What can that be about though? As last night on my travel home, the ‘trans European express’ was on with Danny Kelly, and every tine they went to news, when it come back in, he wold be banging on about how the producer is really pulling the snow related songs out.
For years now I’ve just thought in Internet rad or maybe FM (though I don’t think TS is on FM), played the music through. As the news you get is identical every 15mins. So I thought they just rerun the news to cover the song.
If I wasn’t so hung over I’d look it up. What is it with age and hangovers that last for more than a day! I felt better yesterday than I do atm. ?
I shouldn’t pretend to be in early 20s and be boozing all day Saturday untill 5am! Something that only ever happens when I go back home so see old friends.
Today is a write off already I can feel it. I’m already contemplating going back to bed. However I’ve got a deadline for today /tomorrow morning! I reckon I can fit a few hours kip in And work tonight.
Hate beer.
Sort of a side issue, (but related to dab) I listen to mainly talk sport in the car, every 15mins the cit to a song, but the put sport news on for the 2 mins or so, so you just catch the last 5 seconds of the song.
This doesn’t bother me at all, but it does make me wonder, who hears these songs? Do they not have a licence to play music over Dab?
If only there was a way to find this type of stuff out. Lol
Regarding TV, I live in the sun 5% category that got a downgrade in signal with the analog to digital switch over. We went unwatchable to nothing. Luckily we got fast Internet quite early to save me from sky’s grasp.
We are at minus 2 and we on the protected side of the mountain facing the sea. Over the top side it will be minus 5 of lower.
Given there was a good foot of the white stiff last night at 8pm, it’s gonna be a crunchy mess up there.
Most of the sea side collegs are open, though the campus’s just inland (higher altitude) are all shut.
The outlier is the higher high-school that is in a fine non snowy location, decided on Friday that they was having Mon and Tues off!
The jnr school has an app to keep parents informed and as of last night, the news was keep an eye on the app. At 7am this morning they gave the all clear. My 9yo wanted to spend the day over the mountain playing. She wasn’t happy when she was she left 5 mine ago.
So now we have decided on Saturday or Sunday, we’re heading onto snowdonia on search of some proper snow. It’s not going to melt up there, and will keep getting deeper thought the week.
I hate the show to, so it’s gonna be a grand day indeed.
That’s why I love amazon. Simply no messing. I bought a nail gun a few years ago, it didn’t turn up, I contacted amazon via their app phone back service, and the sent a replacement out, arrived the next day.
About a month later the original turned up, I contacted amazon, and they said just keep it. So that coverdale my prime cost, and got my BiL Xmas present covered.
Ive never had a bad experience with amazon customer services, and for that reason alone prime is worth its price.
On a similar note Halifax building society, had never let me down either, on about 4 or 5 occasions, I’ve had iffy activity on my account, one was a cloned card that took the max out for a few days, the others was for online transactions, usually concert tickets, and on each ovation, within 10 mins, they have transferred the cash back.
The stage thing (each time), they said well have to send out an form for you to sign for fraud purposes. I’ve never once received the document to sign and return.
Have about a foot here, all the main roads are fine, but our lanes wasn’t fun on the last 20mins of my drive. Usually a five min drive.
Sorry I’ve just got home from a weekend bender, and I’ll be asleep within the hour.
Tomorrow night I’m free, or thought the day I’ll be popping on/off as usual.
What a win hay! You done us, and yourselves, a great favour.
Let’s hope big Sam doesn’t wreck my weekend!
I love gaudy Martins stuff, seems a super nice down to earth guy.
Wheeler dealers, for me was all Ed, Mike was just filler to add drama. (at bit reality TV style.) I’ve not seen the new non Ed show, not sure I get the channel it’s on on now tv.
However as said the show was all ed, discovery should bent to his will. As again like guy, Ed seems down to earth and a little eccentric.
Staying at a friend’s tonight, so I’m gonna log into amazon and let him watch it. He is that for from geek, he can’t change a plug. (I shit you not), so pc’s and on demand TV is way over his head.
You can see his type a mile away, He has an iPhone (with a broken screen). ?
As I said earlier, I often watch TV in the car. Did in this and the old one. Never bothered my neck.
