I agree that what ever the update policy of Moto their speed of updates is awful. I bought my Moto G4 Play in February 2017, expecting to get the nougat update to 7.1.1 sometime in 2017. About two weeks ago I finally moaned to Moto ‘support’ about the lack of an update and suspecting that perhaps it was the terrible EE signal strength that was affecting things tried a Tesco SIM for a while. Still no joy, then on Sunday last with terrible timing 7.1.1 finally arrived. I doubt that it will make a huge difference to how much I put on the dog, but have to say the 7.1.1 appears to offer some advantages in screen clarity and a very slight improvement in speed of operation, even the EE signal appears slightly improved. So its is still one OS update behind the curve with security updates that hark back to April, but at least this year not last. At least it does not have too much cruft from unwanted unused rubbish. While you can disable so of the muck to clear screens, it still annoys the hell out of me that junkware hangs about to flourish back to life on many phones.

Real death trap territory and if they have been painted with an oil based paint, ‘to seal them’ they are even worse. So less than fire rated that I am surprised they have lasted this long.

Do not delay, they are really lethal, sadly they are also, or can be very darned hard to remove. Physical scraping is the only way, so wear a mask.

There is a reason why they are not or should not be replaceable.

You do not know what other sins were covered over; any one for asbestos rich or lead rich layers of previous ‘good ideas’?

The only suitable material for a ceiling is a fire proof plaster and plaster mouldings.

With the old trees about the area we do get the chance appearance of woodpeckers in the garden, but they prefer to stay beneath on of our trees to do their grubbing. Since a few of the old and rotting once standing tree rumps have now fallen, the food source has become rarer and potential nest sites have reduced, so visits have become less common. The main big visitors are tree rats (pigeons), rather more gentle doves and the more rare raptor. They sometimes drop in for a meal of tree rat, most of the others are a range of smaller birds, some very small.

Bob, there was a very interesting programme about the East coast floods. There was no way to come to grips with the unfolding tragedy, though as much as anything, everyone was unaware of how bad it was everywhere else and no way to pass warnings down the line with no one to hear the warnings or act on them. The damage was very evident years later, some lightweight buildings remained hundreds of yards from their starting places.

At one point it was very fashionable to remove the sand dunes with the results that the natural management of sand shifting was broken and in some cases half the county became covered with sand and the other half of the county lost its sand! It took years for the penny to drop and the re-instatement to start to take place.

Bob, we also have a number of old trees about the area along with a few woodpeckers, they are jumpy at the best of times and hate to be caught out in the open making them hard to photograph. It is an old agricultural area with links that passed several Kings Henry. The old farm house and barn collection is sometimes called dowager house said to relate to one of Henry the 8ths wives.

I know what you mean about the rookeries large ever expanding rafts floating high in the trees. They very evident in winter when the clocks of leaves are gone but the woods close to the bird drop are not somewhere I have seen any nests. though winder is not a great time to trudge the fields! Recently the fields have been black with birds rushing to grab all the seeds they can following the timely gathering in of harvests, though as usual when the magpies appear the air often appears to turn ‘blue’.

I’ve always used mischief for a group of magpies but on The Chase tonight they called them a tittering. Parliament is for owls. I’ve never heard of it being used for magpies. ? Further to my post in another thread, I’ve not seen any bees visiting our bird bath for several years but there have been a few wasps in the last couple of weeks.

I rechecked, parliament  is one of several names for the nasty bad tempered ‘things’ also known as magpies.

My prediction is that over the next 2-3 months Brexit will start to form a plan – a bad one. It will get partially ratified by the EU but with many holes. The Tory party will start to crumble. Corbyn will hit the Brexit problem home and cause a general election where he will offer a referendum on the deal as part of his campaign. Corbyn will win a significant majority – perhaps one of the largest ever. Brexit will be ended. I will be happy! ?

That should that happen it would be a good enough reason to bring back assassination squads if the arch anti Semitic zealot gets anywhere near to where he can cause real damage. As bigots go, so he should – ASAP. While murder is normally illegal, his lot are oh-so-keen to ignore any law with which they do not agree, so that would be a good place to start. Still hopefully there are not enough really silly people to vote for his made destruction squad, though with education the way it is in some areas noting is certain. Might be as well to bury anything valuable at a safe depth.

PS he hates the EU with an abiding hate, so him and the EU would be a bunfight that sounds like a recipe made in somewhere other than heaven.

