Looks very much like my meds started. The blood pressure meds were reduced after 6 months as my blood pressure was too low. Ever since it’s been perfect.
The only day to day issue I have is very sensitive fingers, probably the statin. If you cut yourself be prepared to wait ages for it to stop. I don’t bruise easily but it definitely takes less than it did and they last for longer.
All of which I’m quite prepared to put up with 😀
Have what you want, it’s been sat there for years.
Not really worth the effort.
I’ve got:
- 2GB 667 DS
- 2GB 800 DS
- 1GB 800 SS
- 1GB 800 SS
PoE are quite often 10/100 with Gbe uplinks as that’s what you want for CCTV. Specialist ones will have a “CCTV” mode that isolates the main ports so they cannot talk to each other and drop them to 10 mbps to allow 250 metre lengths.
Ones such as yours are aimed at Corprate desktops with SIP phones, hence the extensive management features. The extra £££s comes from stackability, redundant PSU options and the HP badge.
For a 16(8) Gigabit PoE switch I use the TP-Link TL-SG1016PE JetStream Easy Smart for £130. You get some basic (but useful) management features for the same price as those without any. £165 gets the PoE on all ports with the TL-SG1218MPE and a couple of SFP slots for uplinks.
The switch I’m about to use on the next project is very similar to yours, TP-LINK T1500-28PCT 24-Port L2 Managed Fast Ethernet PoE+ Switch w/ 2 x 1GbE RJ45/SFP Combo & 4 x 1GbE RJ45 Ports (180W) but it’s only £180 against £462 for the HP.
Almost certainly, I’ll have a look tomorrow.
I wouldn’t agonise over it, any well known brand and USB 3 are all you really need to look for.
As for technology, hard drives haven’t really progressed that much for PCs, but they do specialist drives now for NAS boxes (24 x 7, vibration and heat) and Surveillance (24 x 7, vibration and heat, 64 video streams, emphasis on writing and protecting against bit rot). These are available in huge capacities, I’m just about to order a couple of 10TB surveillance drives.
In this case we know Dan will be happy but yes, these days 2 x GBe connections just isn’t enough for enthusiasts. Easily sorted with a £13 5 port gigabit switch, and that’s a fancy one with a steel case!
Most users just aren’t going to notice if they’re on 100mbps though.
Dan, you can do as I do and power the Pi’s off the switch with an £8 Type C Active PoE Splitter 48V to 5V for the 4B and these for the 3B’s (I know you have splitters already by IIRC they aren’t 48v to 5v).
Not a chance. They’re pinning everything on getting a trade deal with the USA and not getting too ripped off.
We will be toeing the line like good little boys no matter how daft it gets. The thing is how Boris spins it to make it look like we aren’t.
You are probably going to want to use one of those ports to connect to your router though
Only if his internet connection is >100 mbps
The photos I’ve seen of strip downs show the internal drive is 5,400 rpm. TBH a 7,200 rpm is unlikely to make a really noticeable difference in the real world so I wouldn’t worry too much.
Looking at my Amazon orders, these are the drives I’ve been buying: Toshiba Canvio Basics Portable and Seagate Expansion Portable in various capacities.
Have a look at this article.
#2 would have been my choice any way, I use these Toshiba Canvios a lot for mobile storage and as backup drives for Synology NAS. One is attached to the back of my Freesat TV right now. They have proved very reliable.
Yes there are two 1Gbe uplink ports. This is a managed switch so could be set up any which way, you’ll need to do a factory reset on it first.
Reading the setup and installation guide it should then pick up an IP address from a DHCP server so you can use the web gui, otherwise you’re going to have to go in via the console port and a telnet session.
Phoned Three asked for business broadband unlimited sim to go in a router. Told to get the business AYCE @£20 a month Inc vat.
It’s basically a CCTV switch for someone with lots of PTZ cameras that need more juice.
I get mine from TP-Link for an awful lot less. HP always want silly money and Corporates will pay it.
The one time Corporate mobile of choice for the likes of BAE. My daughter has one from the same source to see her through Uni. Better with an SSD and an extra 4GB of ram but quite usable without those.
With that in mind I would go for the ThinkPad T430 as it has both for £219, is the same build quality and is another Corporate favourite for the likes of Royal Mail. I own a T420 which is used daily for my business.
Good news indeed.
+1 to VFM’s comments about specialist hospitals. I was taken straight to the Bristol Heart Institute which although it’s physically part of the same complex as the general hospital (in which I’ve spent some considerable time) is separate in all other respects. The nurses know exactly what questions to ask (and how to phrase them) when assessing you.
The next morning I was having some pain in “that place” but not enough to mention it, it clearly wasn’t another heart attack. The sister spotted it, asked the right questions in a way that didn’t spook me and 2 paracetamols later it was sorted (inflamed lining from all the mucking about).
I do this myself, but with online tools, when looking at long WiFi links. I have to take into account the Fresnel zone as well but the terminology is still “line of sight”.