My FiL done historical north Wales tours, and when he was away or couldn’t do it I i wad the back up guy, it wad a decent day out tbf. But it meant two stints of about 2.5h of sitting around. At that one I used the ipad2, and loaded it on my of sapranos episodes. U had on of the magnetic flip covers. The best part of it was you could hook it over the minibus steering wheel, push the chair back and use the vans speakers. It’s was a good way to watch it.
Though I’m a big fan of watching TV on my phone with Earphones/buds in. I find it more immersive than my 40 something inch tv and surround sound in my lounge.
But not as social.
I wouldn’t want a dvd player in my car, for the same reasons I don’t want a cd player. Disks.
Didn’t mind the old track, I did mined the stupid part the written for the yank. I bet he didn’t either tbh.
Not a fan of the motor cross set up would rather a decent track.
Glad celeb brain crash has gone. I found out last months, it was a p-take out of the BBC, as the beeb wouldn’t let them do celebs around a track, as they held the rights of’ x’months. I think it was more these 3 couldn’t replicate TG for that long tbh. So they did the Celeb brain crash thing to needle the beeb.
The yank bit I hated as it was just cheap stereotypical jokes. Which said more about them 3 than how crap the yank was. I’d of like to see him back, but not scripted.
Over all it was decent today. It wasn’t topgear of 2005-9, but decent. I don’t think it was as good as season 2 of the new topgear. I thought that was very good, but tbf the second half of season one of N-TG was good. Each episode improved on the last (mainly.)
Oppersite to season one of GT where it peaked with its opening sequence of ep1.
I learnt just last months that sitting in your car idling the engine (to keep warm etc) is actually illegal. This is something I do alot.
My cars mpg turns to Litres per hour, when stationery, and it reads 1L/ph if it’s a hot day it doubles to 2l per hour. Bit I’m more than happy with. To me it’s just a tax on waiting.
Just has today’s appointment cancelled due to snow. Living in in a hilly back water area, any small snow and everything come to a halt. Glad the appointment was cancelled as our youngun is also off as their teacher could make it. More like he thought “snow, long weekend excuses”.
Don’t blame him tbh. It did mean after my lad a got off to work, girl to college (who came strait home), me the wife, the dogs and the youngest all got back in bed and had a lie in. Still in bed, and the girl, wife and dogs all snoring.
I have some paperwork to do today, was gonna do it in the car (to circlet back on point) at the ozzy, perfect time to do paperwork, (well excellent work). Now I’ll need to squeeze it in elsewhere.
I may go for a liquid lunch on my own and do it. If these don’t surface soon. I’ll just seek out.
I think the question was could anyone scan them and read the info. The simple answer is no. As the info say argos put on there delivery qr/bar code, can noly be read by a machine /app that has access to the argos barcode database
Now anyone could scan a tin of beans and the info would be readable buy any phone. But not your parcel. The delivery driver probably has access to the private database and
I doubt it, as that code would be a one time generated code
Most items like beans, or bud etc have a industry standardised code. Them codes are in public databases that shops and apps can use to look up items
The one time generated code, would be private between you and the buyer, so will be private to the outside world of baroda tables.
Tho these are just my thoughts on how this should work.
As to the driver knowing what you have in your box, I know some companies (yodel) the drivers have a list of what is in each box.
So if you have a popular* high price item to buy for Xmas, a Switch, ps4 pro, Xbox one x, iPhone or Samsung phone, etc.. And the busimess use yodel, GBpost, city post, or some of the lesser liked carriers, don’t order it. As you will likely not get it
Luckily I knew my yodel delivery fellow, and he knew I Kew of his light figures, and his coke debt. So he would drop off a pile of goodies at his dealers house, get a tenth of the stuffs worth every week.
I don’t know how he got away with it. He never got sacked for sealing. But laid off cos he was sent down for dealing drugs.
When I asked him how he knew what he had on board, he shown me the way klip board. Real modern, a print out of address, contact details, bar code sticker iirc, and contents
I think it’s ment to put them off sealing, by showing them that the company know exactly what each worker has. But as they have so much “losses” they couldn’t keep up I’m figuring out who lost what.