Of dear the can of worms would get kicked over. If you go for (a) you would have to say

                      i) that the sclerotic EU with its mixture of failing southern Europe states is not a model for full employment.

ii) being stuck with the European court of injustice that forces the payment of our tax income to terrorists and other foreign criminals would have to continue.

iii) that there is no hard evidence either way about the impact on jobs or investment or anything else as all forecasts are little better and often worse than wild guesses, e.g. the reaction to and claimed result of of Trump’s recent toys out of the pram episode now ‘getting America moving’ claims.

                      b) The alleged Irish question is only a question at all because the odious EU wants to be bloody minded to show how little interest they have in negotiating anything that would be a departure from their straight jacket approach to everything. Other latest forays have included a proposed ban on pet passports and a potential block on pensions being paid to UK pensioners within the EU prison compound if their pension plan was an insurance based package not issued by an EU based outfit. Not only that you might you have to buy insurance to visit their compound and you might also be forced to buy it from one of their outfits. Those look like even more good reasons not to visit their forbidden territory.

                      c) With 52% suggesting that would be the ‘sod off and do one option’ I do not see that bringing out anything besides revolt. How many would be prepared to actually burn continental produce as the French did to ours a few years back is anyone’s guess, but it sounds like a good response. The only way it could be the slightest bit tolerable for many would be if we followed the French and others bad example and ignored all EU dictates, which the jobsworths club, also known as the (un)civil servants would never do.

The appalling crass options you set out should ensure great rallying clarion calls for someone with the gumption to stick it to the likes of the EU ‘No’ drama club; Rees Mogg might well be an such ideal leader. At least we might nail the spectre of ‘give the illegals and criminals everything they want Blairs‘ with his foreign holidays only (the UK countryside is too horrible to consider) and ‘make money for  the criminals’ manipulating the human wrongs laws wife.

There is one issue, since the initial goodbye notice has been served, technically a vote should only be to accept or reject the forced terms from the EU, or would this only be an advisory vote?

                        I do wonder what possible question could be used as the basis for a vote? There are many potential questions such a;

The EU have clearly shown they are a one size fits as it is political and financial union, not withstanding the previous vote do you now wish to be for ever bound into this rigid structure?

                        Yes

                        or

                        No’

                        Through to:

The EU believe that they are the best that can ever be and they will continue to obliterate all national differences, do you agree to forever bind the country into their laws and structures?

                        Yes

                        or

                        No.

I am sure others people would have other ideas, and that all would be equally contentious ,thoroughly divisive so unlikely to result in an harmonious out turn.

I know the feeling, used to chew asbestos string to make it good for an early form of Rawlplug, bung the wet thing in the hole and ram it tight, wait a few minutes and be good to go ahead. I did much the same as you with with brakes, though not commercially and used the likes or perchloroethylene and trichloroethylene and so on in various situations. Pipetting up cyanide solution was not a great idea in retrospect. I caused a mechanic to have kittens more recently when I put my hand over an exhaust to confirm it was sound and not leaking and so on. Most of that breakfast is coming back into fashion once more, except perhaps for the preservative in the sausage.

If they get scratched at any point in their life, then the shattering issue becomes a real live threat. The skin effect on the glass holds a lot of internal stress inside the glass; break that and the integrity is lost and a bang results. Rough cleaning or poor handling is the usual cause cited. Simply bonding an element to the glass should not be an issue, though removing any old material could be where an issue arises.

I am confident it was part of the murder of crows. The beak and feather pattern are more aligned with the crow than the rook. The ferocious magpies are a totally different bunch, the crows are noisy but the mobbing magpies are a really nasty parliament of these often spiteful birds.

Harvesting is in full swing at the moment with a lots of big slow vehicles lumbering about and breaking down with flat tyres. A side effect is the fields and lanes are coated with discarded produce attracting anything that will fancy a nice easy meal.

The attached write up made it very clear that the criminals have no real data, they are ‘armed ‘with an old password that may well have been orphaned off years ago and an e-mail address. they have then stuffed this limited information with a tasty filling of fantasy. In my case I would be interested to know who any video could be created with one webcam being in a cupboard and the other being a close up viewing tool to use on waste pipes for checking out drain blockages, that is boxed up in a cupboard.

However, that is not the point, by putting in one or two given ‘facts’, they have an e-mail address and a sometime used password they hope that the fear factor might trick the punter into forgetting the rest is fantasy and pay up to see what it is all about.

Except that there is nothing to see anyway.

I am not sure that password length/complexity is relevant in such a case. It is very likely that some site got data diarrhoea and spewed the good bad and the ugly, anyway.
