        Jolly Good it activated.

It doesn’t hurt to dabble and tinker to sort it out, it shows it’s still alive.

        Cheers

Support has ended for XP meaning no more new stuff, I was sure you could still update the 128
just couldn’t remember (the path) how to get their, you found the path Monkey.

I stopped using XP after suggestions on here.

I won’t be re trying XP, now that my stuff still works, I am not as amazed as Ed but great stuff.

At least you achieved full filling your original ambition Monkey, to connect to the internet.

Not sure about activation, I may recall M$ no longer accept activation with XP, via the internet.
As for phoning they may say no more.

            Cheers
            John

. I will not say that John’s collection of files will not work, but I’ll be amazed if they do!

They have always worked for me, last used this year.

I am tempted to install XP (on rig 2) to see how far I get.

Not sure if it can see SSD though.

              Cheers

As for connecting to M$ you may need to search Windows XP update agent and see what’s available.

Some programs (you may install) rely on net stuff and won’t install. I have always installed the net stuff on each XP install just incase.

                Cheers

                  Other stuff with IE8

I am thinking you are on a rig to get to this thread, maybe not and you are on your mobile?

If you can’t get it, I can burn it to CD and post them to you.

I was thinking download would of been quicker

                    Cheers

It’s not an ISO they are standard files in a standard folder with executables.

At the moment you only have a link for SP3 and it’s 546mb you would double click
on the WINDOWSXP-KB936929-SP3-X86-ENU Application to open.

This is in a folder named SP3

s it’s bigger than 500mb you could create a folder on your XP rig (name it SP3), then copy parts out my SP3 folder (once Downloaded) bits at a time onto your USB and copy the bits to your new folder.

eg: Copy WINDOWSXP-KB936929-SP3-X86-ENU Application (it’s only 316mb) to your XP3 folder.

Then delete it off your USB and copy the rest out my SP3.

Or burn it to a CD/DVD

Once that’s done I will send a lik for IE8

IE8 is 16mb self extracting file (double Click) I think it takes files off the net (to my knowledge it still does)

                      Cheers

To get on the internet you need IE8, I have put SP3 on cloud if you can download it, IE8 is also there.

                        We’ll start with SP3

Its uploading maybe wait till tomorrow

                        Cheers

Thanks all for the continued sugestions.

It was an online application, I hesitated but entered my phone number. I had barely finished submitting and they phoned me.

I won’t sign and will bin the forms.

Bob I feel for you at least your on track, I once had a house repossessed and ended somewhere (council) you wouldn’t want to live. Fortunatally someone exchanged with us.

                          Cheers

                            Thanks Ed

I won’t sign, I certainly don’t know what I am doing. They gotten hold of me, time to let go.

Lee I am glad you had a second glance.

Thanks Dave not sure if it possible to continue (read on)

It’s a little dodgy to continue.

Ed are you saying, (as they said they will send forms for me to fill and sign) I am now commited.

Since 1st post I have searched a little more and found as you did Bob they take a cut of any you get back,
that does over ride free, but then it’s a free check.

Tippon I had a look on MSE (money saving expert) and also asked on the forum.

I think 1 or 2 on here may know (I forgot to say in this thread) I am bankrupt.

MSE say I can’t claim PPI for any PPI paid, before bankruptcy.

I just hope I haven’t done the wrong thing (starting with the PPI Free Check).
I should have asked (on here) before filling in the online form with the PPI checker

                              Cheers

Thanks all, so it’s more the 32-64bit than the OS name

                                and also the hardware combination.
