I wouldn’t worry about it yet. Try it and see how it goes.

You could always dip into the UEFI and tweak the amount used if needed.

        Unfortunately another old CPU.

This one at Amazon is near as dammit the same as the other one I linked to. The CPU comparison is here.

The chipset will do dual monitor support but you may well need hdmi-dvi or similar.

I’d spend a bit more and get something like this.

Be far better in the long run, I’m sure others will chip in with even better ideas.

            That’s a really old CPU.

Just having a look to see if i can find anything for about the same £ but better.

I recently re-negotiated with Virgin for my cable broadband, first person I spoke to was a complete arse, refused to help and was only interested in getting a new contract out of me.

Spotted a rep at ASDA and had a word with him, nothing he could do for me-he is new signups only but he gave me his wifes number who works in retentions. One 5 minute phone call and job done, no annual increase for 2 years (if I stay for 2 years, 12 month contract only) and a £40 credit on my account.

Had yet another call and they now say that there’s nothing else they can do and the seller has to start a claim.

When I asked if the parcel had been stolen the woman tried to steer the conversation to how to claim. Hmmm.

I’m just glad I don’t have to deal with the problem anymore but I do feel for the seller which might have a long claim process ahead of them.

Nice try Ryan, the major wash jobs get done at mum’s place, it’s much easier with a hose and a drive.

Finally had a call back from a manager. They have no idea what’s happened to the parcel.

It was also let slip that the tracking system they use is isn’t what you might expect. Before the parcel is on a van and out for delivery the tracking has nothing to do with where the parcel actually is, it’s where the parcel is expected to be (OFC when it’s scanned it’s actually at that location). This explains why the app and website were reporting that my parcel was in Cardiff when it had never left the Hinckley depot. When the system fails it does so spectacularly.

Luckily for me the seller was superb and had already sent another item via UPS which arrived yesterday with no issues.

If you wash the car properly every month or so you should only need to rinse it and give it a polish in between , I’m almost sure it was you, Steve, that posted about that a while ago.

My car has been treated with Diamondbrite and it does help a lot. I hate a dirty car, drives me nuts. I was always washing my mothers car before i had mine, still do.

Since Friday I’ve put about 400 miles on the little Suzuki, 2 return trips to Bristol airport and lots of pottering about. That’s roughly 4 weeks worth of normal driving. It hasn’t missed a beat, fuel economy is up to 48 mpg (motorway driving helps a lot).

On the odd occasion I had to really nail the throttle on the motorway, the major one being the Renault Scenic towing a caravan about to jacknife in the inside lane when I was in the middle lane overtaking it (I did pull over at the next SOS point and report it), it responded far better than I expected.

It is of course it’s now stinking dirty. 2 young kids in the back and horrible weather mixed in with soot from lorries means I’ll be cleaning it either tomorrow or at mum’s place on Wednesday.

                          Still love it though.

Just got of the phone with DPD again!

I’ve been busy with my brother and his kids on a visit since Friday so no chance to get in touch with them until just now.

No contact from them over the weekend, despite what was promised on the phone Thursday.

This time I was told that the sender has to request help, not the receiver, a search was requested but nothing’s been done. Totally different from what I was told on Thursday.

Im currently waiting for a call back from a manager.

I can honestly say that I’ve not encountered a problem with a delivery like this for about 5 years, that was Yodel who used to be really shoddy around here. Even that was sorted way quicker than this.

Just got of the phone with them and the parcel is now officially missing.

They have to search 2 different hubs, international arrivals and Hinkley.

It hasn’t been seen since 3 am on the 3rd and their systems haven’t raised any flags which I find ludicrous in this age.

No further updates on the app or website. If it’s not waiting for me when I get home I may explode.

I’ve now had 3 phone calls, the first was from the depot at Hinckley and they said the parcel was at the Cardiff depot. Cardiff depot rang about 15 minutes after them and said it was at Hinckley! Hinckley then rang about half an hour ago and said it WAS there and will now be delivered by 10.30 am tomorrow. Nobody can explain what happened and why I was getting updates via the app and email when nothing was actually going on.?

What a fricking palaver! If it doesn’t turn up tomorrow I’m going to the Cardiff depot on Friday to raise hell.

No argument about that Ed but I didn’t want Windows, I wanted a Chromebook with Android support.

Got some cables from Amazon and they both work great, USB C to HDMI and a straight USB C to USB C.

The android app support is very good, some warn that they are designed for phones so might not scale well but overall they just work.  Only the PayPal one (so far) won’t even give you a chance to install it from the Play store, could probably side load it but I can’t be bothered as I rarely use it anyway. Haven’t tried many games yet, just one of the Angry Birds ones, no problems with that.

Netflix works great, Prime video, iPlayer and the CCTV app (side loaded as it’s no longer in the Play store) all work just fine.

I put the Chromebook into developer mode to enable side loading android apps, took about 30 minutes to reboot and have a think. Just as easy now as a phone or tablet with the ‘install from unknown sources’ enabled.  Slightly odd is you have to enable the Play store first, it’s switched off by default.

The only Chromebook I know of that supports a pen is the very expensive Samsung one.

Amazon are generally superb at customer relations. It’s cheaper for them to just say sorry and sort it out.
