I think the reason he gets mentioned is because, like Jeremy Clarkson, peoples gut instinct is that he would be a natural Brexiteer. I’m sure Brexiteers would love to be able to use his image, I’ve seen an American cartoon that fell into that trap.

But Steve’s right, Europe now and then is very different. Who knows what he’d have to say now, we can only speculate. There is a lot of historical revisionism going on, Bristol is rife with it to do with the slave trade. That has never been swept under the carpet, I have know about it and Bristol’s part in it from a very early age.

This is how people like Berlusconi and Trump get it.

But I thought all the blue brexiteers had cut up their membership cards? They can’t do that and vote BoJo in. More contradictory stories spun for the desired result at that time. He won’t get in the top two, I doubt there will be a top two, another coronation I expect.

Ed, Keefs link is to an entirely different form of Optane. It would be less confusing if they changed the name but I guess it’s the same technology.

It is not the M2 Optane we currently see on modern motherboards, it sits in DDR4 slots and requires a different memory controller currently only available on 1 CPU. Instead of a disk cache you can think of it as a slow non volatile ram replacement, ish, sort of. It sits between SSD and ram in the hierarchy of closeness to the CPU.

That’s a different sort of Optane, used as a disk cache. It uses an M2 slot. The new sort is like a fast SSD that goes into a ram slot.

I’ve just built a gaming PC for my son’s mate and it has an Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 256GB M.2-2280 NVMe PCIe SSD.

It’s insanely fast. Unfortunately I didn’t get chance to run Crystal Mark but it boots in 8 seconds (i5 9400F & 16GB 3000Mhz DDR4). Snappy doesn’t begin to describe W10.

I’ve only ever had 1 issue and that was sorted within the hour by email no questions asked.

If I was buying W10 right now I’d be looking at this one

I’m voting Raving Loony this time, I could put an X in any box.

As many Tory party members as they like can cut up their cards, the more the merrier. I’ll provide the scissors. If Momentum would like to join in, even better.

<p style=”text-align: center;”>It may be its attempts at bandwidth steering. 5ghz is over hyped any way. Headline speeds are impossible to achieve without the corresponding hardware at the client end and range is less.</p>
For pubs and clubs I always put in 300N. Everything can understand that. The ISP is always the bottle neck in any case.

Neil Hamilton was kicked out, but he’s back in politics. IIRC he wasn’t directly voted in either.

Everything in our system is in theory, in practice it’s quite different. Not that many MPs are actually in jeopardy and if they get the two fingers in one place they’ll pop back up in another soon enough. It feels they are more likely to be de-selected by their own party machinery than their electorate.

When Bradley Stoke was new and we had our first Town Council all those elected were a local Independent as everyone felt we needed local people to sort the many many issues with our new town. All the “party” candidates live elsewhere. Sadly that hasn’t lasted and the party machines have taken over.

Bristol is an easy commute from Newport by road or train, and now no tolls on the bridge.

There is a lot of industry on the northern fringe (where the M4 / M5 cross), that’s 30 mins from Newport Central. Centre of Bristol +15 mins down the M32 (but not in the rush hour!). Loads of trains to Parkway (by the M4 / M5) as it’s the London line and a similar number to Temple Meads (centre) on the Cardiff – Portsmouth service. That also goes through Bath, only another 10 mins. Cardiff is easy peasy by any method of transport.

So don’t limit yourself to Newport.

There will be a queue to light the fuse.

We’ve got years of this ahead, either dealing with the fall out of No Deal, an extended WA or actually getting on with the next phase. And a Tory Party leadership contest stitch up before, after or in-between.

God knows what will happen at the next GE, whenever that is, as Left and Right just don’t fit with Leave or Remain (and variations thereof). Even the manifestos are going to rip the respective parties apart even more. Not so long ago I would have said Labour was about to split, now I think the Tories are more likely to. I wish they’d both do it.

                        Hmm, pass the matches ?

The free upgrades are long gone, but cheap licences can be bought on E-Bay, I usually pay less than a fiver. They would require a complete reinstall, but so would Linux. You would need to make a boot USB in either case.

W10 update issues are over stated IMO, mostly things just trundle along quite happily. I’d say they are far less than troublesome than previous Windows. Linux can have it’s moments too.

I wonder if the XP machines might be a bit old for W10, you really need a decent dual core and 4GB of ram, but you must do something about them asap. One of the lighter Linux distros may be the answer, I like Lubuntu as it’s based on Ubuntu behind the scenes but has an interface I think you’ll find easier to get on with. Go for the 18.04 “Bionic Beaver” version as that’s the latest long term support (LTS) version, the newer ones contain new features that may not make it to the next LTS.

Don’t forget you can run the whole Linux thing from a USB stick, you don’t have to install it, so you can have a look at several distros before making your mind up. But I would stick with Ubuntu variants to start with as they are better supported by the community.

Parsely sauce is for Birds Eye boil in the bag cod. Vinegar is for fish and chips. End of.

Gravy on chips? A bit ooop north but OK. But I hear we’re thought a bit weird having cheese and onion jacket spuds. An no-one has heard of Easter Biscuits made with oil of cassia and not the fake Mary Berry style efforts. But no I don’t know what a mangel wurzel is and I’m pretty sure no-one in Bristol does either.

I like the pies in the Fullers pubs, the Hung, Drawn and Quartered in Tower Hill is a favourite. But that seems an appropriate punishment for putting that green muck on perfectly good grub ?

” the UK’s first and only broadband that can automatically switch to 4G” Probably won’t be long until that statement gets changed! Another BT first that isn’t.

Still just what you need in one package. The cameras will only take up an eighth of that upload bandwidth and probably enough download for all the regulars to stream a video simultaneously.

The Tory party faithful, how many of them are there? Not a lot. So they will decide our next PM. Very democratic. Surely the sort of thing they vilify the EU for? But they won’t get a chance, the MPs will stitch it up like last time and with probably the same result. There isn’t one of them anywhere in the whole building I think is capable of doing the job.

Might as well have BoJo and cement our status as a laughing stock of the world. Look at the bang up job he did as Foreign Secretary. Marvellous.

                                          I wouldn’t bet on anything.

I’ve had a lot of moderate leavers say to me recently they just want to see it torn up and forgotten about. Mostly they are in the camp that thought they’d like more power to the UK but having seen what Parliament would make of that power they now dread giving them more. They still don’t like Brussels but they despise Westminster more.

They are sick of the lies and self serving politicians on all sides. They are sick of the lot of them but especially the crass Mark Francois types. Even Ress-Mogg is being seen through as very clever but probably too clever for his own good. Corbyn? No one has any idea what he actually stands for.

I said the moderates would start finding their voices and they have. The gob shites still get the air time, as they always do as it makes good TV, but they’ve not had it all their own way for quite a while now.

Nobody buys the spin that No Deal will be OK, they know it won’t be. Even ardent leavers say, well it may be a year of pain. Just a year? People wonder what the DUP £1bn bribe has actually bought the country, or even what it has bought TM. Just think what that could have been spent on, plus the God knows how much for No Deal preparations.

Personally I think we are only days away from a GE being called because Government is about to collapse. That will kick the can down the road again and TM can bugger off and hide with Cameron. Then watch the infighting over the Manifestos.

And remember, all this pain and division has been caused for one reason and one reason only, the 40 year Conservative Party infighting. They have knifed their last 4 PMs, torn their party apart, torn the country apart. I hope one thing comes out of all this mess and that’s political change. Fat chance.
