I’d love a BB8 but my dogs would just want to  mate with it.

I was looking at these earlier this month for a skoda octavia 2006 model (iirc mk2), and they was around £150-300 on Ali express, for a decent one running android 6.0.

If you let us know the model and year bob, we’ll be able to source you some choices. But remeber the footy is on tonight, so I’ll be dark for a few hours. If we get beat, dark alot longer lol.

Also bob you say radio is not the right term for them anymore. They are now called infotainment systems. That’s not one of my made up names it’s ligit. (the spelling may not be.) not infotainment. Some refer to the systems as Enfotainment too. They are interchangeable terms it seems.

Pm, I don’t mind this at all so me hate it. But the kindle reader and cheap kindle fire both do this. I not only don’t mind it, quite liked it, as you hardly seen it, and to me it was just like an ever changing lock screen background. Once unlocked, ad gone.

Id take the ad version over the non ad one. Even if there wasn’t much discounted for it.

                  Others are doing this also.

Update – £50 saving, bring on the ads.

He won’t want a cd player. Kids don’t use cds. I personally have never had a cd disk in either of my last two cars, dating back to 2007.

I know my kids first question when they got a car, is how to I get my phone connected. The phone is the new car entertainment  system.

Not sure what a Double  din* is myself. But these days your best using somthing like amazon (or better Ali express), search for car model/stereo and you’ll get systems that fit in the space required and come with the correct trim

I know if I wanted to swap mine out, it would be a massive faf, given the ‘stereo area’ is also filled with other other buttons, and there is a semi hidden cd slot. Fron day one I’ve use a cd slot mounted phone holder. As the slot is in the exact position where you’d  want a screen. I was too mean to cough up the £700+ for the Sat nav upgrade. Many cos I’m mean, but also cos I now there isn’t a single car on the market that does a Sat nav that is as good as Google maps on android. So I’d knew Id never use it.

Now my next car, top of the list is android auto/apple car play, as it’s basically an extention of your phone, mirrored on the screen. (it does more but that’s all I’d be bothered about).

*update, yes it means double hight unit.

Lol. Then rations look just as bad, but heavier than mine. And our 24h rat packs was remarkably heavy for what they was.

At least they wasn’t bulky like them you pictured.

The WF are not locked to a carrier bob. So any card would work out of the box.

I’m glad you like it so much, I’m sure I put you on to them. We had a couple of the first ones here. They was great.

Do you ex service persons (nice and pc there), become very cynical years after they leave. Or is that just age?

A few weeks ago I was having a session at an old friends house, and he asked would you go in and fight for this government. My instant answer was no. But on reflection in the late 90s I went, under Blair leadership. Then we never knew of his lies and illegal invasion plans etc, but many more since have joined knowing this.

So my answer would be, at 30+ (I’m really stretching out 30s lol) would I, hell no, but if I was 16 and knew f all about the world I would. Not cos of any national allegiance, but because it was the most fun ever.

If I knew then of the  political BS of the world, and what our role is, then no. I’d have no issues if I, or God forbid, one of my kids was killed in a proper war that actully meant something, but for them to of died in Afghanistan or Iraq, I don’t think I could take that. And thats the reason when son 2 was 16 me and mother, wouldn’t sign his papers for the infantry. He has gone on to become a gas fitter now.

Son 1, that went uni, was going to go back and do anther course, minor surgery (or the like), but once he for induction out the Raf and navy would pay for him to do it, (they would of his first course, but he knew best lol), he decided to go down that route.

However while he was waiting for his navy intake date, he scored a job with boots as a trainee chemist. He still says he is going to go the navy route, but now the pressure is off, given he now has a career, and not just a job. Also his starting wage is more than I ever got paid working for someone else!!!

Quite proud of the little (bigger than me) shit.

Ed I doubt there is a decent phone on the market now with a removal battery. Sadly it is want it is. Though I’ve not pound a phone lately that was hard to replace the battery. The wife’s Huawei  P9 I changed just last month.

