a force line Nazi Germany, etc I may feel a bit more British, but still.

The older i get the more I dislike artifical restrictions pit on us in the name of “freedom”. Which is BS, boarders are all about the oppersite of freedom, control.

Is there actually an official uk test forigners  have to take? If so I’d rather it be on basic laws and rules. And be more of a seminar.

I was just pondering the thought if foreign integration while I was typing the above. We moan that all the differnt communities are segregated from one another, and this is where tensions start.

I’m all for national service, love the idea, one that bring the youth of all these communities together. Let then get to know each other, but also any one seeking asalym under 34 (I think that’s the entry  age limit now) should have to do national service with everyone else.

                    Instant integration.

The quicker we can integrate communities the better. As a kid I and all the way through through service, I’d of probably been labeled as homophobic. I’d never met any one of that persuasion , or at least spent time with any. Then I went uni, and still to this day some of my best friends are gay.

One of them,  said the nice thing ever to me on day in a pub. Students pubs are a little strange, men/women, men /men, women/women, and I was just sat there watching, my friend turned to me and said I’m the least gay looking person ever. I liked that, but I think he was having ago at my dress sense.

Yes ed, but Richards problem was that he doesn’t use the phone, but he notices that it uses over a gb of wifi data, (not cellular).

My concern is if he doesn’t use the phone, he probably has few apps, I doubt he has social media apps, they don’t come pre installed on moto phones (or didn’t). So there should be little that is polling for data. 1gb seems alot.

Don’t get me started on carrier tricks, and how can the likes of Facebook get away with having auto playing video adds as the default! How did it get past the EU (they are usually on top of stuff like this). As if your on pay & go, and don’t have “bundles”  data is expensive. Even if you do have bundles, them adds must take up a good amount.

Tip of the iceberg. I’m amazed so few complaints about this. I guess most don’t report it.

This won’t stop the scam, it’s too lucrative. And we can’t touch anyone in India, or rather it would be extremely difficult.

They probably all do the ms scam as a side job. Probably work for BA, sky  (or name your favourite company), and on their brakes or stay late do the ‘ms’ thing.

The software is all simple enough, the hardest part is getting numbers, which is also simple enough, as is finding gullible peeps to scare. Once you have you skip learnt, it’s an easy way to earn some good money. Even a couple of hundred pounds a week, is a good boost to an Indians life.

Nothing against Indians. I just plucked them out to symbolise the situation.

I had one call me once I acted like a total dimwit and had him on the phone for an hour. He wasnt happy when I got bored and told him I knew. His grasp of English foul language was quite impressive.

Sorry I thought I was being civil. Google BT implantation was very good, untill about two years ago, as they fixed some issues it created more. I now have a pixel and run the latest Android ‘O’ beta, it’s super stable, a little slower than the previous rom, but the BT is a bit broken, they fixed the original pixel issue of ‘short distance’ break ups, but no it seems on some app, the sound just gets corrupted.

Ive logged feedback to Google, but understand that’s what beta testing is about.

My 6p is also running ‘O’ and doesn’t have any of the BT issues!

Like I said earlier my moto g (gen 1)had compatability issues, even tho, I’m sure BT 4.1 (not zero like I said previously) should be backwards compatable. So I’m not sure it’s a Google thing (even though Google oven moto then), but rather an issue on how the oems implement it. As most phones will be fine.

Samsung was always the ones that fu*ked about with android, noting worked, but even they now have a solid os (if Ugly).

I was joking about it listening to you and reporting back. But given you say you don’t use it, but it used over a gb a month of data/wifi, I’d look into it, somthing is leaking data of some kind.

Do you have Facebook installed? As if left to it’s own devices, it will poll for data every 15 mins, as will twitter and many apps. You can disable the apps you can’t un install, and the nes you want, you can turn the polling right down to once an hour, or only when you are launched, I only have email on full.

This will not only save data, but will probably add an hour or more to your battery life.

I’d do a factory reset on the phone and start a fresh. It’s only a 5 min job, and carful go through the apps you don’t want active. Luckily the Moto G phones have little in the way of bloat apps. Iirc you only get a couple of useful moto ones. Buy a htc or a Samsung and its like buying a pc 10 years ago. 10s of the usless apps, in Samsungs case probably  20+ as they like to offer an alternative “samsung” app to every stock android app and more. I re all the days when a Samsungs flag ship would come with 16gb and only have 4gb left for use. (going off topic)

All my hating on BT, I use it for around 18 hours a day, and it’s rare it messes up, but I’ve learnt what apps corrupt it.

I blame me, for wishing the Scott’s would vote to leave. Just to see what mess would follow.

Ok Richard. But why do you feel the need to jump in on every mobile related thread, and try and belittle the people the use and make the devise. When you just admitted, It just isn’t intend for you?

We get you don’t like having a computer on you, but I think you are in the tiniest of minorities, world wild. Or at least in the 1st world. And in up and coming  countries, mobile Internet is how they see, trade and interact with the outside world. How farmers and children can learn and work.

