My new (Huwaei) TalkTalk router has arrived. I fired it up to tweak the DHCP pool and wireless password and noticed how strong the signal is. SKYBF64E is the Skyhub and it’s 3 metres closer than the TALKTALKCDFBAF, both a floor below. NCC is the Ubiquiti UAP a floor above and is even further away.

Also look at the clustering around Channels 1 and 11. All those routers are supposed to be using auto channel. My Sky I shifted myself, it set itself to 1.
Use the 120GB SSD for the system disk and the 1TB spinners for the data in whatever amount makes sense.
I lived with a 128GB SSD for 18 months with no problems. I can’t remember where it ended up but they’re coping OK with it too (or I’d know).
A bit slicker and a big change to the notifications; they are now grouped which cuts down the clutter.
You can now run 2 apps side by side, which may be useful on a tablet but on the phone it’s a bit small.
15 mins sounds about right.
48GB is just too small for a Windows boot drive.
I’m surprised you got more speed out of the same fibre from a different ISP as it’s all the same Openreach product.
I was working part time in London at the time (south side of Blackfriars bridge) and used to walk past there on my way to Liverpool Street Station (I was staying with a mate in Essex). I remember the cascades of fanfold printer paper coming out of one of the office blocks with it’s walls blown out.
I don’t remember being at all concerned even though I had an 18 month old (#1 son) and wife at home in Bristol. I don’t recall the Mrs being worried either. The chances of being in the wrong place at the wrong time are tiny. I don’t recall anyone at work changing their daily routine whatsoever.
That deal has gone, but the new one looks similar. £27 for 38mbps (set for 24 months, plus £5 for 80mbps) is the same but now has a £30 set up fee.
I added 24 x 7 calls for a fiver, evening and weekend was £2.50. I can’t see what that offer now is as I’m an existing customer.
March 23, 2017 at 6:51 am in reply to: Win 10 Cumulative Update KB4013429 (OS Build 14393.953) #5470Yes they install on their own. You have a problem if you haven’t had any since Anniversary.
Bob, I get involved in these lost causes and probably always will do for the same reason you do.
Do <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>not</span> beat yourself up about it, but neither should you be afraid to say “I told you so” and then “No, I can do no more”.
March 22, 2017 at 11:19 pm in reply to: Win 10 Cumulative Update KB4013429 (OS Build 14393.953) #5466I didn’t time it but my normally scorching i3 took a lot longer than normal both before and after the reboot. However a lot of that is probably down to the malicious software scan that was part of the bundle.
Not seen KB4015438 yet, but have had the “Windows 10 Creators Update is coming soon” notice.
I’m afraid there’s little you can do about people using vehicles as weapons against people on the street.
Remember there were British victims in the French and Belgian attacks too, plus I’m sure all the others that have happened in recent years around the world.
Grieve for the victims of terror of all nations.
Sure, but bear in mind it’s indoors only. £15 inc postage would do it.
I also have some AXIS M1054 if anyone’s interested. These are proper business orientated jobs: 720P, multiple H264 streams, PoE (inc PSU as well), PIR sensor and illumination LED, Microphone and speaker, I/O port
The i/o port is basically a 2 wire affair with voltage either on or off. It’s used to trigger say a light or siren or a solenoid.
It can also play prerecorded sounds clips, comes with a barking dog and this one (vid clip) or you can do your own.
I’d want £50 each + p&p for them though (£300+ 3 years ago, as are their replacements now). They are ONVIF compatible so picture wise will work with most any NVR or software (no problem with my Hikvision NVR). Manual here
Putting a camera behind a window never works, especially when the IR turns on.
I’ve just got one of http://tinyurl.com/kwobaa4 to test the two way audio and one of these to test the motorized vari-focal (ignore those prices).
I’ve also got one of these gathering dust if anyone wants it. If I can remember where it is…
That does sound like a bug and not a setting.
I’m sure it will be fine. It’s a task where we already know it can perform. It’s getting repetitive. Still not long until the next lots out. That was always the area I am interested in.
Here’s a possible clue. Is the channel set to Auto? If so it could be setting itself to a channel out of range of your devices.
You could try setting it to a specific channel and see if that cures it.
There’s a useful Windows app WiFi Analyzer to decide which channel to use, or this Android one.
EDIT – just followed my own advice and moved my 2.4 ghz UAP from it’s self selected Channel 1 to Channel 11. Large files are now transferring from the T420 to the server 25% quicker @ 8 MB/s (64 mbps).
Well you could install Windows as it just works…. :bye:
My usual approach to these sort of problems is how would I make it happen?
Apart from the Android prompt mention earlier, which is a definite may be, I can’t find any such Windows option.
