I missed your last paragraph Ed, but what you say you want, is exactly what bulwark does. It had an inner dock that launched RM in either landing craft or RIBs, and probably alot of other stuff. It came into service after I left.
Also every ship has RM on board and one of there roles is to deter and/or disable emery or pirate vessels.
It’s basically RM bread and butter, between tours, that and guarding our tomahawks un north.
What we need is a few more smaller shops like it.
I think it is terrifying. I have no doubt all countries have meetings like this, but this was a big public special.
I took from it, that they are gearing up for the next cold war. All while scaring their people with Russia this, China that….
Towards the end a few voices try to reign it back, saying “by America, we mean the allies”, while other members was saying “all that is produced in space America wants a cut of”…
I have no doubt that America would drop any allies that don’t serve a purpose to them.
Funny thing is as the meeting started, I was thinking this could be looked back on in 100 years as the start of Federation of planets, but I soon realised it was more the formation of the klingon war council.
I found half, or more, of the committee and its guests, was bat shit crazy with a list for power, money and most of all war.
Wouldn’t mind a tour of the museum that hosted it.
Now all they need is a working rocket ? talking of owning space, they cant even get off the planet without the scary Russians help. If I was Russia I’d be giving no more lifts.
I agree Ed, apples thing was always it’s design, samsungs, whether you like the ui or not, (I don’t), you can’t deny its design is ahead of apple and the rest of the big android brands.
I think the new pixel2 is about on par with the ip10. nothing wrong with it, it just isn’t a pretty as the sgs8, that is about 6 months has older.
I did love apples play on “finally an Led screen good enough of an iPhone”, and the sheep all whooped!
Back to google, I was underwhelmed by yesterday’s stuff, it was very Apple like show, aiming the products at a very apple like crowd.
Though the buds with built in babble fish, was awesome. If they work half as good as the demo, even though they are just Earphones, for the real time translation alone, they are worth $160 (probably £160. Give it 12 months and you’ll pick up something similar for £50. Don’t think it does Welsh, so I’m not sure why I’m excited by them.
@planeman I just looked on your link, I spec’d the 5″ to 128gb, same as my P1, and the price is identical to last year’s at £729. I went for the 5″ as I wanted a “small” phone for once. Having not had a littl’un since the release of the original moto G.I’ve never O/C a gpu, I’ve had a play with the tools, but can’t recall ever permanently setting up an O/C profile for one.
My poor i7 920 has been o/c for years, (since new), but great gains could be had with that cpu, stock was 2.6ghz and you could easily take that to 4ghz, mine has been at 3.8ghz for the best part of a decade.
My i5 750, again 2.6ghz stock spent its first 5 years undercooked so I could run it fan less under the lounge tv. It would get bumped up to 4.1ghz for gaming, (fan back enabled) then back to underclock.
Now it’s at 4.1ghz iny lads room. Again it’s almost ten years old. Intel made the first gen ‘Core i’ to last.
I’d only bother, if it struggles with something you do often. That cpu should be more than fine for home/game use for may years.
If doing intensive tasks like rendering big videos if you do that often, you probably got the wrong cpu for the job.
It’s not a big enough jump for me. It’s a great bit of kit, minus the loss of aux port.
I got the pixel last year, going from the nexus 6p knowing it wasn’t going to be a big jump. It wasnt, but mainly because the N6 was so good. What sold me was access to the Google assistant.
Though objectively, the pixel was a minor bump at best over the 6P, and I think the bump her between the pixel (1) and pixel 2 is even smaller.
If your in the market for a phone, I’d pick this, or the LG V40 (iirc), but if you have a top tier phone from the past two years, I wouldn’t purchase it. Which was my conclusion of last years pixel.
Now if you have an iPhone, from the ip6 onwards, why would you spend the best part of £1k on an ip8? The 10 looks like it will be here some time between this month, and Easter (lol), so I’d wait for that, if I had any iPhone.
The problem is if the ip10 is closer to Easter, then the new Samsung will already be here. Given the sgs8 is arguably better than the ip10, which in reality is apples Compition, no matter how good the pixel 2 is. It’s a good job the apple fans don’t tend to cross the divide
Maybe so, but my rule still stand. If something is paid for, and flips biz model, it’s usually to try and save jobs, so add are injected, then the lay offs inevitably come 4 months later, so the updates slow….. And around it goes.
I never trust a product that pivots to a free model on the consumer side of stuff. Usually means adds to support, and eventually death. Or rather not enough is paying to support the endeavor.
If me [incert software] went form paid to free, that would be my que to start the search for its replacement. Free is fine, but dropping the paid option is never a good longterm sign.
