German Shepherd Dog. ( otherwise known as Alsatian, )
Two more loud snorers are Pugs and French Bulldogs. Same problem – no snout!!
I know what you mean about the runt, one of the French Bulldogs we have is the same. She has digestive problems and looks like she’s starved. So much so the owner gets dirty looks and nasty comments when she takes her for walks. ( Some people are just idiots!! ) The problem is she eats her food so fast, she used to chuck it straight back up – this is improved with a slowdown bowl where the food sits in a “maze” inside the bowl, so she scoops it out gradually with her tongue, rather than scoffing it in mouth-fulls. But she still needs four smaller meals a day, or it overloads her tummy. :negative:
Early on when we started the dogs, we had a GSD pup. The wife thought she was ill she was so quiet. She just mooched around, no mad playful puppy stuff!! It turned out she was only 6 weeks old and had been taken from her mum too early. I dealt with this by having her on my lap to comfort her, while sitting at the computer, which was out in the conservatory at the time. 5 years later, if she’s in the same room, or if I’m sitting out in the garden, she still tries to get back on my lap.
The main reason we have Sky TV is because whatever we have has to be SWMBO friendly – ie simple to use and simple to re-set when playing up. They really do have the PVR interface sewn up in that regard, plus it’s all in one package.
We do have Prime Video, it’s worth the overall cost for the odd series that they’ve done – Bosch was a good example of that – plus the Prime postage and kindle books etc.
We also have a NowTV account, which we use for Sky Cinema access, but both of these are only watched when I’m there as SWMBO couldn’t manage ( or likely remember ) all the neccessary TV input changes or the associated remote button combinations, to cope, and that’s when it’s all working properly!! For the non-technically minded, Sky have it off pat. Throw in the need for sub-titles and it’s almost a given.
Don’t even think about streaming to the TV because there’s even times I have problems with that!!:)
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a Murdoch lover, quite the opposite in fact. I worked at the back of Fleet Street through the 80’s and drank in the local pubs, so knew a lot of the workers there that lost their jobs following the dispute. To this day I won’t have a copy of the Sun, nor the News of the Screws when it was still runniong, in our house.
But simple works, and that’s where he beats the opposition.Regarding the F1, I hope that the races don’t become spectacles. Carey has said he’d like to see 20 “Superbowls”, which I think would be a step too far. The whole thing has always been about cutting edge performance and driving to the limits and beyond. Everyday driving has become safer ( and faster ) because of what has flowed from F1 to Joe Public’s cars. As Dave says, it would be nice for the smaller teams to be able to play ( and stay playing ) against the big boys, after all, that how Lotus got to where they are today. A great deal of technology was developed for F1, and these days Formula E, that has gone to make modern motoring what it is, and leagues apart from the cars I started driving in.
On the positive side, maybe we’ll see a few more names from Stateside involved in the cars that aren’t so Euro/Japanese-centric, although when they dropped the big V8/V6 power units for super/turbo charged small units the races became “tighter” as they were all on a level BHP quota.
Exciting times ahead.Just had a thought – are we able to PM now? D2
It’s under Activity/Messages/Compose.
My sister went to Bangor ( UCNW it was then ), in the early to mid 70’s. She did a BA in Modern Languages there and although she may not have wanted “translation” it stood her in good stead between jobs initially, between kids after, then between writing books. She had various jobs as for example, tour guide around London, filling in at a translation bureau including scientific documents. Her husband at the time was high up in the research/development field. There are numerous permutations that make the boring translation aspect come to life, so don’t let her write it off without some lateral thinking.
Good luck to her.
His Tweets seem to form part of the news these days, so he’d be highly likely to see an “amended” version and recognise it as not one of his!! He might then go all “Apprentice” and start firing his team!! Don’t think they’ll risk it!!
I bought this off ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252542372484 at 10pm Saturday evening and it turned up by Amazon courier noon next day.
I wonder if that’s Jason?
He might be a canny old dog, but I don’t think he’s a GiftHound. Isn’t Jason located around Burton, not Birmingham. It’s near, but not that close.
It seems some of the script-writers in America got things wrong as well as the pollsters.
I have just been watching last night’s episode of Homeland. They find themselves in the situation with a ” Madam President Elect”, waiting for a Jan 20th Inauguration!! :yahoo:
Or maybe that was wishful thinking on their behalf. Or it made for some better plot lines – although the ones coming out of Washington at the moment, and possibly in the future, will likely lead to a WTF reaction.
John – aren’t you likely to get a bit confused if you have three profiles on here?? – johnbarry, jb and fallguy??
I think Trump will be sandboxed. ……..
Would that be as in ” Send him to the Middle East and let them put him in a box!!??”
I’ve just looked at the page – I have the option to add a Sig, or change my name. I tried both ways, clicked on the “Howdy” and clicked on “Edit my Profile”, also from Activity drop down menu, clicked on Profile, then on the Edit tab. Strange. It’s not like you’re a recent joiner either.
I was on it not half hour ago. It’s showing a 404 not found from my bookmark…………..- that’s because it was bm’d to the latest replies page. The normal url gets re-directed.
Edit – I almost shed a tear as I deleted the bookmark. 😥
You haven’t mentioned whether the GF is happy to move to Manchester,……………… or are you really setting up for a change??
You could always, with best advice from professionals, rent out current house, mortgage company permitting, and that could easily pay to rent in Manchester plus change to spare!! Or pay some more off your current mortgage ( again, with best advice).
Just a thought – would it be practical for an explanation message to be displayed on the page that anybody will see when re-directed?? Just so they know what has occurred and why they are here.
Along the lines of:-
You have been re-directed to Forumite from forum.micromart.co.uk as that Forum, like the magazine, has now closed. Here you will find a gathering of folk from MM forum, and you may even recognise some names!!
Ohhhhhh, that again!!
Might be best to reply to Jason on his MM post, while you still can. Maybe he can fill in the blanks, or reply to whoever has passed the info to him.
Someone should inform the Social Services about this abusive parent.
?
That’s not abuse – it’s necessary and justifiable mean-ness!! 🙂 Come on Bob, you know, like the rest of us, you’ve been there!!
If you go through the members list there are a couple that show links – one property and the other for something else. This could be a way of keeping it “clean”.
Cheers Lee – good to see you. Switching can be a real pain in the proverbial!!.
I’ll bet he’ll have a pair of cutters in his rucksack for future needs!! :yahoo:
