Unless you need to squeeze every single bit of performance from your rig, go for the cheapest option.

If you do need every tiny bit of extra performance, stick with the 2*4 GB in slots 2 and 4.

I really doubt you’ll notice the difference unless benchmarking or super intensive gaming. Or willy waving.

Tweaking the RAM timing will probably gain you more performance than sticking with dual channel, unless that’s cheaper, if so it’s a win win situation.

Last time I had a car (before my recent Swift’s) I lived in a shared house, that had a car port which was just big enough to get my car, my mates and his Vespa in when parked carefully. That made a hell of a difference.

My problem would be getting a cover on and off, 2 years ago it would have been no problem, now with my arthritis giving me more and more issues it would kill me.

I’ll just pour boiling water over the windscreen. ?

My car had a very heavy frost on it this morning, it’s in the shade from about 3pm to 9am at this time of year. The front of the house can be freezing cold and the back baking hot.

I feel so sorry for you soft southerners – ‘ooop north’ where I live we have T shirts and shorts, generally we start to consider a ‘cardi’ in mid January dependent upon the volume of snow when we need to go out! ??????

At least this soft southerner can get 4G on his phone…..   ?

                I know what you mean.

I really like it but it’s very easy to get a bit pissed on them.

I have one or 2 about every other week.

Ed, yes you can. I have the same one and it’s set at a quite dim white. You can set it really bright if you want but that does my head in.

John, not used that phone combination but usually you go to settings, on the old phone, find the google section and drill down through the menus until you come to Set Up New Phone. Make sure the new phone has bluetooth on and is visible, they also need to be on the same WiFi network.  With some luck you’ll see a message on the old/ new phone confirming the connection.

Make sure both phones are well charged. It could take a few hours or a few minutes for the setup to transfer,   depending on how much data there is.

I went for a fresh phone this time so can’t help other than that.

Just been out to the car to refill my pound coin holder, it’s bloody freezing out there. The wind is evil, no rain or anything yet but it looks like it’s coming.

The G6 Dave linked to is what I’d be looking at for that kind of money.

Having said that if anyone wants a mint G5 that was used for about a week, let me know. Mum wanted to get rid off it not long ago so would probably let it go for a very nice price.

Bumper case arrived today, much happier carrying it around now.

                                      OnePlus 5T photo.

The 5T looks way darker, the actual lighting conditions were more like shown in the Mate 20 Pro photo for both. Very impressed with this phone.

Had some time with it now and I’m impressed.

It’s lightning fast, the in-screen fingerprint reader is very good, face detection is super quick and it mostly just works.

Had a few minor niggles, Waze wouldn’t work on Android Auto until I’d signed in twice, it just looked like it was crashing the car head unit. Home wifi also needed to be supplied with the pass twice, it worked fine until I put my SIM in and then it wouldn’t connect again. Forgot the network pass, logged on again, job done.

Have a tempered glass screen protector on it, was a bit dubious about it as the screen is edge to edge and curved, it fits perfectly. Bumper case should have arrived today but didn’t.

Just need to get my banking apps sorted and will be great, hoping to get some comparison photos with the 5T on Sunday.

Mines just arrived, setting it up now. Looks and feels really nice but that’s it so far.

                                          Claim form done as well.

Nothing to offer apart from good wishes for the future, whatever path you choose.

Unfortunately I’m hearing of this kind of thing more often than, say, 10 years ago.  Past 50/55, you’re seen as an expensive liability. Get youngsters in on zero hour contracts, less likely to become ill, deny them pension rights due to the zero hour contracts, it stinks.

I’d put MP’s on zero hours contracts, the law would soon change!!!!
