i paid approx £380 for the yamaha rxv681, £275 i think for the canton movie 75, approx £33 for the speaker cable.
decent bit over budget but i didnt get much pushback from the wife so went for it.
it sounds good but i’m a bit confused about all the different surround sounds. although it mentioned all the methods of SS it COULD use, i thought it was pretty automatic and simply matched the source material???
it is connected via ethernet which i agee gives me confidence over wifi.
hi all
i spent about £700 in all.
LG 4k hdr tv for the bedroom, 43 inch so bit big but reduced to £379.
Kenwood mixer rrp £400 odd, usual amazon price over £180, reduced to £118
Harmony elite well over £200 usually, reduced to £113 i think
and a few bits. i also think i have a problem
I bought the yamaha rxv681 and canton movie 75 speakers.
Any suggestions or advice?
so i got my shaver for fathers day.
it does take quite a few passes to get some of the hairs but overall it is almsot as close as a wet shave and less irritation. so, i’m happy
an update on the psvr.
it is awesome. i was concerned it wouldnt be as good as the demo we had had on the htc vive but it is ace.
we’ve bought and been playing –
resi evil 7
rush of blood
farpoint
vr worlds
job simulator
playroom vr (free)
the move controllers are more accurate than i thought
it’s a bit awkward sometimes trying to get the perfect sharpness of image but a bit of messing with the headset up/down and left/right gets it there usually
right, i think i have now got approx £500 for AV receiver and speakers. (not inc the cable and connections)
someone on the av forum suggested paying double or even treble that spent on the receiver for the speakers. so with my budget (which i dont think is TOO small) that would mean only spending between £165 and £120 approx for a receiver which is surely too low.
i was thinking of the opposite. spending high (ish) on the receiver, about £350 for the yamaha rxv681 and about £150 for the speakers such as either the yamaha nsp40 or denon sys2020. at least then i will still hear a huge improvement over my £100 soundbar and i can then upgrade the speakers at a later date while the receiver will be fine for quite a while.
any thoughts?
Cheers guys
Only problem with some of those suggestions, he has no internet. Due to being a 6 month rental agreement that he doesn’t think he’ll be renewing he never got it done. Also, the data signal isn’t great.
Do any of the Android apps save to device or are they all for remote viewing?
Thanks all
Looks like it doesn’t last much longer when doing motion detection. I don’t think it’s designed for what you want to do.
cheers dave. as i say, i’m not confident i am getting it into motion detection mode as when i check back the footage it is just continuous 5 minute segments
Forgot to say that I can work it fine for continuous recording but that would run down the battery and fill the sd too quickly.
Also, I’ve followed the better instructions on the amazon uk review but still must be doing something wrong
I found this guide to placing speakers a little while back: https://www.howtogeek.com/137896/how-to-place-your-speakers-to-maximize-your-home-theater-experience/
cheers tippon. an interesting read. i’ll keep that to hand ready.
any specific 5.1 speaker recommendations you’ve come across?
i’ve now also been directed to the yamaha rxv481 as a decent ‘inbetween’. any thoughts?
speakers wise i am leaning towards either the yamaha nsp40 or the denon sys-5.1. both on amazon uk. both approx £150. again, any thoughts appreciated
marc
thanks all
as soon as funds allow (when i get the missus to agree it would be a good idea ; ) ) i will get the av receiver. poss the rxv381 or even 581.
any advice regarding set up, usage of the system i.e what needs to be turned on, switched over etc when using different devices, etc?
thanks, marc
i have the pro so hopefully it will be awesome. my sons will be so excited when they see it arrive
If you have an aerial, you could get free view box. Usually cheaper as there is more choice. There is nothing between free view and free sat. Saves buying and hanging a dish.
cheers mate. it seems to suggest something like 60+ channels for freeview (they have freeview built in to their tv anyway) and 200+ channels for freesat. i think that plenty are radio but so would freeview i believe.
these are the front runners i think after showing them their options
and
cheers mate.
they are the same price at currys and amazon so i would usually get it from amazon due to the prime and easy returns.
the would use the recording abilities a little so i think it would be worth the extra.
cheers guys.
they may be willing to stretch to the humax freesat. the old sky dish has been unused for maybe 10 years and he thinks he may have snipped the cable so maybe a new dish and cables will be needed.
can they use the old sky dish still attached? it’s been unused for ages and i’m not sure if the cables are even still attached.
hey guys
i received the braun 5040. need to wait for father’s day before i can use it so will post my findings then.
Hi guys.
Woke up to an Amazon email regarding discounts and low and behold the braun 5040 had been reduced to less than £60. Less than the lower 3 series. I think it is usually closer to £100 so I’ve ordered that.
Good timing that one
