Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, Birmingham and Cardiff managed to pull it off without incident, it’s called common sense.
I see they’re pulling off the old “if you weren’t there you can’t comment” ploy. I don’t think you need to have been there to see how violence by men against women peacefully gathering to protest against violence to women by men looks. I mean, it’s not like anyone put it on Instagram or anything…
And the bridge. NI and Scotland will have gone by then, plus they don’t want it anyway.
Yes I shall miss PM on GMTV too, but he ignored the boundaries and paid the price. Perhaps he thought he was greater than the show? He was increasingly shutting down any voice but his own and it seems behind the scenes too. It was always him doing the storming off and throwing toys out of the pram, not the others. Dozens of GMTV staff complained about him, not just members of the public.
I’d just point out Andrew Neil destroys politicians without shouting over them. Andrew Marr doesn’t do too badly either, or Paxman. Andrew Neil has said he can see a place for him but not doing the same sort of ranty shouting act.
The best thing though is on programs like Question Time when members of the public have a pop. They aren’t afraid of their careers or guests refusing to attend their show. BoJo was genuinely shocked when he was called out by Conservatives at the hustings for not answering questions.
I thought much the same, they wouldn’t be queuing up with us. I remember a program about Heathrow where they have a special reception area for this sort of thing. Here you go https://thepointsguy.com/guide/windsor-suites-heathrow/
What do they do if it turns out Charles isn’t the father? Far too embarrassing all round and would just open a different can of worms.
According to the new BBC DNA program, 1 in 50 are finding out the same thing when they get their DNA tested. There was one bloke who was told his father wasn’t his biological father but neither was the bloke who’d told him he was (which had started his DNA quest, to see if that was true). His potential half brother looked very similar and they got on like a house on fire, so at least he gained a new mate as he lost all respect for his mother.
If the program you’re on is sponsored by Coca-Cola and you start questioning whether people actually like the drink or are just pretending you’re going to get in trouble. You can debate the rights or wrongs of it but I think most people can see that would be the consequence.
ITV are heavily behind mental health issues with the ‘Britain Get Talking’ campaign. ITV were accused of being hypocrites giving him a platform to basically shut down someone who was talking about their own problems. Remember that in the studio he was genuinely very much on his own expressing those views. He also tried to shut down people of colour from expressing their views on perceived racism.
This how he operates, if you don’t agree with him he shouts all over you. I enjoy that when it’s the lying politicians trying to peddle a message and indulge in some gaslighting, but not when it’s people who have been asked on a show for their side in a debate. It’s often left to Susannah Reid to intervene and try to shut him up so they can be heard.
It’s not woke to call him a bully because that’s how he his and deliberately so. Indeed he has been boasting of how their ratings have been increasing because of his approach and calling out the BBC for being too soft. This time he went too far, which at some stage he always does.
My guess is he’ll be back on the new Andrew Neil news channel which is going to be fully of shouty presenters who refuse to “compromise”. Unless of course the interviewee is of the same political persuasion. It’s going to be Fox News UK and he’ll be perfect.
Watching the recent Ben Fogle at Chernobyl program, the returners are outliving those who stayed away!
Yes, I just caught up with that subtlety. Another twist is that Zara Tindall would never be a Princess as she is Anne’s daughter and only males can pass on their title. You can see why Charles may be thinking of slimming that down to immediate line of succession only. And it is in the hands of the Monarch, not some ancient set in stone rule.
It seems to me they didn’t want to work for The Firm (apart from the bits they liked) any more or abide by their rules but still wanted to be paid, both in money and in kind. I mean poor old Harry only had his £13 million legacy to survive on.
The Mrs got her call through to book online for the Ashton Gate regional centre and got to book both dates at once.
It’s all for the Yankee Dollar, however there will be truths in there that’s for sure.
Harry knows that Archie would never have a title and everything that goes with it, but it suits them to let America draw it’s own conclusion.
Wonderful.
I agree with WoF, but one thing worth trying. Find it in Device Manager, right click, Properties, Power Management Tab. Untick “Allow the Computer to turn of this device to save power”.
I’d format the 480GB with Fat32 (to stop any NTFS permission issues) and physically transfer it that way.
However, if your router has a USB port you can probably use that to share a USB drive over the network as a simple NAS. They do tend to be slow though.
I’ve given up with any attempt to stop any “spying” by anything. As soon as someone publishes a workaround they’ll change their method or embed it in something important.
I use a PiHole to stop the bulk of the incoming adverts, but TBH it’s Facebook that’s the worst and the PiHole can’t stop them. Since I’ve been on FB and got Alexa I’ve noticed a real move towards targeted adverts but they miss the mark as they’re almost always trying to sell me something I’ve already bought.
They are still on the expensive side at the moment.
If you don’t mind a bit of DIY, and I’m sure you don’t, you can get a decent discount for one with no o/s and load Windows yourself. You can get W10 Pro for about a tenner and the OEM’s website will fill in any gaps that W10 misses. TBH it does a very good job with drivers, it’s more the utilities.
Ones that stick out on E-Buyer for me: Medion Akoya E15301 Ryzen 5 8GB 256GB SSD 15.6″ Win10 Home £480 Medion always did decent kit and are now part of Lenovo. With a 512GB £500 With 512GB & Ryzen 7 £580
Asus A509JA Core i3 8GB 256GB SSD 15.6″ No OS Laptop £500 It’s the IPS screen on this one.
There are lots of Lenovo V14 / V15 in the price range if you want a more mainstream name. The i3-1005G1 and Ryzen 5-3500U have very similar performance but the Ryzen 3 is more than capable of general office duties. It’s the NVMe drives that make the biggest difference.
2.5Gbps hits the commercial Wi-Fi world: TP-Link EAP660 HD £270 and I found a matching 2.5Gbe PoE switch, £350 for 8 ports and 2 x 10Gbe SFP uplink slots. All managed by a £60 Omada L2 & L3 controller that’s cloud enabled. Wi-Fi and Ethernet cards are reasonable prices.
That’s not too wacky for say a small design, animation or CAD studio but I think I’ll be waiting for a bit!
It’s a joke Ed! Did you hear the audio clip today?
I’m sure I heard phone home…. phone home….
NASA release more photos of Mars Perseverance Rover.

I can see that maybe they were hoping that manufacturers would rush to produce switches in volume. But NIC teaming seems to be an easier way to achieve that with cheap existing kit. Wi-Fi is getting there.
But even then it would only help with players on the same site.
Nice.
2.5GB Ethernet I just don’t get.
