Ed, I kind of agree with your statement ‘most elderly drivers know their limits and ease off on the pedal’ but I’ve seen so many near misses because of old folk. Common one round here is a national speed limit zone and people doing 30 in what sounds like 1st gear, engine screaming away. They get to the 20mph zone and do about 35 mph through it even when the kids are coming out of school. ?

I’m NOT saying that all old people are crap at driving but for the vast majority of people as you get older your reflexes slow.

I also am aware of a fair few people of pension age that still think it’s fine to have 6 pints and drive home. ‘I wouldn’t drive if I didn’t feel able to’ is a common quote. And I have reported  them. Different era. Won’t change, Prince Phillip could be the poster boy for that era.

Les, is that for me or Ed, or both?

Uncharitable, no. He’s already been spotted driving his new motor without a seatbelt on.

The new motor was delivered yesterday. Without his status that wouldn’t happen to anyone else unless you paid many times over the odds for it.Very doubtful then. The logistics are complex.

Of course the police are ‘investigating’. They aren’t going to say publicly that they aren’t doing 2/10ths of bugger all.

I really hope I’m wrong on this one but I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some false flag terror alert/attack quite soon to make this all go away.

Totally agree Ed. A few million well spent in their eyes.

From a quick read of the link posted by Ed above the liability still exists though.

How much would the Kia driver take to keep schtum I wonder? More importantly how much would the injured lady take?

If I was in that position I’d be after a LOT of £ and negotiating with news agencies just in case.

It was in my news feed, it was a small paper reporting on it. It said that it was the gits fault. OFC I can’t find the report now as it’s probably been pulled or ‘lost’.

Nothing will happen about it because of who he is, everyone must know that.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if in a few months there’s a not very well publicised statement released stating that he’s quit driving.

                    Thanks JCD.

The GP did mention an MRI but also said that it was x-ray first, additional tests on my next bloods (2 weeks to go) and him contacting my rheumatologist for any insight he may have.

Down here it’s all ‘this step first, then that one’ no jumping to the sensible options.

I saw the GP today, appointment booked a little while back.

Just as well as on Sunday my right shoulder let off an almighty crack that had me lying on the floor in total agony. It does this periodically but nothing like the one on Sunday for over a year. My left shoulder also does it but nowhere near as bad as my right one.

GP reckons it could well be the arthritis but need to arrange an x-ray. ?

Went to a Stress Control course today, met my Autism support worker there.

All I can say is it bloody better work, not been that stressed in years. I get stressed easily. 95 minute panic attack, which apparently is very unlikely.

If I could walk I’d have been out of there in seconds. Lots of big women congratulating each other on making it through the door. Loudly. And they were late. Very late. 2 of them bought lunch in, a takeaway, oriental, very pungent. And they reeked of strong tobacco.

If you’ve ever seen the I.T Crowd episode Calamity Jen, the people holding the course were very close to being like the stress expert in the episode.

My autism support worker reckons  that about 50% won’t bother with the next week, let alone completing the 6 week course. I hope she’s correct.

I’m not surprised at all. I had a click and collect order of a cheap, big buttoned mobile for a friend of my mothers, SIM free, unlocked, as shown on the email confirmation.

Got to the shop and picked the order up, wrong phone, SIM locked to O2 and rude staff. For once I was glad I am knackered as I would have raised hell in that shop. First Direct were superb, money back in my account within 4 hours. Put a complaint in with Currys/Pc World, not heard anything. I tell everyone to avoid them now.

Sunday morning I took this photo, the land has had many planning applications over the years, 2 were actually passed only to be dissolved due to blatant bungs to council members. They ‘resigned’. No criminal charges were ever made, of course.

The latest attempt was thrown out about 10 weeks ago after the ‘impact on the village and wildlife’ was ripped to shreds by many people, myself included (I emailed the bloke who was heading up the group opposing the development on safety grounds). There were many blatant lies, my favourite is probably ‘ no impact on reptiles or small mammals, birds or any other wildlife’. Bottom of the planning application in a tiny font ‘no wildlife survey completed’.  I know for a fact that there are rare reptiles over in the field, last time I was there (4 years maybe) I saw 2 adders and some slow worms.

Another good one was ‘no impact on traffic or village amenities.’ 60 flats, 90 car parking spaces and they would be joining a very busy main road, used by ambulances and other emergency services.  The local primary school is over subscribed as is.

Not even the corrupt council could pass that planning application.

I’m seeing the GP next week (thank whichever deity you wish, or not, for online appointment checking and booking) so I may well bug him about that. Thanks.

Glad it went O.K. with the wife.

Richard, I also have joint hypermobility. My hands used to be extremely flexible, probably still are but the pain stops me finding out. I also suffer from it in my other joints but my wrists are very bad now, they dislocate daily. I don’t worry about it as it’s a stab of pain and they are back in place and working as normal.

I’m waiting on a more comprehensive blood test result, either tomorrow or wednesday, since my change over to injections of methotrexate. The phlebotomist insisted on me waiting for 15 minutes after she drew blood as it was a lot of blood taken.

Went to see the Chronic Pain Management people today. Waste of my time and theirs.

The doctor was baffled why I was referred to them as on reading my notes anything that the NHS could offer has been tried, except an exercise referral which is done by the GP anyway.  Not amused.

Near the end of my mother’s cul de sac they built a new housing estate about 7 years ago, mostly ‘executive’ but some smaller and ‘social housing’ tucked away in a corner down the bottom. Social housing is the only reason planning permission was granted (apart from brown envelopes passed under the table).  The people in the village were stunned as there is a ravine, japanese knotweed, and a old tunnel from when there was a quarry which has been knackered since the mid 60’s to early 70’s.

The ravine wasn’t filled properly, the knotweed wasn’t removed properly (uncovered lorries going up and down the A4232 and  then M4) and the tunnel filled with old bricks.

No surprise that 3  of the £600,000+ houses had the foundations shift, another £400,000 odd one had the drains collapse and one has been underpinned 3 times to my knowledge. The last house has been ‘bought’ 5 times in 7 years, all by shill companies of the developer. No actual person has ever owned that house.

If anyone fancies giving Smarty a go drop me a PM, I now have a referral link which will give 2 months free to the new customer and I’ll get a month free as well.

Just activated the SIM and put the PAC request in, all very easy so far, the dashboard also gives a very accurate reading of how much data I have left after checking the speed, 1.97 GB.

I got knackered putting up a new blind in mum’s spare room not long ago, took about 3 hours in total, non-ruined me would have done it and had been starting a beer in 30 minutes.
