It’s not all doom and gloom, that evil, lying bitch McVey has resigned. And some others.
This just arrived. ?
Dan, I know what you mean about the battery, if you turn the power saving functions on it last for days and days.
I have had letters after appointments as well. Luckily the Cardiff And Vale NHS use a system of either an automated phone call or text message so you can confirm the appointment. That’s saved me missed appointments a few times this year alone.
My GP surgery also sends reminders by text the day before any appointments but I can also go online and log into my account with them and export any appointments to my Google Calendar. I think it also works with iOS and Windows calendar as well. This is really handy when using Android Auto on the very rare occasion I forget as it tells me I need to think about going to the appointment in XX minutes and also warns of the traffic delays if using Waze.
Always wanted something like that, no need for it as I don’t have that many tools anymore. No room for one either.
I can only hope the news is good Bob. ?
The rear wiper on my car has been winding me up for a few days, left a semicircle of dirt behind. No one else can see it but it bugs the hell out of me.
No problem I thought just buy a new one. Problem is no-one lists a rear wiper for a 2017 Swift. Fronts, no problem.
Then I had a brainwave, still had the old one from my 2012 Swift so I test fitted that to the 2017 Swift and it’s perfect. £6.16 and a 20 minute round trip to Euro Car Parts and a brand new Bosch H250 wiper fitted in under 2 minutes with knackered, sore hands. Halfords around the corner wanted £12.
I hardly use Windows these days, probably why my guess was a bit wide of the mark!
Could be the SATA cable or the SATA port playing silly buggers.
If you have spare ones swap them over, at least they are eliminated if the problem persists.
Ed/Bob that is a great idea – and don’t be selfish and keep it to the Midlands – I love reading your stories and they should get a wider audience.
Totally agree. I’m currently trying to get a near 80 year old to record his stories before his memory starts to fail. He has some amazing ones, was at school with John Lennon, used to drive for one of the F.A. bigwigs, knew Ken Dodd (his daughters have original Diddy Men) and also knew Jimmy Tarbuck. He also did national service in Cyprus when the crisis was happening and almost got killed by his own mates when a donkey strayed too close to the wire. There are more.
The Poppy Appeal always costs me a bit of money, usually £15+ over a couple of weeks as i always put something in the tin.
This year I’ve had to do things differently as I don’t always have cash on me and sometimes the collectors are in awkward (for me) places in the supermarkets. I put £20 in the Legion box and took a few badges and poppys. As I know the bloke that organizes the appeal this side of Cardiff and for most of Penarth I’ve had a car sticker in place for about 6 weeks and one of the larger, harder to get hold of 100 year commemorative badges for about the same amount of time. Can’t recall what I gave for them, I’d had a few Guinness.
Nobody should be made to wear a Poppy, just kicked in the plums if they don’t. ?
Just had a text from Huawei, my claim has been validated so I just have to wait for my freebies to turn up now. ?
That’s an interesting read Ed, thanks.
I’ve always been of the opinion that for a curse to work you have to believe in it, it then sets the seed in your mind that something is going to happen and you then worry about it, which makes you more susceptible to illness. Also you probably aren’t paying attention properly which makes accidents more likely.
I found this article a little while ago, it makes sense to me and might explain why I can tolerate a lot of pain which is handy right now.
I’d say £40 sounds like a deal.
Don’t know about ‘recent’ AOC monitors but I’ve got an ancient 19″ (IIRC), might be bigger, AOC CRT which weighs a ton and is huge. It still works and the colours are still near as dammit spot on.
If we have another nuclear war along with the cockroaches there will be that monitor, still working along with my X220 Thinkpad.
Tried out the 240 fps super slow motion today on an airplane, really impressive.
Also tried out the 5X zoom, again I’m impressed.
The ship was just a faintly visible blob.
No problem Bob.
I also had one from HSBC, a text message, saying my account had been locked. A link in the text to reset the relevant details.
Knew it was a scam from the start, I have an account with a HSBC spin off. Just logged in to my account as usual, no problems.
Just bust out the supplied USB C earbuds as the fireworks are doing my head in. I hate headphones/ earbuds but I might change my mind soon. So clear and crisp, lots of little bits in the background I’ve never noticed before. For reference it’s currently Queen Greatest Hits 2.
I’m using them on my Chromebook as I can charge and plug them in at the same time, minimum volume is louder than I’d like but at least it drowns out the rsoles.
Edit.
They also don’t fall out of my awkward ear holes. So far anyway, that’s a first for me.
Bob, one of the highest power drains on a mobile when it’s not actively being used is searching for a signal. That would explain the new battery power drain.
Glad you’re happy JCD.
