You may think that Remain will lose more heavily, the echo chamber I am in says the opposite. I think the answer to everything is either 42 or who the hell knows? I don’t think the Government do. Plan A is bust and there is no Plan B.

Cox was still hinting that there is a legal rabbit in the hat but MRDA. His answer could also have meant that they will do what the Benn bill says on the tin. The usual legal weasel words.

It’s all talk but the Government backed by the right wing press have started the Champion of the People narrative. I think it’s all they have even though they are epitome of the Establishment, that’s what I find amusing. Rank hypocrisy seems par for the course, even more so than it always has been. Oh I forgot, schoolboy shouts of chicken across the playground.

BoJo’s only hope is a deal but he hasn’t come up with anything new. I don’t think there is anything and there never was, just half baked ideas that seem plausible until scrutinised.

As usual we’re being given the stats they want us to see slanted in the way they want us to see them. Just looking at the first headline result:

The majority of British adults say Jeremy Corbyn (54%) and David Cameron (56%) have acted dishonestly over Brexit – the two highest of all individuals tested.

Boris was third at 51% Not far behind, still in the “majority of British adults” and hardly endearing, but you’d never know unless you waded through the stats.

Which I don’t intend to do any more 😀

Along with David Cameron and Jeremy Corbyn, the majority of British adults say that Boris Johnson has acted dishonestly over Brexit – the top three of all the individuals tested. Nigel Farage was fourth.

        How does that sound?

Mine is 25 in a few weeks. He’s always liked his grub and he’s gone nuts on tea. He’s 200 miles away in Leeds so we don’t see the parcels arriving but judging by what he’s asked for for his birthday it’s from all over the place.

They have a lot in common. Daniel now deals solely with commercial IT infrastructure too, the likes of Aldi in size.  Still working his way up to the stuff I did 😉 He’s coming home for his birthday as he shares it with his best mate who’s still in town. It could be interesting where he wants to go for the family meal.

I’ve not come across the Yogas. I believe you can bend them around and use them as tablets?

The specs are fine and it’s a Lenovo, if it’s the form factor you want then go for it.

I think there is nothing left in his arsenal, this was it.

Pretend to negotiate, because actual negotiating is too much like hard work, and keep Parliament away from scrutinising what’s (not) going on until it’s too late. The opposition couldn’t come together in any coherent form in time. Threaten Tory Remainers with the sack and the idea they’ll be letting Corbyn in. Slide out on the 31st by default, that’s got rid of BP, then a General Election. Boris the charismatic hero will bring everything back together now the nasty stuff is behind us even if he has to bribe us with £billions. It had to be done, waffle, waffle, now I’ll put it all back together. Blame the EU for all the nastiness.

Except no-one else was reading the script. He went so far he pissed off even his own side so much they were prepared to sacrifice their careers to stop him. The opposition came together enough to spoil the party. The judiciary were asked their opinion and dared to give it. The only defence was that they weren’t allowed to, well it seems they are.

What’s left now? It seems all the ERG have left is schoolboy goading to try and get a GE to their timescale in the hope that we slip out whilst everyone’s looking the other way. The game is up, it’s not happening. Nobody is falling for that any more.

ED, you may well be right about the National Unity thing. Corbyn will have to be asked first but he knows he can’t strong arm his way in, not even with his own side. I could well see him giving way to say Harriet Harman after a week. Get a long article 50 suspension, take your chances on a GE with LibDem and BP hopefully tearing bigger lumps out of the Tories than than you’ll suffer. Make Leave or Remain noises depending on how it’s going with promises the people will decide. Remind everyone they’re voting for Lord Snooty and his pals, the people who shut down the mines etc.

I could see a Labour / LibDem pact in the event of a hung parliament if Labour said they would campaign for Remain. Just like the BP would insist on a No Deal of the Tories.

Another 6 months of this I feel but Dominic Cummings has been check mated.

See the recent posts, there’s plenty of decent refurbs about depending on your budget.

I get a lot of mine from MicroDream but the last 3 have come from Amazons Renewed Guarantee scheme. One of which was from MD.

My own workhorse laptop is a refurbed T420, now 8 years old and still going like it was new. Well better, it now has an SSD 😀

They are neither running nor hiding. Parliament is putting the No Deal nonsense beyond any back handed dealing from a Government that has just shown they are not beyond breaking the law. Then there will be a GE and if Johnson hasn’t got us out it’s good night Conservative Party and probably goodbye Brexit, certainly a hard Brexit.

I find it amazing that the party of the Establishment is positioning itself as the anti-establishment party. The party of law and order has to be taken to the highest court in the land. The party of fiscal responsibility intends unleashing the biggest fiscally irresponsible act you can imagine. And for what?

The movement that wants to bring back power to the UK Parliament and Courts is prepared to rubbish both of them to get what it wants and behave like dictators. Backed by people who are out to make a killing out of the trashing of the economy.

Mendacious doesn’t even begin to describe the current situation.

IF you can find one it will cost the earth. This can’t be seen as a PC with a monitor strapped on, it’s a big laptop. All the parts are specialist.

If funds allow I intend trying various devices because I’d like to keep my Draytek. Even if I could get around the USB dongle IP issue it’s physically in the wrong place for 4G reception.

I’ve seen a Netgear LB2120 that has IP pass through (what I mean by “modem mode”) but it’s £130.

Let’s see if he continues with his threat of doing it again. Somehow I doubt it.

