I successfully bought nothing. Didn’t even launch the app yesterday. I’d of defo grabbed a couple of the smart plugs if I’d if seen then. As you can never have to many. I have issues lol.
This thead has appeared at the strangest of times. 20 years ago today, in a out 4 more hours, I was boarding the train for my first in the RM.
I can only recall the date as it was also my late grandads b’day. Spooky Google just informed me it is (o and I would be) his b’day. I’m terrible with dates so they are all recurring in my Callander forever. I won’t ever delete any of my h and deads dates. It’s nice to look back for at least 10 mins each year.
HMF and tech all in one. With a few memories chucked in. ??
We have the echo puck (for lack of a better term) in the lounge. My eldest lad bought it, they had it in their room for a while, then got fed up with it, so it ended up in the lounge.
The wife loved it, which I found strange as she isn’t techy, but soon got over it. She unplugged it as the tv kept activating it.
I sort of like them, I use the Google home quite a bit, and the echo could do the same things I use home for. I am impressed (and scared) with how good the mic is on it. Thr puck lives quite a way from the tv. It’s voice recognition is good, but not quite as good as Google home.
I like the idea of having a few of these (either echo or home) dotted around the place, and can see them being very useful IF you can find a need for them. For the people that don’t have a need, they will just see it as a fun gimmick then it will gather dust.
My 9yo loves it, it can understand her 10x (or more) better than Google or Siri, so I think it’s natural regonition engine may be better, than the Compition, and Google is only better for me, ad I’ve learnt how it likes to be spoken to.
I have a number of smart plugs and bulbs I use home for. I can see these type of things being good paired with smart plugs for pensioners, even though they would never want one. But every old person I know, seems to want to turn every plug off before bed. Bit most old folk struggle to get behind tvs etc so a smart plug would be the answer.
Though you can get simple remote smart (dumb) plugs with a simple remote. That could do what I said much cheaper. I can see them becoming more useful the more “smart” a house gets.
Though now, if you want to do anything more than ask them questions, you need to be a bit geeky leaning, as you have to mess with recipes etc to get things talking to each other. Most folk wouldn’t know where to start. And even when they do work, time to time they loose each other, and resets etc are needed. The average Joe, just wouldn’t put up with that. Only early adopters.
I have an issue ed, the £1.49 flaming wraps. Really nice. It doesn’t help that the KFC is next to the hospital.
The funny thing is, I don’t like chicken. I think it’s the most boring of meats. It’s the potato of meats. Lol. But I do love the flaming wrap(s).
Also they are so easy to eat one handed. Perfect travel food. I could never tackle a big mac one handed. I also love big macs, but a maccies is rarely on my route.
When the Mrs spends time in hospital, she makes it my duty to bring her a kfc each night. As the hospital food isn’t just small or horrible, but they never bring her a dairy free option. Her last stay lasted 4 weeks, not once did they remember. she wouldn’t complain. I would of, they have a duty to provide you with sustenance.
So I’d bring her a KFC and I’d eat her crappy dinner, after eating a wrap on the way of course. Like I said, I have an issue.
Kids eat alot of chicken in the house, as does the wife, but I usually pass. Rather have a nice bit of decent ham and/or cheese, when they have chicken.
Now that it’s summer it’s nasty rabbit food, with meat. Nice, simple and fast.
Anyone tasted the Warburtons seeded loaf. Its very nice indeed. For one day, it dies in under 24h.
The killer app/need is the key. I never ‘got’ the VR thing. Not as a consumer item, professional space yes consumer no. Very much like smart watches, outside of fitness, I can’t see the point. And the market seems to agree, the smart watch world has been quiet for a while.
One of the bigger AR companies closed it doors to last week, can’t recall its name, they was on twit about two years ago with a polished working unit, but with closed source and high costs, it never took off as a product.
I can’t see oculus shutting down, I think Facebook own them, but I can see them eventually closing the consumer side down. Medical and space industry would be a fit, to mature the product.
That is unless that killer feature turns up. Then I’ll be first in line.
Bob there is no excuse for a landlord to not abide by the minimum requirements. Given its an association, they must employ professionals. Seems really strange.
Unless the last referb was done prior to the 2000s regs change.