I wouldn’t get in a taxi with any PM.
However it’s it on the taxpayer, I’d have them drop me in the south of France.
If I had my choice of MP I’d like Churchill and Hitler in the cab. Find out some truths that looks lost to history. It would all come out as they wouldn’t be about to not argue about matters, I could just seed the convocation and sit back.
An update about 2 weeks ago seems to have broken compatibility with Hotspot shield. When I activate it I get “no Internet connection ….” quite an issue for a proxy app!
I just grabbed this ?
Hate to break it to you guys, but the cost of employing some to clean the robots on their return, will eat up any potential profits.
Man would that be a grim job.
Good news. Amazon I’ve always found great at sorting issues fast.
Lol the Moto Lines are way to complex. I use to love the 2015 Moto E 4g, not to be mistaken for the Moto E, or the 2015 Moto E non 4g version!!
It wasn’t just as simple as 4g vs 3g, the 4g had uprated cpu and I think an extra GB of ram. The two phones was massively different. I don’t think the non 4g version was even on sale for 6months. To make it more confusing, they soon dropped the price e of the 4g to what the 3g one was.
The press the we have the 2016 moto G4/G4 play/G4+
You would think the G4 was the most basic, followed by the plus, and the Play would top the line. But the Play was entry and the plus topped it out!!
I must admit, I haven’t look at the G5 and don’t know if it has plus or play style variants. But knowing them there probably is, and they introduced another two on top.
Back to the camera, there always has to be a compromise and the camera is alway it. However I haven’t really looked into it, but last years moto G4 seems OK, which is miles better than the original moto G, which would take one good picture out of 10 in great light. You had to have your subject stand really still. But I loved that phone. I gave up my note 2 for it. Then moved to the M8 within 6 months.
What is great us the moto camera app interface. Also the P9 camera app is fantastic, it’s simple, but with one tap you can make it as complex as it gets. But it’s set out perfectly.
The Google camera on the pixel and nexus line is poor, though it takes fantastic shots, so I suppose simple is best, let the software just do its thing. It’s hard to take a bad shot.
Actually if you come across cheap nexus 6P, it would make a cracking camera phone. Same camera and software as the pixel, just the pixel processor doesn’t bottle neck.
Last summer on holiday i forgot my charger to my nikon, so by the time we went to Madrid we had no camera. This was the first time I’d really checked out the 6Ps camera performance. The pictures are good, however if your using it on a tour, you soon find out after about 30 pictures the camera just sits there “proccessing”. With the pixel they eliminated that.
That looks a very nice laptop. Does it come with a digitiser? My youngest wants a windows ‘drawing’ computer, but I don’t want to have to deal with a 9 year old and windows. Given she is already invest in android, this may be a good option.
What is the app support like?
Looks a very nice phone, 4gb of ram too? how does the camera compare to the S5 camera? Never liked the S5, it was the phone that was used turned the wife off Samsung. Though I think the first Android update Samsung dialed back what I called ‘peek touch wiz’. The menus within that os on launch was a mess. The camera was good, iirc anything from the sgs3/note2 era, was when (android) phones became an acceptable replacement to point and shoots for me. For the most part since of the 6P, my dslr only comes out on special occasions.
I just had to replace it the battery in the wife’s P9. The battery was (is again) good. Wifey in all her wisdom, against my nagging, will keep the phone on charge all the time when at home, and she wonders why she can’t get a phone battery to last a year! Always best to keep in between 20-80%. I always charge to 100 overnight, but in the day if needed, I’ll give it a 20min top up once it hits 20%, or if i know I’m going out.
That lenovo looks nice, I wonder how it stacks up to the Moto G5?
Very strange indeed. So now not only do I have the Googlemail/Gmail, but I have 00. And just 00.
So I get 4 for the price e of one.lol
The Gmail thing I always understood, I’m sure In the early days of Gmail you had to use googlemail.com, then about two years in they let you use either.
The dot thing is a new one on me! Also my lad just came in and he never signed up for the gaming site, so it was probably some one with a very close email addy to me, and miss typed, it happens quite often.
This is the reason I have my family photos on a number of cloud sites Google, Flickr, then a mass dump on ms and mega.
I now upload all photos via my phone and my phone sends all pics to their relevant places. I’ll then take the tile to put pics into albums in Google and flickr. But leave the other two as one big blob of photos.
I no longer keep photos on a pc at home.
But a cracker of a word. If it’s being predicted, it means it’s being used alot out on the Web and in people’s text boxes etc… . Ewww I just don’t know ant to think about it. Lol
Send that ssd to me bob. I’ll make sure he gets it. Honest.
Photofraped bob!!! That’s a new one on me.
