Hope it’s a good ‘un
Anyone after a Moto G5, unlocked as new, screen saver and bumper case since day one, let me know. It’s now redundant, mum bagged my LG G5. Normally I’d keep it but it’s not mine to keep.
Ok, now I’m even more impressed.
The ‘reading mode’ is superb, better than my Kindle (granted, it’s a few years old) but it just works.
There’s a super safe section in the file manager app called Secure Box, needs a 6 digit pin, so you can store whatever you want securely in there. It warns you if you forget the pin, it’s gone for ever.
You can customize what the buttons do (physical and soft), long press/ short press and so on.
Only issue so far is even at the lowest volume setting the ringtone is loud. I’m sure I can sort that with an app.
Edit.
The Google assistant even understands me, half the time I don’t understand me!!
Yep, that’s the one.
The way you describe is how I keep my mum’s ‘disposable’ Win 10 laptop updated, one of the super cheap low spec jobs that she takes on holiday.
She can’t remember half her passwords so it’s easier that way, for me I just have to log in to Netflix and Amazon and it’s good to clear the crud out.
It’s all set up now and by heck it’s fast.
Love the little physical notification slider on the top left hand side, lets you choose between ‘normal’ ‘do not disturb’ and ‘vibrate’ without even unlocking the phone. The ability to show network speed in the status bar is a nice nerdy touch. The camera is very quick to respond and the shots look great, I’m aware that there’s an update due soon to improve the camera even more, which is nice.
The size is fine for me, feels really nice in the hand and not daft. If you have trews with small pockets it could be an issue.
One daft thing is that at the moment it can’t do Amazon Prime Video, Netflix or Google Play movies in HD (allegedly) due to not having the Widevine level 1 DRM. It’s coming in an update supposedly. I’ve just tried Netflix and Amazon Prime and they both look superb and no mention of a fix in the update log.
Battery life so far is great but of course it’s very early days.
I’m very impressed with it, well worth the money and makes the LG G5 feel clunky and old fashioned. Which it isn’t.
Another one for the MCT, I update my little Dell using that whenever there’s a big update. Nothing critical on it (tv box essentially) so it just has a wipe and reinstall of the latest Windows version.
Just setting up the monster now. So far it’s very impressive, face unlock works great ,about the only time having a wonky nose, lazy eye and lopsided ears is a bonus!, fingerprint scanner also works superbly and is exactly where it should be – on the back.
Love the fact it comes with a proper screen protector already in place and there’s a basic bumper case as well, the case is better than nothing but a sturdier one will be found, it’s really thin even for a bumper case.
I’ll report back when I’ve had more time with it, it’s totally unlocked and unbranded as suspected. Thanks O2 for honouring the balls up you made. ?
It’s nice but I’ll stick with my Android compatible Chromebook.
Hardly use my X220 anymore apart from DVD/CD ripping.
I’ve been lucky to have cable BB from the start in different locations. A few years ago before fibre to the cabinet it was reckoned to put at least £5k on the price of a house around here. Not so sure about that but houses with the capability certainly sold faster.
Just had torrential rain followed by 3 claps of thunder that shook the house. Lighting swiftly after and then hail that set off all the car alarms. Now it’s just drizzling and windy.
What BL said, I’ll be bed bound soon myself.
As usual on a Sunday mum picked me up (a few beers in the legion so no driving) and said she wasn’t going back the way she had come due to flooding.
That means going up a steep hill that once past the crest has 2 dips, each about 18 foot deep. Got to dip number one and there was bedlam. Water about 2 foot deep in it. People acting like idiots and trying to force each other out of the way to turn around.
Luckily I know the road very well, last year I transferred some supplies on my Fat Bike across the same area.
Told mum to just stick it in 2nd, not slip the clutch and keep the revs about 3k. Job done. Just. I actually got in the back and had the window down warning people that were heading towards the flood to turn around. One arrogant f**k wit in a BMZ Z4 told me to mind my own business. ?
Otherwise it’s been snow/rain/sleet. Got woken up about 4.30 am by a noise I’d never heard before so went investigating. Turned out it was the rain bouncing of my car, must be 30m or more from the bedroom .
I’ve seen a few of the new Wheeler Dealer episodes and they are still good. Granted not as good as when Ed was doing it but the new bloke needs to ‘settle in’.
More time needed.
I’m on Vitamin D, one of the side effects of my medication is a deficiency. I have one dose a month, when I was first prescribed it I was on a massive dose once a day for a month.
My car has a CD slot and a USB socket. Never used the CD apart from to check it worked before I bought the car.
My phone charges fine from the USB but won’t play any music, apparently it’s to new for the car so I might dig out a 2012 vintage Android phone and try it, just for the sake of it.
It’s no big deal as I have a flash drive in there and that works great. Steering wheel controls are a bonus.
Totally agree, if I was after one of these it’d be a ad based one. Bargain.
Wileyfox now offering pretty big discounts for lock screen ads. It’s not an always on feature, just when you wake the phone up.
BB8 and Force band. If you know what it is, it’s a steal at this price.
Nephews birthday present very sorted.