I fitted my own shower when I was I moved the walls around upstairs, in the mid 2000s, I put the isolator (red) switch outside above the light switch. I had the room above as I put the light switch low down, (hip hight), mainly cos we had young kids, but now I think that fits in with disability regs. Though they wouldn’t be able to reach the shower isolator.
The shower took out, a type had the 20amp (iirc) wire, isolated with a pull cord in the bathroom, which was normal back then, and they ran the wire down the inside of the wall,on top of the tiles from the ceiling into the shower, and the cold water supply also surface mounted running upwards in to the bottom of the shower.
It now all exits out the room, straight behind the shower. Though in 20 years, this practice will no doubt be frownd upon too.
Sorry for the triple post, but the discounts look worth it, so I think I’ll be hunting out my papers.
The site itself, is it a cash back site to? I’ve never used any cash back “thing” before. But when I clicked ‘my account’ I noticed it said once you have a balance of £7.50 you can withdraw. So I’ll be liking into that.
Funny enough I created a ‘top cash back account’ about 2 months ago, but never used it.
But this looks better than the TCB. At least having a discount card I’d use it. I’d Make my £5 in the first two weeks, on KFC trips.
Well I got in to sits and accepted with my Id SN, but if I want the card I need to verify with some sort of Id upload. Copy of Pension /benifit / discharge papers etc.
Is it worth it? I think I’ll look into it, but will still need a trip to the attic.
It just come back to me. One I stopped trying to remember it. Stupid brain!
Whilyfox has some good discounts, as does Sennheiser. Seen a pair for £80 down from £200. Even at £200 it’s a better buy than a beats.
Ive not really looked, on Amazon over the last tow days, as I can’t be trusted, and can’t really afford to be tempted atm. Bit form the news clippets that I’ve seen it looks far better than last year. But that isn’t hard.
I’ll check it out cheers.
Edit- they say you never forget your SN, well it’s true. However, for the life of me i just tried to fill out that form, and having that many passwords floating around in my head, and that I’ve bastadised my service Number for passwords etc, I just can’t think of it.
Ive bookmarked the page for when it comes back to me (probably will as soon as I his post), or the next time I go in the attic and look at my discharge certificate!
Probably only said it 20k times too!
Much easier Richard to just use your phone to pay instead of a card. They Google can really pin point you. Also with android pay, they don’t give your bank the info, so then just one person (google has that data). Not sure how Apple pay works, but think it’s a similar approach.
Your life is about on par with mine Richard. As I’m self employed, working form home, Google keeps insisting I work at the hospital, cos that’s my most frequented place. I kept telling it I don’t, but about 4 times a year it tells me I do! I gave up in the end.
So now if I say “OK google, navigate to work” it pulls up the directions to out local hospital.
Hope all is going well Dave.
Thought it must be. Just think it’s going to cost you 9x more for every shower. ☺️
I have no idea how that works. It was just a joke, Before someone jumps in and explains my wrongs.
Out of interest how old is the 1kw shower? I’ve never seen one before. Or never noticed one in my life. My last one was a 7.5 I’ve not long swapped for a 9. As it packed in. User error.
I don’t mind either comes in handy often . Your tracked wither you turn it off or not, so you may as well leave it ‘on’ and get the personal benifits from them.
I use the truecaller sms client, and that still let’s you select multiple convos.
I use truecaller sms as my primary sms client, but before I install TCsms I install Evolve sms app, as that lats you back up and restore sms msg to most of the big clouds.
So I download /restore all my messages with evolve sms, then download truecaller sms for default duties.
When it’s time to get a new phone (or periodically) I’ll fire back up evolve sms to back up the new sms I wish to keep.
Evolve is a very good messaging app in its own right. If I recall, it went slow, may be fixed now. I used it primary for years.
I think the truecaller sms spam filter is why i stay
But evolve may do it for you with needed TCsms
I may of had a bit of pop, so my texting may be worse, or even better. Lol
Teleflip not heard that for years. It’s long dead.
Looking at that at pm reminded you can buy (rent) a Skype number, and communicate with that virtual number.
Never mind The tax, I don’t they paid wholesale for anything.
July 7, 2017 at 1:35 am in reply to: Windows 10 pc not recognising some USB and portable drives #9986I wouldn’t try and over think it. Its windows, some days it just decides to have a day of screwing with you just for the fun of it. Usually just as you need it to be at 100%!
I’d only start trouble shooting if it got semi regular.
