Good luck with both of those. Hopefully they will lead to a successful outcome and a better quality of life for all three of you.
I’ve seen similar supported living and the people involved were superb and the results heartwarming. I hope your daughter finds a situation like that. ?
Now it’s cheap, my entry level is 240Gb as 99% of people can live with that and do no housekeeping whatsoever for the lifetime of their device. God knows why I upgraded to 512Gb myself, I must have succumbed to Contagious Butleritis
Being “in the trade” means you have to be that 1 ( or 2 ) steps ahead of the pack that extra month ( or 6 ) ahead of time. At least, that’s what you can tell the Mrs when the buckshee 120Gb SSD that floats her way isn’t enough!!???
I’ve got 2 x i7 base stations up in the loft that are under the same remit. They’re our sons, but he does most of his work on a high end W10 laptop, the latest iPad and an iPhoneXS. His flatmate has a high end VR setup in a spare bedroom as he’s into mixing music for gigs and all sorts of cutting edge stuff that pass over my head, so he has no need for one at home. When they went up there they were more powerful than my setup here, but now, they’re just tech clutter, waiting to go the way of all tech!!
Problem is, they have his past work and life on them, so it will be a transfer and dispose job when the time comes. Good job storage fees are acceptable ( ie free!! ).
Just been to Aldi’s and they’ve got Felinfoel at £1.29 for a bottle of their ESB.
It says there’s a fruity aftertaste, with hints if caramel, cherry and toffee apple. It’s a very pleasant, not too heavy, flavourful taste. Definitely one I’ll try again – got three bottles for tasters, I was that confident. I’ve always liked Felinfoel and when I stayed in Wales at my parent’s house I’d go off in search of a local that served Double Dragon.
For a Londoner that hadn’t been lucky enough to have had some of the ales that were available in Wales at the time, but nowhere in sight in London, it was a rare treat. They came eventually when CAMRA and Real Ale took off but my bi-annual trips to Wales were made better for it.??
An interesting perspective cropped up in my “car or van” search for a builder friend. HERE. It seems vans can get expensive to insure nowadays – alright the article is from 2014 but I doubt there’s been a downward trend in any insurances since then.
He’s just starting to get busy and only has an ’04 Ka, so is running out of room when he’s carrying a lot of tools/materials. I’ve recommended, like Honest John, something sized like the Berlingo, good passenger transport and fold the seats for more room. It’s also rated in the Top 10 most reliable used vans HERE – only bettered in the MPV based vans by the VW Caddy.
…I’m anticipating a Newky Brown taste ( disturbingly dark?? ).
Well I tried one sitting in front of the tele after dinner tonight, it was smooth, not un-pleasant, but a bit rich for me, which is strange, considering I spent a lot of my early/middle years drinking a poor man’s Black Velvet – Cream Label/Mackeson and Cider. Followed by a good few middle years on Draught Guinness or real ale. When I’d had enough volume in beer, I’d then go on to the spirits. I’m now mostly a scotch/brandy drinker who sometimes dives fondly into bottles of beer for a side.
I won’t throw the other one away, but I won’t be getting any more.
How do I tell them that my go-live date has already passed?
Probably a waste of time telling them anything. As part of my broadband deal I was given an ‘essential sim’ free of charge which is designed for light users. In April I was assured on ‘on-line chat’ that as long as I remained a broadband/telephone customer the sim would remain free. Since September they are now charging £3 per month. (Still good value but that isn’t the point). I phoned to complain and spoke to a lady in Durban SA (!) but of course got nowhere.
Tell them they’re breaching their contract and you want out – ask for a PAC number, you don’t have to use it, but you’ll be on to their “leaving” department who have lots of options open to them to induce you to stay.
Dunkel Fester is lovely. Aldi usually get a load in for Halloween and they usually have loads left so they ship them out cheap. Last year I bought about 40 bottles for £20, the manger wanted shot of them so did me a deal if I took them all.
Yes, that’s where she was.
Sensible fellows ( both )!! ??
The wife was shopping yesterday and saw this…

On a side note, I love the labels they’re coming out with. Someone with a sense of humour and design!!
The MS desire to coral users to use (suffer?) only MS chosen programs is a bit of a pain, but it has drawn adverse comment elsewhere before.
Yes, the general desire to ram Bing and Edge down your throat – or to presume that you want them without first asking – is a true pain.
As are the additional dross on the start menu!! Connect, Game Bar, Groove, Mail, Messaging, Mobile Plans, Mixed Reality, People, Snip and Sketch, Xbox plus all the game demos.
What really irritates me is that I use Winaero’s Windows 7 games for Windows 10. I hate the app versions – they just don’t feel right, never mind MS pushing for extras. Practically every time there is an update I lose these programmes and I lose the shortcuts from the taskbar. It’s no great shakes to set everything back to as before – I’ve kept the exe in the download folder, but it feels like MS are being petty because it isn’t their version.
?
You’ll always get a know-it-all who’ll blame anyone to justify whatever he does to solve the problem. It’s a classic power play – if that’s his bag. Put the customer down and then you’re in charge.
Check the cost of the pcb independently, he could be setting you up for a big bill.:(
Good luck.
I tried ( and bought, unfortunately ) Paragon Migrate OS to SSD, but it failed multiple times because of ” Missing Files” – well good luck trying to sort out which ones were missing.
At the time, I was having problems updating W10 to the latest version. I was on Anniversary and wanted to get to Fall Creators, but my machine was having none of it.
It was time to download the latest version, install it to my SSD and then re-install all my favourite programmes. It was a chore, it took a while, but the system has been flying ever since. Go for it!!
PS – I kept my old drive in there as a spare which would have produced a working system on its own. I transferred Docs Pics and Vids to a spare drive and just have some tidying up left to do.
☺☺
Y……. clicking “Add to Dictionary” but can’t remember how I did that.
when the word is underlined in red, right click and the option to “add to dictionary” is there.
That’s the best way to manage wives – at a distance – for their sanity and our safety!!
That’s one less English US convert in the world
One down, how many billion to go??
No, it’s part of the United Kingdom so there free to roam
How long for – we should require visas off them. We’re only United for as long as they want to stay, and it seems to be more than just a vociferous minority!! Whether that will change post-Brexit will have to be seen.?
Should be able to remove everything but UK English now.
Removed English US and moved English down, leaving English UK at the top of the list for language and spellcheck.
Thanks?
