Just to clarify, it wouldn’t get past AnnEd, but I did get it up to Fall Creators ( see below ) and it has been updating nicely since.

Part details of the journey HERE and HERE . There’s a similarity to your situation, but I couldn’t tell you how it happened, just that it did. Which particular aspect of my efforts persuaded it to update is still a mystery.

Mine, that couldn’t get past Anniversary Edition, has now just updated the last 3 or 4 updates without any drama – searching for a tree to cuddle!! – but they have all been relatively minor ones.

That’s why I buy secondhand – if you choose carefully they can come really loaded, for not much more than standard equipped.

We used the MB Approved Used scheme. Took us a couple of months to find one that had all I wanted on it, with the right mileage. I wanted the panoramic roof, bi-xenons ( superb lights ), cruise control and  Sat Nav, and got headlamp washers, voice controlled satnav/media, electric adjusted front seats, heated front seats and a load of others I can’t remember. Patience is the key!!

Yes – I’ve got the panoramic version on mine – it’s superb when the weather is good. It’s got 5 or 6 segments that fold back against each other and slide back, with the front one staying in place but acting as a wind deflector. When I got it second hand 5 1/2 years ago it came well loaded.

@bdthree – In the last post, the quote below the edit I put in a red font. That red displayed in Visual, in Text the quote was surrounded by something like :-

                color : #ff0000

                – which I think is the numeric code for black font – but that thought is dredged up from an old memory from changing the font colour in the old MM forum.

You’re not wrong – all along the suggestions have been, the way to increase your Credit Score is to have completed loan transactions on your record, similarly heavy Credit Card use and repayment.

The wife is “old fashioned” in as much as if she wants something she’ll save for it.

When we were working, the saying used to be “We’ll work a month of Sundays to get the money for xxx….. ” .

She hated credit/catalogues/rolling credit/”interest free loans” etc with a vengeance, having seen her Mum hiding from the “Tally Man” when she was growing up.

I had a big TV and video machine from Radio Rentals back in 1980. When she moved in with me, the first thing she did, after saving some money up, was to return them and buy a smaller TV and an ex-rental video. Saved me a fortune!!

“……………but did not appear to know any active accounts.”

The likely reason it doesn’t show your active accounts is as I posted above – if they’re over 10 years old, they won’t have been told you’ve got them.

Edit – in fact, I’ve just received an email from ClearScore headed “Introducing your personalised offers” .

Find out if you’ll be accepted before you apply
Did you know ClearScore shows you personalised offers across a range of financial products? We remove the guesswork as we show how likely you are to be approved or pre-approved, well before you click apply.

And because we know that your credit score and circumstances change over time, we’re constantly finding you the latest and best offers. So why not take a look now?

Good to hear – well done.

It makes a hell of a difference on medium to long runs. I occasionally open the sun roof an inch or so once in a while on the journey – refreshes the air – then let the air con stabilise the temp again.

@jayceedee Are you sure. Seems goo to me. Was you in the text version or the visual version of the editor.

It was in the original post that I tried it, it showed red in the “Reply To” box, but when the post went live, it was all black.

I only used the Edit box to advise you – never tried to re-do the red font.

Well, I’ve just got an answer back from Clearscore – seems I had it right above.

                        How ClearScore works
It’s important to note that ClearScore is not a credit credit reference agency, and lenders do not use ClearScore to carry out credit checks on you.

We provide you with access to the credit data that Equifax hold on you, which banks and lenders will use when assessing your credit worthiness.

Lenders will not be able to see how ClearScore is showing your credit information to you. So if there is something not quite right in how we’re displaying your information, this will not have any effect on your credit worthiness.

Their later reply to the problem of the missing bank account is this:-

If the account is more than 10 years old, it could be missing from your report because it is unlikely that the credit reference agencies will still hold this older data.

So the account I opened in 2016, but never used, is showing, but the one I’ve had for nigh on 25 years, ( 50 if you take into account a few branch changes ) doesn’t show because it’s too old!! Oh well, at least I know now.

Edit – @bdthree – In the reply box when writing this post, I changed the font colour, to highlight their answer, but when I submitted it, the whole post came out in black.:(

Checking the web for similar faults on merc’s, highlights one of the ABS wheel sensors failing or, believe it or not, the brake light switch. It seems the brake light switch has more than one set of contacts and if one set fails ( even though the brake lights still work! ) can bring about similar fault codes.

These failures can put the ECU into “limp” mode – but that is at least supposed to get you home, albeit slowly!!

One thing you could try is the substitution test. Check in your manual, and on the car, and look for another relay on the car – horn, wipers, heated rear window, main beam, – for one with exactly the same terminals and pin layout.

The theory is you don’t need any of the above to start a car – only when it’s on the road. You can do it one of two ways, put the proven working relay  in the DME slot and give it a try, or the old DME relay in the other accessory slot and see if that works.

Please bear in mind I’m not an auto electrician, I just messed around with them in my youth, which was a long while back now!!! I did work for BT, pre-electronic exchanges, on equipment that was nothing but relays – hence the substitution protocol !!

I feel your pain looking for a cheap ( realistically priced ) way round – mine’s a Merc!!

Don’t bother with breakers – try EuroCarParts, search for DME Relay, put your reg no in and see what price new ones are – I checked for mine and the dearest was £25. If it doesn’t work, you might get your money back or at the very least, a credit note!!

If this were a horn relay in a car, the idea is a high current wire is connected to 30, when the horn button inside the car is pushed it connects an earth to 85 which completes the ( low current ) circuit that powers the relay. The relay operates and extends the high power to 87, which sounds the horns.

The reason relays were introduced was to stop arcing on the horn button, a light duty switch, and let the high speed relay contacts do the high current switching. They’re also used for dipped and main beam flashing etc.

What does this come from, the terminal numbers are off a little from the norm?

I’ve just joined Clearscore on a “check it out” basis – they seem to be a pale facsimile of Equifax, more of a gateway to Equifax information. It’s good that it’s free, but I needed a credit report from Equifax or Experian, so we’ve joined Equifax for free for the month and hope all the paperwork gets sorted out within that month!!

Clearscore did show all the mortgages, but only an inactive bank account, so I’ve emailed them to tell them about the active one and the Saver Account so we’ll see how much attention/care they show when it’s free.
