JCD – my point is that it’s already been done better! This was a bunch of amateurs. They couldn’t learn the lessons from those that went before them.
OK – see where you’re coming from:)
But the NRA and UK Gov would have you believe it was a nation state. Would you rather only they were allowed to comment?
Most definitely NOT!!:( Wouldn’t trust either.
I didn’t think people who where born back then still existed today ?
Your time will come, Sunshine, when you eat those words!! ?
Bah humbug — I’m quite happy being 22 (for ever!)
In my head, I am as well……….. I just keep getting mixed messages from the body!!
8 mins later and I can’t edit – bugga!!
Done, and glad to see you’re hoping Forumite will be around for anther 2 centuries.:):) :good:
I’ve been meaning to change my patio door locks for THESE – anti-snap and anti bump. First instinct is to go for the 3* @ £33 a pop, but with two sets of doubles and two singles that’s £200. Still mustn’t scrimp, so I’ll bite that bullet sometime soon when SWMBO brings up the subject of security for when we are away on holiday. On smashing the glass in the doors, that’s a noise many thieves won’t want to risk.
Cheers!! :good:
@admin
OYYY!!! I want to register a complaint on behalf of myself and all the OldPharts on here.
The Year portion only goes back to 1957!!! There were some of us around before then AND still here:):) :yahoo: :good:
Hi Dave – it was intended as an observation on the fact that it now seems it was an amateur attack – including crap code, basic errors as below ( from EdP’s post ) and mistakes.
Most of the whoopsies make it possible to restore files with the help of publicly available software tools. In one case a mistake in the malware’s read-only file processing mechanism does not allow it to encrypt read-only files at all. Instead, the malware creates encrypted copies of the files, while the original files remain untouched and are only given a “hidden” attribute, which is easy to undo
It could then be taken on-board by those perpetrators as a lesson on how to improve it and get it right for next time. Being told where you went wrong gives them the opportunity to issue a better improved MkII version which despite Kasperky et al’s best efforts, will then still catch a lot of people out.
My last sentence – I do realise that Kaspersky and others are using the info to refine their protection algorithms, but there will still be a lot out there with less than basic protection, even after this latest episode. :negative: – was similar to what Ed said – ……….. the Internet is a modern Wild West and they had better come well protected. and what Dave said – It’s those that ignored the freely available information that got caught with their pants down.
That was where I was coming from. :good:
EDIT – I suppose what I’m saying is if the Police explain everything a burglar did wrong, who didn’t realise he’d trodden on a pressure pad and walked through an infra-red beam, setting off a silent alarm, he’ll know what look out for next time and do a better job of burgling!!
One thing that always concerns me is the more publicity that is given to the specific screw ups in the code, the more others get to refine the damn thing so it does a better job next time!! Are the likes of Kaspersky ( and I’m one of their customers ) becoming Beta testers for the script kiddies/criminals. :scratch:
I do realise that Kaspersky and others are using the info to refine their protection algorithms, but there will still be a lot out there with less than basic protection, even after this latest episode. :negative:
Welcome:)
No worries – we went through a similar process, right through to Tribunal, when the wife was first diagnosed and told to stop work, change lifestyle, de-stress etc. Her consultant at the Royal National EN&T hospital backed her case for DLA, ( it would have been at the lower level, as she had mobility, just couldn’t work or get around by herself.) Her GP also backed her claim, but it got refused. It was turned down on appeal and refused at Tribunal. It transpired that it would only have been for a couple of years until all the changes recommended by the consultant had the desired effect but no joy.
That was 2 – 3 crappy years I can tell you, so I totally get how you’re currently feeling.
You’re absolutely right, we were told, by a relative we discovered, who worked for the DWP, that a high percentage of claims were turned back on both application and appeal, playing the numbers so most gave up at that stage, not being either strong enough or durable enough to go through a lengthy and debilitating appeals process. :negative:
Great result – there is some justice!! :good:
Thanks for that link Steve, I liked Edd China – he was the main attraction for me – Mike Brewer was the fluff that filled the schedule. It seems Ant Anstead is going to be working with Mike now. I enjoyed the run of restorations he did with Philip Glenister recently.
As usual I disappeared down the YT rabbit-hole and didn’t resurface for an hour!!
You’ll probably only get at the truth after some enterprising Journalist, who knows what he needs to look at and where that is, puts in an FOI request for details of the Outsourcing, gets refused and then appeals it. When the law tells them to reveal on threat of financial penalties for refusal, they’ll tell as much as they think they can get away with telling us. Otherwise we just get mushroomed!! :wacko: :good:
The tabletop games I had the most fun with were Space Invaders and PacMan!!
However, when I went back home at Christmas after my parents moved to Wales, it was late night/early morning sessions of Mah Jongg, with brother and sil, and/or sister and bil. Card games had become boring/passé and this just added a new level of play that combined the principles of rummy using tiles instead of cards. Great fun. Scoring added a layer of complexity to it, but it could just be played until you got too tired to play.
I think it might be a Standard Vanguard. Friend got one after he passed his test in an old Austin A40 that gave up on him. Replaced a year or so later with a Rover 95, then a Rover 110. Very comfortable motors, great for pulling, but his TR4A was the one that did the trick with the birds. But only good for getting you to somewhere comfortable……… :good:
They were probably also checking you for excess baggage – flying on Ganja Airlines!!:)
Corrected spelling to Ganja from Ganga – out of touch these days!!
I’ve just got THIS – it’s from Amazon, ( not marketplace afaik ) on Prime – ordered yesterday, due today – I thought it was great value for a WD Blue 1TB, 7200, SATA3, 64Mb Cache. It’ll go as an data drive with W10 on an SSD.
I’ve got the Sunday Politics recorded for later viewing so I’ll love that one!!:D {searching for Psycho dagger Emoji}
Turns out it’s Election 2017, not Sunday Politics, so I’ve got that downloaded on Catch up too!!