So Parliament probably back this week, will they vote to suspend for the Conservative conference?

Will he be flying back for PMQ’s? Looks like he’s been let off.

One thing he won’t do is resign.

EDIT just watching him live from NY. I really don’t think he expected this nor how comprehensive. In denial, still trying the people vs parliament (and now the judiciary). If prorogation was nothing to do with Brexit how can this judgement be frustrating it?

It’s all unravelling in front of him.

@VFM if he has an ace up his sleeve I’m dying to see what it is. Looks like it’s a joker.

It’s an internal sim slot. I have the same sim in a Huawei USB dongle in the back of a Draytek router at a customers.

As an internet connection it works fine but the dongle has it’s own IP address and it’s this that appears as the external IP address  of the site. This makes port forwarding impossible. Not a huge problem in my case as the Draytek has a permanent VPN to the Draytek in their HQ so I can access the network from the HQ.

I understand that this is a function of the protocol used to access USB dongles from routers.

If the B535 doesn’t have a modem mode, one solution would be to connect your router to it via Ethernet with a permanent IP address and put that address in a DMZ. The B535 would have the dynamic DNS agent on it to deal with the external IP address issue. I’ve not tested this yet but in theory it works. I’m not sure how the Synology’s would deal with it though.

No comment 😀 and don’t worry about bothering your grandson, no-one else will and you’ll be the person he most wants to help, especially if there’s a fish supper in it! Seriously Bob it goes with the territory and I’m sure he’s well used to it by now.

You must get an SSD, indeed get an M2 SSD that will plug directly into the motherboard (small screw at one end, it will be in the mobo box). The socket is right next to the graphics card slot, don’t worry it won’t get hot. I’ve just been stress testing a 12 thread monster with an RX570  and the HDD temperature hardly moved.

You can get a Western Digital WDS240G2G0B WD 240 GB for £31 Used loads of those.

Cheers, that made my mind up.

I went for the B535 with dual band AC WiFi ( 2 x MIMO) and 4 x Gigabit Ethernet. It’s also a Cat 7 LTE device so capable of faster upload (100mpbs) and download (300mbps), but a bit academic. It also has 2 external antenna sockets.

It gives me plenty of time to plan replacing TT. It will be interesting to see if it can be put in “modem” mode.

C’mon now, Dave, the procedural rule book was smashed asunder by Bercow even before proroguing took place. So gloves off and all that.

My complaint of the trashing of the running of the country applies to everything that’s happened, not just one side or the other. But at least Bercow is on the side of Parliament – or have you forgotten how you got the referendum in the first place? Yes, as you well know, Bercow was once the darling of the ERG when his “shenanigans” was in their favour. They even saved him from the last attempt to oust him. The same applies to the loose attitude to the Lords and the Judiciary depending on how they rule.

I said a while ago it’s not the process it’s the outcome that induces these faux rages.

I see you are toeing party lines on the Lib Dem thing. I await Leavers accepting a Remain Government decision to cancel the whole thing if it happens and getting behind the Govt of the day. Of course you won’t and I don’t expect you to.

So we have to wait until we’re out on a hard Brexit – thank you for not saying clean – to prove if the country is totally trashed or not. Seriously?  What will you do then? Say sorry you were right, I take it all back?

WTF is wrong with the compromise where you get out and we get not too far? After all that was seen as a reasonable outcome by even the most fevered Leaver back in the day when Leave was but a dream.

“If you feed a crocodile it will keep coming back for more”. I think that sums up the BP, ERG and DUP.

I see from a blackboard outside Argos that EE have joined the fun, but at at the right price.

TT really is driving us nuts, 5 outages in 30 mins this morning and back to half speed. There is absolutely no point in complaining they put so many things in the way. It took ridiculous effort last time and they appear “reasonable” in the eyes of the authorities – I’d like to see them taking the front off the BT socket every time.

I am seriously thinking of jumping the gun and running two ISPs for a while.

Oil takes millions of years to create, it’s a finite resource. Oil is not found in big lakes, like the graphics show, it’s actually contained in porous rocks. Oil wells can only fill up again if there is oil to drain into the voids left.

Not a brilliant analogy, but think of squeezing a sponge out then leaving it. You can’t squeeze it all out and after you leave it for a while the residue will sink by gravity to the bottom. If you only ever looked at the bottom it’s appeared to fill up again. The sponge didn’t create any new liquid and it will eventually run out.

Burning the oil releases things like CO2 which have been shown to be greenhouse gasses which cause temperatures to rise. So even if we are on an uptick of temperatures we are also indisputably adding to that by using fossil fuels. It really is that simple. What is complicated is what it will do to the weather patterns at a particular time or place.

The ice is melting and that cannot be a good thing for coastal communities. Arguing whether man has anything to do with it, even though that flies in the face of the evidence, doesn’t alter that. Yes producing electric vehicles produces some unwanted by products but that’s in one place and can be dealt with more easily. It’s not spewing out in my high street.

I think you’ll have some problems Bob. You may find some drivers won’t install as MS has an agreement with the OEMs that after certain cut off dates new hardware will not be supported on older o/ses. This includes early builds of W10.

This is not the world you were in last time you did a build. In fact it is a lot easier than it used to be unless you go off piste. It truly can be a nightmare if you do and it’s so avoidable.

You are dodging the W10 bullet by less than 20 weeks, it’s never worth it.
