This is a bit different. D-Dan is only interested in the CUDA cores and not things like frame rates.

Found a range of device benchmarks here and depending on task individual performance can vary wildly but there is a general pattern.

From what I can see the 670’s memory throughput is slightly quicker but the 1060 has slightly more CUDA cores, plus of course the extra ram.

I get to jump between that era kit and modern stuff all the time and several are X4 Phenoms. It’s a different league these days. I think you’re right about the graphics cards though.

Why don’t you just get a motherboard / CPU / ram bundle (maybe a case too) rather than a whole system? Amazon i5 8600K here including some with liquid cooling.

Build looks OK for Intel but I would agree about the Ryzen.

There’s a Phoronix article The Fastest Linux Distribution For Ryzen: A 10-Way Linux OS Comparison On Ryzen 7 & Threadripper http://tinyurl.com/yanfpjah

I’m using my POE switch and a splitter so hopefully power won’t be an issue.

Mine arrived today, hopefully I’ll get some time to have a play over the weekend.

Funnily enough I’ve just been reviewing the photos I took and there is a 1.5m ish breeze block wall near enough to where we’d like to be (wherever we go one corner will be blocked by an internal structure). So rather than coming down we can go up from there with a robust 3 metre pole with a swan neck mounted 25 x PTZ on top. I think we’re going to go with wide angle cameras in each corner as well just for an overview, but there’d be room for another camera or two on the pole if needs be.

That’s that one sorted, now for the smaller barn that has nothing internal but does have walls things can be screwed to ? PTZ no good there as it’s unattended. Just going to have to be lots of cameras.

I knew someone at IFSEC would have an idea. Our area manager at the suppliers worked on a similar idea in France but with chickens. 30x PTZ on a long pole, which we had thought of, but didn’t know where to get the mountings made.

Yes. I believe you can unlink it from your Microsoft Account.

Go to your Microsoft Account online and look for licence management or something like that.

This one is out of my experience. I know what cameras I’d use if this was a normal building and had walls and ceilings to use! Off to IFSEC tomorrow, someone there will have done it before. There are some very interesting new panoramic cameras. Not fisheyes but multiple cameras in a housing where the picture is stitched together in the camera. So a view that needs 4 or more cameras now only needs 1 and only a single channel on the recorder. You can imagine the savings even if the camera costs twice as much.

ALL income is of interest to HMRC.

I use a financial advisor to sort these things out for me (pension lump sums invested) and IIRC the first £1k of any profit is tax free if you are a basic rate tax payer. After that you can use an ISA to invest up to whatever the annual limit is (£20k 17/18). Each year you get a new lump so its taken us 2 years to get all our investments protected, but as we’ve not taken any profit it’s moot.

The question is what to do with the cheese, the cameras I’ll sort out.

ED, the problem with ceiling mounting is it’s 8 metres up. Just getting there is difficult and expensive.

Wish I was going to be in Belgium on the 28th the atmosphere will be fantastic, should have planned properly.

Off to Vienna two weeks later when the semis are on. Even though Austria aren’t involved they’re footie mad enough to be showing it somewhere. We want to visit the summer stage – outdoor pop up restaurants and bars on the bank of the Danube – and it looks like they are going to be showing the footie. Win win.

I’ll be back for the Final and so will be #1 son. Let’s hope for a miracle ?

I use Parcel2Go to do the price / service comparisons and always get it picked up, anything small enough to carry would be going via RM anyway.

I recently sent two PCs (in one box) with increased compensation via Yodel XpressPack24 for £12.39. Both were smaller units but would have weighed in total about the same as a standard PC.