Once the poorly paid staff figured this out, it made all but the angels, fill their boots.
The only company I don’t check who is delivering is amazon, as if there is an issue, they will have a replacement out In 12h or a refund while your on the phone.
Last year amazon, iny area, started to phase out DPD (?), however of late DPD has been delivering again AND it may of taken 12 months but amazon logistics is now good, and there in built follow your driver feature from with in the amazon app is great.
Similar to the DPD follow my driver feature, but it’s withing the amazon app. To Dail down on where your DPD package is you would then have launch the DPD app.
So I’m happier 12 month on with amazon logs.
That’s the same with me, i listen to talk shows, pod casts and audio books, so overall sound isn’t high on my requirements. As long as there is no frigging squeal that is.
the squeal in mine is bad when listing to talking stuff, lots of dead air, but if you put music on its alot less noticeable. Sadly I never listen to music.
On long trips more than 30 mins, with wife of kids, I’ll put the music stations on, and put my Earphones in and listen to my phone directly instead of via my car speakers. Most of my travel is alone, So I get to choose.
Update- second thoughts I probably spend more time stationary in my car than I do driving. Given the choice, and I often am, I’ll opt to wait in the car, than in yet another hospital/doc/dentist/you name it, waiting room. In the car I can recline the chair right back, and fire Netflix up on the mounted phone and listen on the cars speakers. A more civilised hospital trip.
Your boy has brains. Build a system above your bosses station, making yourself unsackable ?
Celebs in Hollywood (I’m sure it’s sunny there) have swore for years about vit d jabs. Amy sign of a runny nose and they are on it. You’d think the sum would be enough.
Maybe the NHS should give out the jabs along with the flu jab.
They was even giving flu jabs out in the local jn school this year. We got letter first. And touch wood, this year has been alot better in our house, for killer (man) flu.
I think it’s only me that hasn’t had one. Had one when in RM and it didn’t agree with me one bit. The nurse said they are different now, but I declined.
I actually had the flu a free months before I was given the jab, I joke now I’ve got flu (man needs sympathy from time to time) but oh my, ended up in sick bay for 3 weeks on all kids of drips, ended up with a chest infection to.
Turned out about a week after I was took into sick bay, the camp was pit on lock down, as it really spread. Good job their wasn’t a snap kick off some where as wee was a few hundred marines down that months or two. Took me months to get over it too. And then I was literally fighting fit. I wound like to be my age now, or god forbid, 70s. I doubt I would of made it.
Nasty that was indeed. Defo wasn’t down to lack of vit d, I spent my life outside then. Now I don’t get dress if there is more than 30 % chance of showers ?
Working inside, more to the point from home, turns you (cough me) into a right pansy.
For the first ten years we lived in Wales, we still treated Granada news as our local choice. Or itv1/BBC north west.
The issue I had with our “local” news was BBC Wales is basically BBC Cardiff, so the English NW news was more local than the actual Welsh new service. By approx 150 miles or more. Some local news.
Now I simple don’t watch propaganda TV at all.
Fingerprints shouldn’t matter. All the screen does is register where the electronic input hot the screen. Your ‘prodder’ just conducts the electricity from your skin to the phone.
Your issue will be your aim. When ever I get a new device, it takes a week or so for my muscle memory to zero in on the new size/different keyboard layout etc.
Re cars, mine to has all the buttons I need on the wheel. Vol, channel select, cruse and limit control, plus horn. (I think that covers it). That means I don’t need the mess of buttons on the centre console.
Though when you by a 3rd party head unit, you can use all these features with the new unit.
One of the best cars out at the moment for UX design is the new pergeot 3008, it’s a work of art inside. They can’t build them quick enough, so atm the price is high. The only let down is the engine choice. Though I’ve not looked since it’s launched 6 months ago. I’d like a 140hp/340lb-ft deisel auto if it was me. Given the chassis, it doesn’t need to much power. (see the Zafira reference above 180bhp made me and the wife sea sick on our country lanes journt to the ozzy)
Don’t bother looking at the top GT spec, the bang for buck is the mid tier GT line spec. A lovely car. Not my type of car at all, but I’d happily own one.
