Keep it as a spare for the next time one of the kids break their phone – you just know that time will come sooner than you want!!
I’ve got to say that I’m liking the 20 Topics per page and the 20 posts per page look and feel, the old 1-9 made for a lot of page changes. Also glad the “eggshell” background has gone – it made my eyes woozy as I scrolled down the page.
Cheers for a job well done over the last month Lee – overall it has a much better look and feel.?
Result!!??
??
As Richard says, see a specialist. More info HERE on why Kwikfit and others are not up to the task.
That’s been on my bookmarks for some time now, along with the live lightning/thunderstorm tracker. HERE. That gets real lively during bad rainy weather ( of which we have lots ) sometimes you can see a lightning strike out of your window and it shows on screen about 2 or 3 seconds later.
Interestingly enough that UK phone number for “Microsoft Support” – 0151 808 0560 – has been reported in the last few days as a spam caller.
The dialogue box contains bad English – Debit and Credit Card Details which is end with(7012) – definitely dodgy.
Coincidentally, I was back at the GP today for the results of blood tests and MRI’s on my knees. Well, the good news is my cholesterol is down from 5.9 ( or thereabouts ) to 3.5 – doc was happy, he said the statins seem to be working. I replied that the stone I’d lost over the last two weeks with shingles could only have helped!! Cynical??? Moi???
The knees contribution to this weeks delights were that the GP is referring me to the Orthopaedic department at the hospital. A bit of granularity under both kneecaps – right much worse – swollen and possibly damaged meniscus on the right and arthritis to both, worse on the right. He reckons a couple of keyhole procedures to remove the crud and some injections to ease the meniscus should resolve the problems. 18 week lead time should give me some time to build up some muscles to aid the situation – we’ll see.
The shingles are still around but seem to be starting to clear. I’ve still got a band of pain 5″ wide from the small of my back round to just past the belly button. He told me to keep up with the painkillers, both the co-codamol for general and the gabapentin for the nerve pain, which has been upped to 300mg tablets instead of the 100mg ones. Had a sleep in the armchair this afternoon and woke up dozier than I’ve felt for a while – could it be I’m in for a good nights sleep tonight??!!
Hoping all is well with you all out there in forumite land!:)
All the best, Bob. Hope it all goes to plan – yours and the surgeons!! See you soon.
You can sell the other old one ( or even the newer one ) as a second hand item, because the purchaser is aware that it had been used previously by another person, and accepts any and all risks.
The new one, if returned as unused would have been re-sold as a return ( unused ) and the purchaser would have been unaware of any previous use. The seller could be liable for any problems caused or mitigated by the “lie”- however unlikely – because he was aware that it had been used. Also selling a used item as unused would be problematic under the Trade Descriptions Act.
April 2, 2018 at 8:11 am in reply to: Is it me or are celebrities in the main not achieving average life spans? #19094It’s that Rock and Roll lifestyle that gets a lot of celebs before their “time”. It’s the one’s like Ken Dodd that have a handle on life – relatively speaking – that seem to live longer.
The last time I answered the mobile and needed the wife to talk to the caller, I got handed the phone back after she finished.
The next day all was very quiet. I ended up, the following day, getting a phone call on the landline, asking me if I’d lost the mobile!! I checked it and instead of just hanging up, she’d managed to switch it into “Airplane Mode”. I check every time I get it back off her now.
Maybe there ought to be a Topic created – Old Pharts in better times…….Mis-spent Yoof…………. and we can post the pictures that defined the times, if not us.
I think George Michael originally developed it.
LOL’s – You’re only saying that because he’s not around to sue you!!?
We were once in Thailand and got a call from our 19/20 yo – ” I’m on the M25 trying to get to Uxbridge, am I on the right heading??”
” Which way round are you going??”
“Don’t know.”
“What was your last exit signed to?”
“Can’t remember.”
“Go on to the next exit, note down the number, then go on to the exit after that, note the number and call me!!”
Kids………..wives……………the list goes on!!
Longer hospital round trips with our daughter are the most tiring because of the strain of her possibly brewing up to a meltdown, seizure or something else. Every safe arrival home is a walk away success.
From when I was volunteering with Mencap and we went out on a few runs in the Mini-bus, I know what you mean and echo the sentiment.
The wife has never seen me without a beard – trimmed close more recently, but still there. Grew it in 75 after I left home in 72.
Her classic description of me was ” the tall guy with the ginger beard and glasses”!!
These days the ginger has gone white, the tall guy is still the same height, but the later generations seem to have grown even taller, and as age has caught up the hairline has started to re-locate from the forehead to the nose and ears!!!!!
I let her hold the tv remote once. It didn’t end well.
A very current issue this one. I went to bed at 12 last night – the wife stays up and does housework and watches TV until her back and hips are “comfortable” enough not to cramp, so she can sleep.
I got woken at 1.30 last night to be told she’d knocked the remote off the table when she was dusting and now there was no volume from the TV!!!! It took a half asleep husband 10 minutes going through menus on the remote and on the TV until I found a menu that offered sound out of the TV speakers!!! Happy I wasn’t!!!
I once gave her a fully automatic Sony camera to take a rare picture of me, it’s me that takes 99% of the photos which is why I’m never in any of them. She held the camera, but before she could press the shutter release, she asked me what the “funny noise” was……………. she’d pressed the concealed button underneath that rewound the film for processing!!!!! I didn’t have a spare film on me as I’d just started a roll of 36!!
Methinks they come from the same mold, Steve!!!
Because we did stupid mileage driving in and out of London every day, I’ve never bothered with this as we had business insurance with virtually unlimited mileage. Over the last few years, as I’ve changed insurers, it became a fact rather than an issue. The only time it caught me out was when I was in to the Marsden two or three times every 3 weeks for chemo, over a 6 month period and then once a month for checkups and/or scans. We may have bust the limit that year, but it was only when I came to renew and they asked the mileage question that I even thought about it.??
Don’t know if i’m being thick or what…………… I’ve looked all over for a chat box to click, but can’t find one. I’ve checked all down the sidebar and the top bar, at the bottom of Home and Latest Replies pages.
Edit – site has slowed down a fair bit.
2nd Edit – 1 minute later it’s back to normal.
