I’d like to know where all those people at Bournemouth area came from. If the council are right it was more than the entire population of Dorset! It’s a PITA to get to from this part of the world, there are much easier beaches to hit much closer and easier to get to any way. I can’t imagine it’s anyone coming east for the same reason.

Birmingham was mentioned but I’ll bet it’s the M3 corridor plus it’s only a 2 hour direct train ride from Waterloo. By train it’d be easier to get to Torquay / Paignton from Bristol, never mind Weston-super-mud.

Not heard of it, but I do like the idea of local breweries. Bristol seems to be an internationally renowned hot spot these days and they all seem to have survived by switching to home deliveries. I have received thank you emails from the two very local ones I’ve been using (S7N and GWB) both of which aren’t “craft breweries” by any means.

My favourite pub in the world, de Wildeman in Amsterdam knows all about Bristol beer making regular trips here elsewhere in the West Country looking for interesting brews. It re-opened on 1st June but only by reservation (2 hour blocks for up to 4 from 1 household) between 14:00 and 19:00 so I’ll not be rushing for the Eurostar just yet. Starting to really look forward to the day I can though.

I wouldn’t worry about it, the ISP will want their router putting back on for troubleshooting. They won’t have heard of MCT Approval either. I keep my TT router handy just in case.

All you get are the drones reading scripts, you will not get to speak to any techie. If you want that sort of service you need to go with one of the smaller players who aim at businesses.

Tippon – no need for that. I use Synology’s C2 backup service as do most of my customers.

The fact that Tecnicolors are approved tells you need to know.

The Draytek Vigors are all on the list, including the Vigor 130 which is a true bridge. Plug that in and use any “Ethernet” router you like, such as the high end Asus and Synology. The 130 disappears having done it’s job of turning the VDSL into Ethernet.

I didn’t want a smart meter either, ended up with Igloo.

That’s odd that the adaptors won’t work with the new router, they just present themselves as Ethernet as far as it’s concerned.

I’ve only ever built two CCTV systems with more storage than that. One was for the Admiralty Interview Board who want to keep 3 years worth of officer interviews, the other a care home with 30+ cameras.

I would still rather use 3 or more disks in a redundant array though.

Not cheap, but Ubiquiti do an In-Wall WiFi 5 PoE Access Point. TP-Link’s Omada AC1200 Wall-Plate Access Point is considerably cheaper at £58 but the Omada controller software looks terribly clunky compared to Ubiquiti’s.

A few of those in strategic locations and you may cure your WiFi issues too. Broadbandbuyer would set them all up for you and give you a free cloud service for a year. It’s only £2.50 a year after that anyway.

It is incredibly rare for a switch to go down, even the cheap ones, and even then they tend to fail totally. It’s the last thing I’d have looked at too.

But the switch is usually the backbone of your network and £50 now gets you a “proper job” TP-Link TL-SG1016D 16-Port Gigabit job. It’s less than £20 more for the smart managed version TL-SG1016DE which gets you into the world of QoS, VLANs and aggregated connections. Mine is now 5 years old and never missed a beat.

Perhaps that’s why they’re sitting on the parts of the BAME  report that says what needs to be done?

If that does happen as you describe at least we will know who all the racists are. And to think a couple of months ago people thought we would emerge a kinder caring society. Never was going to happen.

They really are blind to small businesses, look at the farce over financial help. I don’t count as I get less then 50% of my earnings from being self employed. That means a 50% cut on an already small amount. One guy I work with went self employed in February, luckily he’s been able to keep working. I could maybe get a loan but I’d have to pay it back, might as well go through it now as later.

No, it’s all about big business who can afford to get things like apps and who are getting their wage bills paid too! The same people who are using this as an excuse to offload staff and change working conditions – it’s not just British Airways.

The local bus company are pointing out that a reduction to 1 metre only allows a single extra passenger on their double deck buses (none on single deck) so some routes are going to have to go if financial help stops. So much for a green recovery and the bus service was bad enough as it was.

It’s all talk and no detail. They pay more attention to polls and surveys than doing the work.

“The Science” is now well and truly busted as people with an agenda are now saying, “well you can find a scientist to say anything you want”. And we have the Government to thank for that as that’s exactly the drum they’ve been beating to justify a political decision rather than admit to it. Add Cummings into that and there is no trust left any more.

By September we’ll be back to every man for himself.

Next door have a Technicolor Plusnet router. Let’s put it this way, Barbara’s iPad and wireless printer are attached to my WiFi not hers!

Nothing wrong with your choice of router but the AC1200 will serve you just as well.

I see we’ve gone from 4 to 3. I think that is the excuse to go to 1 metre and getting the trolls too interested in going dahn the pub than watching the TV criticism.

Bitlocker, domain joining, RDP and Hyper-V are the main ones.

Sad isn’t it? More over promising by Bojo and friends. I seriously doubt we will have any app at all. How much money has followed it? I see Hancock is blaming Apple.

That is about all you can do. The Live CD will soon tell you if it’s hardware, I have only seen 1 fail in all my time though so my money is on Widows. This year I’ve had several customers with WiFi issues that seem to be down to updates, all are now OK.
