She’s got a sh*tty temper, but a good sense of humour – that’s the only reason I’m still on this planet!!?
I didn’t mean it to be taken seriously BS – it was a tease:-):-)
Some of that was familiar, but history was never my thing, that fell to my sister, who did her degree in it along with languages, putting it to good use many years later as an author of historical novels.
When SWMBO calls me a smarta**e, I always tell her opposites attract, so what does that make her??? At that point I swiftly leave the room and shelter with the dogs, cos I’m going to be in their house until dinner time!!??
Quote from Ed’s link –
“The data is a boon for rival organizations developing similar features, as well as criminals who could exploit any weaknesses in the designs to potentially steal millions.”
“The good news is that none of it was banking customers’ data, it was mainly auxiliary data,” Coulls told The Register late last week.”
How can they follow that first statement with the second, …. the individual customers might not get their account fraudulently accessed, but if the main bank lost multi-millions and went bust, all their customers are screwed.
It just worked in FF53.0.3 on Win10 even without logging in. Are you on a VM at all ED – that might make a difference?
I was going to tack this Ars Technica article onto the earlier thread that diverted into human origins, but I could not find it. Joining the dots for known Celt migrations Ireland/Wales- Cornwall – Brittany – Portugal just tack on Morocco and a strong argument could be made that the Welsh are the original inhabitants of the UK.
I’ve always thought that – when the Romans invaded, the UK locals scarpered. Not many people had lived in Wales ( and Scotland ) before, as despite the natural beauty, the weather was horrible. All those that could swim, made it to Ireland and settled there. All those that couldn’t stayed in Wales. All those that headed North, shut the door behind them with a wall.
Simples…….??
To say that anyone that voted leave voted for a hard exit is simply wrong. That’s the Tory spin machine at work, rather than reality. I voted out, and would do so again, but I most certainly did not vote for “No deal is better than a bad deal”, nor did I vote for prolonged uncertainty for EU citizens living in the UK and vice versa.
That’s what at the heart of where we find ourselves currently. Cameron asked the wrong question. He also made the mistake of thinking he knew the answer, before he asked the question.
I said at the time, before the vote, what was needed was a list of twenty or thirty grievances the public at large had with our membership of Europe, not are we in or are we out, that could have been held in reserve. All the “campaigning ” that ensued would then have been to educate the public on the details of each, and any ramifications that they had, eg can’t do this without that happening. We all then voted on five things that were important to us. The teams could then have gone to Europe and negotiated on the top fifteen or twenty. They would then have refined and improved what the public saw as the problems we had with Europe, with Europe in full knowledge that the “whole” of Britain, or at least the 60% that voted, were behind the team.
That way we could have come out with improved conditions without cutting our own throats in one way or another.
All the leaders ( of all persuasions ) that had gone to Europe to negotiate before had come back bigging themselves up on how well they had done, but Maggie was the last one to get anything worthwhile from Europe, because at that time we were a stronger unit negotiating from a stronger position ( relatively speaking ).
Edit – crossed posts with Ed, but I think what he’s saying and what I’m saying are coming from the same place.
PS – Ed, please don’t adopt Richard’s prosaic adaptations of names and titles – I know you love the English language!!??
You might not need a receiver, but what I’ve found in the past was, if you need multiple connections, you’re far better off with a receiver. Some of the all-in-one 5.1 systems are a bit limited with connections.
If you’re looking to plug them all in and leave it set up, I would go the receiver route.
If possible, I try to look at the manuals for a piece of equipment I’m looking to get. This gives you details of all the connections it has, what’s required to switch between them ( instructions on remote control or equipment switches ). The Richer Sounds site has the manual for that Yamaha.
Yes – Canterbury went red for the first time in about 150 years. Shock..Horror….Probe!!! ( As did Kensington and Chelsea – also unbelievable.)
There were a few articles on the local South East News that put it down to youth votes. It is a big University city, and apparently it got motivated.
There will no doubt be some studies coming up about how Social Media and the like, within the youth culture, got them all off their a**es and out to the Polling Booths. It will be something that all parties will need to accommodate in their future electioneering. That’ll be fun to watch!!
Where does your head drift off to, first thing on a quiet morning??!! SWMBO needs to update your outstanding jobs list!!??
Edit – that “possibility” is probably why they dropped the title back in the 60’s.
Yeah, I think it’ll be a decent enough car for the next three years anyhow, just have to order it next week after I figure out the extras I want to add. I’ve an additional £112 a month to add some extras I think so I’ll see what they offer and what’s worth the extra cash.
Maybe spend some having a Tracker fitted. Flashy motor??………Manchester??………….. you just never know!!!! The motor and the batteries are easily converted “currency” in certain circles.
A face for the political future is Ruth Davidson. She came out well from the EU referendum, has called Sturgeon out on several occasions, over several topics, deserves credit for the showing of the Scottish Conservatives this time around and generally is the sensible voice in any debate she joins, and unlike TM, she relishes the debates. I think that’s someone we’ll be seeing a great deal of on the Political landscape to come.
The bit I chuckled at was when TM was outside No 10 after seeing the Queen, they became “…the Conservative and Unionist Party…………….” a title they haven’t used since it was dropped in 1965!!
The biggest shock of all for me is the Kensington and Chelsea result – well situation really as the result is up in the air at the moment.
I worked in Kensington for the best part of twenty years, and actually knew ( as customers ) quite a few people in the local political circle. It was blue to the core, it bled blue.
For the count to be deferred because it was too close to call is unbelievable and to send the counters home because they’re too tired, is unprecedented – at least in recent electoral process.
TT are sending me a “super hub” so need to put that into modem mode or so thing when it arrives.
Steve, I’ve just been checking the Super Router options on TT and they are one of the three shown HERE. The HG633 seems to be ridiculed, the 635 praised highly and the D-Link seems mediocre. See Topic HERE.
If your keeping your Asus router set-up and just using their Router as a Modem, maybe check out which one is the easiest to delve into and set up like that.:-)
Well they’re still not giving any sort of plausible answers. The STORY coming out now from Willie Walsh is full of contradictions and inconsistencies – but we have been promised an investigation.
Looking HERE it seems to align with what you say, time wise. Closest to you geographically on their outage map, is Manchester. Maybe your Fibre broadband is routed through there.
John – just a couple of points, – which back-ups are the latest ones, on the un-attached 1TB drive or on the internal 500GB drive that’s split??
With all the WannaCry Ransomware furore, I’ve made sure to have all my back-ups on an un-attached drive ( mine is currently being replaced as it’s playing up. )
As your set up is at the moment, you’ve opted for the riskier route, as if your only drive fails, you could lose your back-ups too. If it’s Acronis you use – which I think it is – you can set backups of 1 x full backup plus 2 x differentials. You can make 2,3,4,5,6etc versions of this “set”.
When you’re running the SSD with the OS, and the spinner with all your data, it’ll be easier to manage. For peace of mind, always keep an up-to-date back up copy of the data drive that isn’t attached to the computer – what they call “air-gapped”.
Dave – that set me thinking as well, and then I noticed that drive D and F are 1GB drives not 1TB!!:-)