It has a digital display, copied of audi, one of them called ‘digital cockpit’, where the pergeot beats the audi is in its minimalist, alloy turned toggle switch inspired switches. And fabric dash. Plus all the usual wheel mounted switches. It’s a fine bit of design.
Unless it turns out they are a bad car, I can’t see it, I don’t even think many will come up second hand, as to ‘upgrade’ that interior to another car, you’ll be looking at spending a lot. So looking at it that way, it’s £25k price isn’t that high. You’d be looking at £40k to get a nicer interior. So why would anyone sell them at 3 years old.
Well I suppose the lease market sales at 3 and 4 years will have a load on the market. Either way I reckon they will hold their price well. Even if it is a pergeot. Not known for holding price. But the 3008 and 5008 anrt your dads pergeot of old.
I’d still rather have something with a bit more oomph, and as I can’t afford an audi RS6, (£70k and up) I’ll probably be opting for the poor man’s version, the Octavia vrs (£27k or £20k if you don’t mind an ex demo) It’s only down on power by about 400hp on the audi ??
Takes me back to the old nursing school intake 101; half of what you learn over the next few years will be proven wrong in the coming years…..
Or words to that effect.
Just like what your meant to eat/avoid during pregnancy, seems to back and forth evey year. Or it was back when I was young and me and her use to partake in such activities. Lol
I find dab better than FM, solely be a use I don’t like music, and talk sport doesn’t seem to exist on FM (I could be wrong on that).
Richard, most 3rd party radio do away with a load of buttons. Car oems are slowly catching up to the fact that all the buttons are just add clutter and confusion. Actually it was this reason my BiL wanted to replace the 05 (probably dated back to 98) radio/dash/middle of tje octavia, as if you removed the radio nosing and it’s mass of buttons, it would transform the interior by 10 years. It’s just the centre console that dates it. He still hasn’t got round to it, been put of till after Xmas.
As to reception, both FM and dab are very poor in my car. Though dab is the more stable of the two. And much easier to find a station given, you hit tune, and you get a list of station, as you would on a TV set. Does away with the traditional pre set. Though I still have my main stations and the kids station on presets. With 3 empty, we’ll they had Spanish ones plugged in, but I think they wad FM. So I doubt they reach N. Wales coast.
Yes BL when I was looking at radios for my BiL skoda, the “smart android” units, mostly said Dab supported, but when I read closer, you actually needed a second, relatively cheap module, and a compatible Arial.
My car has dab/FM and signals to both are terrible, ever Vx car VC have given me, for services / insurance work /etc, viva, corsa, astra and Zafira*, all sure red the same weak signal as standard, and the fault they said they knew about in 2015,where if you charge your phone, it degrades the radio signal is still in 2017 (new model designs), and the issue where you charge via USB, and listen to your phone via aux in, you get a ground loop feed back through the car speakers, that squeals louder the faster your rpms rise, is also present*¹. It will be along time before I get another Vx.
*i loved the old Zafira, a great family car, never lined the new, current, model. As it now has a bonet and looks bigger in general. That wad until Vx gave me a top of the line, full leather electric 180 bhp version, it was huge inside, (took it on a trip run, after all mine is a small coupé). Tho 180phb and 350+lb/ft was way to much for its chassis, a 130 deisel is what I’d go for personally.
*¹ a simple £6 ground loop filter of amazon was all it needed to fix, it would be a 5pence resister for vx to solder in behind the dash! Though my BiL must have better high end ears than me, as he can’t listen to my radio, he saus there is still a high pitch tone. Though he is the only one that insists this. Maybe my years in the RM have taken the edge of my ears, but then again I think he may have the hearing of a dog. Given he is the only one to have this issue. But given I know it’s flawed from the factory, and the filer I have in place “fixes” the high frequency squeal, I believe him that some is still there. Thou as the wife kids and I can’t hear it, it’s fixed enough for me. BiL uses his headphones and phone when he borrows my car. Which he loves Btw except the radio. And his average mpg when I get it back shows he likes it a bit to much. Good job it’s a lease……. I wouldn’t want to be the guy to buy the car I’d leased before!
