Well it froze once but that’s before i replaced the two ethernets with two new cat 8 cables. Now hopefully it’s as solid as it can get.
Cheers mate
He’s responded saying it’s impossible for the electric to come through plastic to which I’ve said if there is even the slightest gap it would and he’ll see for himself when he gets it back.
I messaged the seller and he said i should do a reinstall and if that didn’t sort it it could be a physical issue he’d either get fixed or replaced it. Reinstall didn’t sort it.
However, when i was about to plug it in i got a small shock from the charger plug and then while it was then plugged in i then got a bit of a shock from the actual laptop case in the corner. Scary. So i have messaged the seller again and I’m awaiting a response.
Cheers ed. Not so much i would want that form factor but being touch screen sounds nice and for £199 i didn’t think I’d get much more for the money.
I think it’s that the specs are decent and it’s touch screen too. Not bad in price either.
Cheers Dave
Having a bit of a look around i found this on eBay, with 100% seller feedback
Refurbished Touch Screen Laptop Windows 10 Pro Lenovo Yogo Core i5-4300U 8Gb
£199, what do you think?
Thanks all.
The PC shop said yes, it’s the mobo.
I’ll sell it on eBay as faulty and mention it could be the mobo. If i get anything for it that will help.
Now, as my son’s had thought they were getting their own PC i might get a cheap used laptop for their bedroom instead. It would be good to be touch screen but that might be asking a bit much.
Any suggestions?
Cheers all
Just dropped it into a pc repair shop who said if they can’t fix it, no charge. if the only way to fix it is a new mobo then they recommended not to spend the money and they wouldn’t charge. Only if it is simpler like the OS would they sort it and charge me. So they will be playing around with the OS.
Are they right that the mobo would either have to be a used part that could have the same issue or a part from China and not worth buying?
Sh** man. Anyway of getting that confirmed apart from obviously putting a new one in?
What sort of cost for that type of thing in an AIO?
i have put a new stick of RAM in incase but no better. the main error coming up being BAD SYSTEM CONFIG INFO.
i have installed the old HDD back but that wont even bsod it just stays in a boot loop.
Could it be bad RAM? Unfortunately i don’t have any to test and I’m reluctant to buy a stick to then find out it didn’t help.
I’ve just opened it up to see any obvious signs of liquid damage but there was none. Bit of dust i blew away. No burn marks. I took the money module out, no issue and reinstalled in the other slot.
None of this helped. I’m lost now, can’t think what else to do and I’m not good enough with this stuff to know what to do next.
Sick of it. Spent money on the drive, no better.
Got my new ssd and installed it. Downloaded Windows 10 to usb drive and installed. Then cortana starts setting things up and another bsod. Restarted, another bsod so it wasn’t the drive.
However, even with drivers surely none had the chance to impact it much at that stage???
Cheers all
I’ll let you know how it goes.
Cheers Dave
I guess there isn’t as many options for 320gb. I’m sure 240gb will be enough mainly for just Windows 10.
Cheers guys.
Dave, i think that second one you linked might be fine. So would the other but it’s more expensive.
Any suggestions from anyone for a good cheap SSD, maybe £30 approx
Cheers guys
Dave – this one doesn’t need screws at all. The drive goes into the screw holes via pins and the caddy clips into the space. Also, the connector is on a short cable instead of being rigid.
I’ll try to show a picture of the caddy.
Ed – if it then had the issue, at least then i can install an updated Intel driver if that’s it but on to the SSD.
Will i need any drivers to even get started like you’d get on a new installation disc?
Cheers Ed.
I’ve decided if I’m keeping it i may as well shove an SSD in now.
Just not sure on the ssd >adaptor >caddy situation mentioned above and also which is best value for 240 – 320gb.
Thanks mate
Yep, as it seems that updating the drivers still doesn’t resolve it for everyone, I’d rather do the ssd upgrade if possible and a fresh install.
