….all the weather is two months behind where it should be.
I was saying this to a friend yesterday – it seems that the ‘March winds and April showers’ have become squatters in May…../June??!!
I’m also just starting some work on our lawns that I put off. I just bought an electric scarifier, planning some drastic moss removal and treating, followed by some seeding. I had held off through April because of the risk of frost to the new seeds and exposed roots.
We’re probably 5 or more degrees down on the May average temperature even now, approaching June!! Who knows what weather we’ll have on Wimbledon fortnight, this year – they’re at 25% capacity, hoping for more mid-June. Some people are advertising tickets with a money back guarantee.
However talk of an Indian Summer for the UK come October time will not go down well as India seems to be having a torrid time of it at the moment – ironic really as it is a huge vaccine producer. Even when it ( selfishly, but understandably ) hangs on to what it produces, that doesn’t seem to be resolving the problem. You wonder what it will take to prevent some form of a semi wipe out scenario.😒
I think it would be entertaining if it was made known that a Post-Scoxit Houses of Parliament would only admit English/Welsh or Northern Ireland citizens as MP’s – any Scottish citizens would have to make do with Holyrood.
It would make a pleasant change as we’ve had to put up with Scottish accented ire/pontification/condescension ( and occasional ineptitude ) for decades!!
Of course, if you have a blender, you could whip up some soups and broths yourself, but they would need to be well mixed to help with chewing.
That’s what we did with our son – we never bought a jar of baby food for him. Whatever we were eating, he had a portion of, blended with gravy if it was a main, or yoghurt/custard with stewed fruit for a dessert. That blender, a pressure cooker and a slow cooker were essential bits of kitchen equipment for us as we were both working.
Anne’s younger sister ( by 15 years ) came to stay with us one time and it took a call to her GP to persuade her that it was ok to feed that to her baby. We also showed her that she didn’t need to pay for nappies when terry nappies and liners did the trick – but convenience won her back when she returned home. It never ceases to amaze me when people say how poor they are, but spend money indiscriminately on things like packets of nappies, convenience foods and similar wastes of money.
When we bought our first maisonette we would buy jumbo packs of frozen mince and on a Sunday we would cook and freeze various versions of it for during the week. Home made burgers or meatballs – mince, shredded mushrooms, onion and breadcrumbs, a bolognese sauce for either spag bol or jacket potatoes, a shepherds pie or anything else to see us through.
Pleased to hear you’re still in situ, Lee. 👍 There’s nothing worse than an abscess because you can’t get to it, and even eating is painful, so you tend to stop, and then feel worse!! Soup is the best solution, especially the Big Soup style ones which are like a casserole – they can be mashed before cooking to make them easier to digest with minimum chewing.
Good luck with the review – stay strong.
Have you tried Googling the mobile number that she used?? I do that on suspect calls that I get on the landline ( double checking the Call Blocker that we use ) – it sounds like the list from the vaccine centre had been hacked, and they are aware of it, but, as you say, to what purpose??
Just booked our second jab for tomorrow. Saga had a 600 staff call centre near our local large shopping centre which has been empty since they all started working from home and is now up for sale. They have set up a mass vaccination centre there which has been doing wonders.👍
He was a great laugh – served him flowers for many years – loved his sunflowers!! Very pleasant, no airs or graces, would just stop by and chat, he was as irreverent in general conversation as he was on his shows, we had a good few chuckles over the years. Was very sad when he passed – one of life’s good guys.
not ideal as I have my second vaccination at 12.30 and the vaccination centre car park is tight.
Chasing up the second AZ jab for the wife and myself – I’m really waiting for “full coverage” so we can get on with life again!!
I’m picking up 9 am Wednesday. not ideal as I have my second vaccination at 12.30 and the vaccination centre car park is tight. Otherwise it was Friday. That ain’t going to happen.
That’ll give you a chance to play with some of the new gadgets!! Stay safe and drive safe!!👍👍
The Eye Hospital signed me off last week and the heart team hope to by the end of March, so cross fingers!
Good luck, Dave – here’s hoping!!🤞🤞
Excellent, well done. 👍👍 The Model Line page I looked up had the white one, front and centre and it looked very crisp. Mum will be able to get you some valeting tokens as presents now.😊 Cars do look good in white but need washing at very frequent intervals.
Is it taller than the Suzuki, making it easier to get in and out of?? That makes a big difference as bones get older!!😊
Monetary policy just makes your head explode.
A little bit like the ‘Futures Market’ making money off things that either don’t yet exist or haven’t happened yet, and don’t even get me started on Bitcoin!!
I have another RC toy arriving within the hour. 🙂
I must be psychic!!! Whenever I say that to the wife, she tells me I missed a bit in the middle out ( iatr ), don’t know what she means!!😂
Enjoy!!
Sounds good. By the time you’ve sold the Suzuki, paid off the loan, your up front cost and got your brand new Puma, I see lots of new RC projects coming your way.😊
Well done on the PIP success!!
Motability seems the way to go – brand new model and running costs covered is almost a no-brainer, just restricted by limited choice!! Good luck with the hunt.👍
Watching the interview, after Harry joined her, I thought they said that there was some nuance around that ‘right’ and there may well be some rule changing to exclude them. That’s from memory and not detail – I’ll check back on it later.
…..but also they are friends of Oprah Winfrey, and it would have been surprising if Oprah had not used that relationship to get a ratings-busting interview.
That’s true – but on a side note – I know we’re all having problems not being able to get a haircut, what had Oprah done with hers/what the hell was she wearing?? The amount of volume in that hair would put a heavy metal concert to shame!!!
If they just wanted a quiet life away from the royalty why all this to make themselves the centre of a media storm.
Likely, no more money from Mum, so they have to earn it themselves!!
She was born in 1981, a teenager in the Diana/Fergie era, ( events were still widely reported in America ) so she cannot have been unaware of the perils of marrying in to the British Royal Family. I won’t say she brought it on herself, but she fell for the dream and ignored the history and the reality.
The currently hospitalised Royal is so obviously the source of the ‘skin’ comment!! He came from an era when “..a touch of the tar brush” was almost a standard expression for someone of mixed race. “Coffee and Cream” being the politer, but just as non-PC version.
The confiscation of wallet, car keys, passport etc is imaginable, but only matters if you allow it!!
It seems that Harry expected Charles to be a lot more supportive, and feels let down by his inaction, but even that should have come as no surprise after Diana.
It all reeks of dirty linen aired in public, but if she feels that is her only way of resolving the problems, so be it. The great British unwashed however have an appetite for scandal ( particularly Royal/toffs/upper class ) and it will consume many column inches and sell many more
paperstabloid rags. The ‘journalists’ even tried to squeeze it into the Coronavirus Briefing today, as if there weren’t enough other questions that could/should have taken priority. Boris did an excellent job of elbowing them into the side-lines.
Hi Lee, I know you’ve been tinkering and I’ve just noticed something weird. I’ve just posted in “Edison strikes again”, I quoted from Bob’s post ( #67799 ) and I’ve now received an email telling me that I’ve posted it!! The email came from admin@forumite so I also replied to that box with it for you to see.
Cheers.
