And England one from bottom. Who’d have predicted the final places.
It recognises my strong Welsh accent
Don’t get a Google vacuum cleaner, the number of times I hear South Waleans say Tidy!
\\ipaddress in File Explorer shouldn’t take you to the login page for the router. It should take you to the root of the shares (usually the root of the drive). I say that as on my Draytek you can assign a different root folder for each user. This is what happens when I type \\IPAddress of my router (or \\vigor).
Try \\ipaddress\nameofsharedfolder
The shares don’t show up in File Explorer but then neither do the shares on My Synology NAS boxes. The NAS boxes have entries in File Explorer but that either takes you their media streaming service (Media Devices) or their login page (Other Devices).
Over the years I’ve given up the game of getting shares to show in File Explorer and use Add a Network Location (or Map a Drive) for those I access regularly.
Even VOIP has to hit the POTS at some stage and that isn’t free. It seems Google is sucking up those costs.
Looks like you can set up a Caller ID so that it appears to be you calling the contact.
Yes all the best Bob.
You have one Bob. It’s not a physical thing, it’s a Windows 10 service: Type here to Search.
I don’t think you can buying these days that isn’t flawed in some way.
That’ll be fun, sorting that lot out.
The PoE has made me sit up!
I’m not worried about the Ethernet being only 330 mb/s, that’s more than enough to talk to my NAS. Indeed I can see the 802.11 AC actually being used for data transfer with the Ethernet purely for power.
The fly in the ointment is £36 for the PoE HAT and the silly money people want for a power injector (a TRENDnet TPE-S50 4 port PoE switch is about the same money as a single injector).
Bursting a cars tyres doesn’t stop it.
I was in London a couple of weeks ago and the bridges have protection now.
Yes it was a bit of a weird one.
Not good for England, but perhaps and overdue wake up call.
Nice one keef.
Yes bummer.
With some quotes for bigger systems for bigger clients coming along I’ve just invested £600 in some professional CCTV design software and a ram upgrade on the PC.
It always makes me laugh when out with the installers and they say things like “at least you don’t have to buy any tools…”
Have to say I came to prefer Lubuntu (lxde) and Xubuntu (xfce) to even Mint.
If anything we’ve had more today. Now the wind has died down it’s piling up – onto a layer of ice that’s now hidden. Opened the front door and it’s a consistent 4″ deep compared to an inch this morning.

More drifting here. Some bits of the road are clearly visible (but pure ice, look at the car) with drifts of up to 2 feet in places, like in front of that white car. You can see where he dug his garage door out. It’s weird how it’s blown about, behind our wall its blown a drift 18″ high up against all the old kitchen bits waiting to be picked up by the council.
It’s just started snowing again but its still that dry powdery stuff and still windy so I guess the drifting will continue.

Pretty much the same here, it’s mid afternoon it’ll hit. A red warning for just west of here – North Somerset, Devon and South Wales – from 3pm.

Well the sun is out but it’s still -2 and snowing at the same time. Just light dusty stuff.
Looks like tomorrow afternoon and Friday morning is when the real event is due to happen with temps staying around -4.
Just as well I’m doing design work all this week and not camera installations!
Let me know if you decide to sell the K1.