I’m sure you can fix  for your BT issue, I use my device as an in car handsfree daily, with out issue. Except when phones updated to bt4.0, my old car wouldn’t support it, so I went 12 months, with out aprox 2013/14) But that is neither the car, or the newer phones fault. But rather time. Old car new phone. Funny enough it was the original moto G that was my first phone to have bt4.0 all phones for now.

I’m not sure on your age of car, or rather age of in car BT phone connection, but if it’s running the older bt3.0. That may be the issue. Thou, my issue was it 4.0 just would hand shake properly with the older revision.

As with your emails, you would need to divert any mail.  But it doesn’t matter, you clearly like the way you have things set up.

I don’t know what you mean about your movements being reported back etc. But I can guarantee, at least your network supplier (ee Orange etc) will have records of the phones movements, your Nokia to,though your moto will be more specific, and with your new one Google is defo keeping tabs on you. Unless you have turned it off. It’s a great feature.

You can’t turn off your carrier logging your movements. You probably can’t stop Google either. Rather you just turn off your own access to see the data Google have. So I’d leave it on, and at leave it at home when you doing the bank robberies.

My father in law, can’t do tech, and decent dumb phones are now getting do hard to find. He has had a terrible job finding a good simple phone. He must of had 10+ over the last two year. All failing, in rather ear volume, ringer volume, test on screen size, or button size. I just place an order for the “new” fake nokia 3310, I think that may be dumb enough, for him, but actually be a good phone.

No! As it wouldn’t help. Wouldn’t  store any f-ing data either.

Sorry but the joke is far to old now.

Also i dont come on the forum or hardly any sites from my pc’s. PC is for two things,  one is work, the other is gaming (different pc’s). At most I’ve been here twice on my PC (Lee’s logs would back that up). So a keyboard swap wouldn’t help. Though I do love my current keyboards.

Also in informal settings, when I publish in under say 20 mins, I don’t even see my mistakes, no matter how many times I read I what written.  I’m sure I’ve mentioned this more than a handful if times.

Sorry to sound off, but  it’s been a long day, and the jokes old. I’m sure you can understand  this and it will be the end of it now.

The Moto 4g play os a very decent device. About on par, maybe a little better than bobs swift, he loves so much.

So I’d say it’s probably user error, rather than dumb software engineers

If you haven’t got many apps installed Richard, which you shouldn’t as you don’t use it, it should use anywhere near 1gb in monthly updates

A major os update will take 1+ gb but that is once a year, and the monthly security patches are usually 35mb. (give or take). I’d look very closely to what that phone is doing. It may know you don’t like it and is sending all your ambiant data back to its creators in  China.

We have 3 moto g4, the one above that you have Richard , and one below what daves daughter  has, there is about £40 between the 3 devices, all are decent devices.

Your Bluetooth /speaker issue can be fixed in the main settings, it asks you if you want the BT mic to over rule the loud speaker, or somthing to that effect

As I only use BT buds these days I set it all to yes. I’m yet to have an issue. The issue I do get, is my ear buds will be connected, as I set them to auto conect. But don’t have my Earphones in, so I say hello with the hone to my ear, before realising I need to toggle the earpiece setting, to override BT. You can do the same for speaker to. The quick  buttons are on the call screen.

Fantastic what these coders think of. Maybe your first reaction  shouldn’t be to jump straight  to belittling people when you can’t operate something, or have no intention of learning to do so. It’s not the other persons fault your ignorance of the product, and lack of will to learn it.

Most of the times, you moan about your phones, the answers are simple. A hell of a lot more simple than say windows, and you learnt early versions of that. Probably even earlier computing crap too.

Much easier to get your emails on a phone or tablet, even if it just to triage them. Also in this day and age, if you deal in emails, you need to have instant access to it, as it is used today like a sms service, between business, more and more.

Loved the first one on the ps1. Never played any of the others, but from the he ads of the latest, this one looked scary and decent.

The first one scared the sh*t of me. I was in the marines then too. but playing that in the dark, especially when you could hear rounds being shout from outside the windows (1990s surround sound), gave added depth. That and metal gear is solid. Couldn’t wait for mgs2 on the PS2, what a let down, completed it the day I got it. Iirc 8hours. The first took weeks.

Shame you didn’t like it. I have a back log of probably 30 games, maybe more, I’ll wait till their his one is cheap and gab it then.

Dave, Given that xp is now a running joke, even within the wider population. Post the NHS mess, anything ran by xp is just a cheap headline. Especially if that system fires Nukes. Lol.

I’m sure it’s very secure, and greater minds than most, will be watching it closely.

I must find the story I read a few years ago, on how the US almost Nuked itself on day. I’m sure there is a 100 more we just don’t know about. Iirc it was human error, not software  to related. The human is always the weakest link.

This isn’t your normal xp install, iirc it’s built on 2000 also. We swapped over to this system in the mid 2000s it controls our whole navel and nuclear fleets plus trident.

I doubt it is an off the shelf disk, but still xp!

I have an ocz vertex 1 30gb that is 9 years old. It spent 5 getting win 7 fresh installed every 6 weeks or so. And the last 2 years to 18 months as a game capture device, which gets filled and erased evey couple of days. So  its had a heard life. And it’s still going. (touch wood.)
