I’ve got the Sunday Politics recorded for later viewing so I’ll love that one!!:D {searching for Psycho dagger Emoji}
Is there any way to run a “Nicola Sturgeon” blocker on the photo news from the Beeb?? That woman gets me wound up like you wouldn’t believe!!
I could not find the ‘cynical’ emoji!
No – it’s not there, neither is the sarcasm emoji. Did we get the free version??? Damn, can’t find the p*sstaking or wind-up emoji!!
Thanks Dave – I was running off memory and my Google search gave me NTLite. I remember ninite now and I’ll check it out for making an instant re-load. ( Edit – just checked and the only ones it does are FF, Chrome,Thunderbird and Malwarebytes and Foxit. Not all of them, but a start.?)
I’ll also clone the SSD when it’s set up. Belt and braces, as they say.:) :good:
Cheers
Well – I’ve joined the Insiders Club and created a bootable USB with W10 Home Creators Update. :good:
If I wanted to add a bunch of programmes to the USB drive that would load onto the SSD at the same time as W10, what do I need to download?? Do I need an .exe file, an .iso or which?? It’s mainly for loading browsers, Thunderbird, Acronis, Kaspersky, Malwarebytes, Office and a PDF reader onto the SSD. All other programmes, the ones where the speed difference is less relevant, or wouldn’t be noticed, would go on the spinner.
A quick bit of research has got me to NTLite – does anybody have any experience – positive or negative – on this or its’ suitability for what I need.
Edit – Thanks Graham, I will. I’m not interested in going cutting edge or being a beta tester for them, I just wanted access to the Creators Update, which it seems is only available through the Insider.
The Amazon tech specs are always space. With anything technical always Google the item before you buy. I equate it to buying of argos or curries etc site. They never have the details you or I would want see. Just the “headline” specs.
Very true. If I’m looking at phones, I’ve found GSMArena are great for comparisons. :good:
It takes a while for the installer to catch up. What I do on a fresh install is install whatever version the media creator is at (usually quite quick on an SSD) and then run the Update Assistant straight away. If you’re having problems with the Update Assistant crashing out that indicates some fundamental issues in your Windows installation. I’ve had this a few times and you can either go down the clean install & update or try a reset & update. I’ve found reset & update does do the same job, probably because that’s what it’s meant to ? The good thing about reset is no need to download the media creator ISO first.
Hi Dave – thanks for that – I’ve just checked the Reset and Update option and that keeps my personal files – Docs, Photos,Videos etc – but nukes all my programmes and settings. If it’s going to do that, I think my best route will be to buy a HDD and fresh install W10 to the SSD, then go through the whole re-installation process onto the new HDD. That way I’ve got an instant “revert option” should anything ever go TU, just swap the old HDD back in.
I’ve been using Acronis TI to do regular backups (2 x { 1 x full and 2 x diff } ) so all personal files are doubly covered.
I just need to get all the licensing details for ATI, KIS, Desktop Sudoku – you know, all the important ones:). I’ll copy all the others, Office etc, just in case one catches me on the hop. I should also upgrade a few free programmes to paid for, now they’ve proved themselves, but I’ll do that onto the fresh install.
Dave – is it worth joining the Insider Club ( time/effort wise ) and get the Creators Update iso from the get-go, or download the Anniversary update iso, install and then update from there again??
Ed – cheers – network and graphics are on the mobo, so a quick trip to MSI should update those, ditto with Intel.
Cheers all.
My system is giving this a miss for some reason – it starts the download, restarts a few times, then reverts to old OS ( W10 14393 ).
I’m thinking of tidying up my set-up by putting W10CU ( 15063 ) onto the SSD. I had been trying to transfer W10 to an SSD using ” Paragon Migrate OS to SSD 4.0″, but this isn’t successful either, ( missing files or the like ) so I thought about getting the Creators Update as a fresh install. It seems to only be available from the MS Insider Programme. Is this worth joining, or more problems than it’s worth??
The Samsung one John has usb otg and 32gb internal storage, plus an sd. No tablet (out side of a windows surface) had an hdd. Internal storage is the hdd. Well it’s the soldered on solid state.
If it’s there, that’s all good – I was just taking the info off the spec sheet on the Amazon page. :good: I don’t know the tablet at all.
Steve – that one you’ve linked to doesn’t show USB on the connectivity, just Bluetooth. If you click on “compare with similar items” it shows the white A with slightly lower spec – TFT not LED backlight – no HDD only internal storage. Maybe check out another?
We’ve had a stormy morning here so far today, but it’s been all noise. Except for a 15 minute strong drizzle that was enough to chase the dogs into the conservatory, but made no difference to the garden!! It’s sunny now and no trace of the rain on the patio!!
??? to the idea of outside ads.
I wouldn’t get offended by a monthly reminder, or even every 2 months or whichever. We use it and tend to just forget about what puts it there. Mine just went in, so set the alarm now:):) :yahoo:
Don’t you bl**dy dare!!!!!
Too many sites these days are going for animated ads. I could – at a push – tolerate a static ad, ( not here, mind you, this is a peaceful zone, mostly ) but the twitchy, glitzy, sweeping movement of the animated ads drives me insane – literally to distraction. I find I can’t read the info off the page without my eyes darting to see what moved or distracted my attention!
After a few reads of any ( showing ) unread posts, it’s showing all posts in grey ( read ). Thanks
Edit – and a quick refresh showed an unread post in blue. :good:
Cheers Lee – as you say a bit inaccurate at the start, but hopeful for the future. Looking fine.Cheers.?
OK – no problem, maybe just a change of font colour and made bold. Whatever turns out easy. :good:
@admin – Lee, what’s happened to the read/unread option? It’s disappeared from my desktop. I know you’ve been implementing a few changes, is this just an unwanted side-effect??
Pretty please, can we have it back??
Deportation = the action of deporting a foreigner from a country. Where would they have deported the bomber to? He was British and a Mancunian.
Quite so.
One of the problems with some British born Muslims is the fact they are almost caught between two camps. The same was said ( descriptively but unfairly ) about children of mixed race back in the 50’s and 60’s – “They were too black to be white, and too white to be black” so they had problems with both camps and grew up into trouble not thinking they belonged.
This is obviously too sweeping a statement to apply to all, but it indicates the problems experienced by a minority and the often unfortunate outcome for them.
The British born Muslims that then go on to carry out the atrocities we’ve seen over the years, haven’t integrated, seem to yearn for their Homeland and get caught up in ( to their minds ) righteous indignation on their brethren’s behalf, not appreciating the fact that they have a better life here than back home, as their parents seem to do.
The only reason they don’t return home and stay there; though there may well be many that do, we just don’t hear about them; is that they want to seem irrelevant/innocent when they return here with malign intent and destructive training.
That could easily be it – they can’t get their head around the fact that some people just like to get on with life/job/whatever, without getting involved in ( petty ) dramas!!
I only had one setting out of the 5 switched on – I switched that one off as it seemed irrelevant.