WF do great phones. The one you mention for £190 will be on par with the latest moto 5g (or maybe the 4g,again great phone). But at £90 (atm) for the 5g, I couldn’t recommend anything else. If I needed a phone today, that is what I’d get. No need for the latest and greatest. I bet even the camera is above a pass grade now. That was the only draw back of the original moto g. It wasn’t as good as the note2 (nowhere near ad good), but the 5g I’d hazard a guess is better than the the note2 was. And that was a decent snapper. It was the first of the androids to surpass my old Nokia n95 form 2005/6. Christ going from that to the snapper on the original android (g1), was a big set back in picture quality.

Bob it is a clean phone. It comes with a o2 sim, but you can just bin that. The only downside is it’s locked to o2. But ad has been mentioned, the unlock code is just a couple of quid, and it takes all of 30 seconds to unlock it.

I can’t remember the actual route, but you Dail in star,  hash, something, something then enter the code in the box that pops up. Jon done. The code will come with the instructions.

If your girl is already on o2 or Giff Gaff, it won’t need unlocking, just pop in her sim and she is off.

                              https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.nbu.files

Google own ‘files go’ has just come out of beta and is a decent way to share files, (though I like push bullet for that.) but it’s excellent at cleaning up old files and apps. Defo worth a space on any phone.

Yes that’s the knife. My rat packs cam in silver bags. Boil in the bag stiff. All the mains where horrible. The sweets was OK, and the breakfasts, but oh my you had to be hungry to eat the mains. Especially as we use to eat them cold the majority of the time. Yuk yuk yuk.

I see the old ones, may be American, wad in a tin that heated its contents. Non of that in the 90s, a hexiburner that would take the best part of an hour to boil a mess tim of water, so you’d usually give up and have luke warm food, followed by a warmish wet.

Lol, not said the term ‘wet’ in 20 years. In training you was bollocked for calling it a brew, “why don’t you f-off and become a pongo, if you wanna talk like one”. It was hard for me as it was always a brew to me.

Stupid navel language . I think it has its own name I later learnt. (and then forgotten).

Day one, your given a RM dictionary. God knows what happened to mine. It was Gash. (rubbish)

I remeber those knifes well (if they was the same ones. Kept on a lanyard in your upper right chest pocket.

I don’t think I ever used it, as we was issued knock off lethwrmans. Really crappy copies, that was soon replaced with a real letherman or gerber, at our own cost!

The 90£ g5 my MiL just ordered. If you want it delivered its 4weeks as pm said. But you can pick up local. Mil had to go to the next o2 shop down the coast. But it is possible to collect next day.

If it’s still £90, jump on it bob. It’s a steel.

Update. I just checked and not all my local o2 shops have them in stock at £90.

If your girl isn’t on o2 (or Giff Gaff) an unlock code will be sub £5, probably.

Bang on topic given they the royals, are the crown, and that is the mark for crown property. The same mark that will be on the grooms dress, and the majority of guests and security.

And tbh so what? This isn’t some tech related issue that a new reader would get lost within. It’s a nothing thread that, as always*, has evolved. It may yet circle back to weddings if that is your true interest.

*a tradition that has followed its parent forum. So it’s hardly a surprise threads evolve here also. If they never, and was just ridged in its content, this forum would just be another cold forum with zero personality, and tbh would have no reason to exist. It’s not like FM has a dedicated reason for existence, bar that the users became friends over a long period of evolving posts. If this wasnt the case, this community would of died 11 months ago.

Trump said in one interview once, that he doesn’t exercise as he believes that your body only had so much energy and using it up on exercise shortens your life.

Ive just looked it up and the arrow is called a broadarrow (or pussers after the rum in the navy) its the mark of ‘property of the crown’.

I probably learnt that when we last spoke of this too. And I’ll probably learn it again in another 4 years time. Lol

Do you not call all army issue kit in that army “pussers” (sure we spoke about this once before), not sure if it’s the same today, but in the 90s everything army issue have a stamp on it that looks like a crows foot. I always knew that as  “the pussers arrow”.

20 years on from joining I still have, and still wear daily issue socks, down to about 8 pairs. They have done 100miles Yomping, and 100s of washes since. And after every wash they feel brand new. I don’t know if the current socks are of the same quality. I know the black Raf ones arnt. I have a hand full of pairs of them, well gave them my number 2 son, as he works as a gas apprentice. And they just want upto the quality of the green 90s socks.

I’d go and look in ex army/navy shops, but they all seem to of closed down around my area.
