It seems to be the same all over – last week my friend came out after a week in hospital. Something that will resonate with Bob, he went in with internal bleeding. It turned out it was from an ulcer in his oesophagus, caused by acid reflux eating away at the digestive tract aided by one of his heart meds. So a change of heart meds, transfusions and blood tests.
When he was well enough to come home he had to wait two and a half hours in the discharge lounge ( sound like a very comfortable toilet!! ) waiting for his multiple meds and when they got home half of them were wrong!!
Cheers, Lee. That’s good to hear – welcome back, Bob!!
On some new phones you need to look in the apps and put the music icon onto one of your home screens.
Undoubtedly there are bargains to be had, but my take on it after browsing the ‘deals’ is that it’s all a glorified marketing exercise, with the big figure, headline grabbing deals supported ( if not over-compensated ) by multiple purchases of minimum discounted items – or in fact, price increases.
I’ve had my eyes on THESE for the last week for our now finished en suite. I went ahead and ordered them, then discovered the wife wanted to wait for a Black Friday deal, so I cancelled them within 5 minutes. Well, come Black Friday I checked them out and the double is still £39.99 but the single is now £24.99, up from £19.99!!
My monitor stand I got for £23.99, a NEWER version ( only marginally different ) is showing on the deal as down from £34.99 to £26.39!!!
It’s all very reminiscent of Dixons’ year round sales of years gone by!!
The free secure connection is limited to 300mb / day.
I thought that I’d give Kaspersky Secure Connection a try and the first thing I noticed was that as it was pretending to be in Amsterdam, Forumite thought I was a Johnny Foreigner and kicked me out. Haven’t bothered after that!!
Thanks Lee – it’s good to hear he’s OK, not so good to hear he’s down with an infection. Pass on our best wishes for him on his road to recovery.
I’ve got a friend in a similar situation – just ambulanced to hospital with internal bleeding and a fever. Turns out he has a UTI and side effects from blood thinners – he’s waiting for a blood transfusion, anti-biotics and salts. He’s the one hoping to have a stoma reversal – something that’s looking further away than one would have wanted. I’m picking their dog up tomorrow to give his wife a clear schedule for the hospital over the next few days.
Had the chair for about a month now and all positive so far. The wheels are that smooth, if your legs touch the seat pad before your ar5e, it can slide back – less likely on carpet – so a hand on one of the arms makes sure you aren’t sitting down onto a vacant space!!
There’s a rocking mechanism that says it gives you about 15 degrees of movement – it feels more like between 5 and 10 – along with a recliner that you can lock in various positions. It’s been that comfortable I’ve even had the odd kip on it.?
Well, a bit of progress – phase one completed. I’m still using the old desk, now modified, but it’s looking a lot neater overall.
Got myself THIS computer chair and solved the floor problem with THESE. I have to say they work extremely well and haven’t left a mark on the floor.
I removed the top shelf that carried the monitors and replaced it with THIS , needing to add one of THESE as one monitor didn’t have VESA screw holes. ( It’s a bit untidy as I could only remove the base and not the stem!!? )

Happier me, happy wife – bliss!!!
Bob – it’s a good job she didn’t have the local SnapOn agent’s number – you’d have been on egg and beans on toast for the next year, and what that would produce in your stoma bag doesn’t bear thinking about!!??
Mark – I think that’s going to be one of those presents you buy yourself – cuts out the justification argument.??

It’s a difficult time to spend awaiting the outcome of a loved-one’s operation – really sensible of you to have some distractions to hand, the tablet and the dogs will be a godsend when your mind is in need of a diversion.
How you care for her is often more important than just caring – by that, I mean that the wife nearly drove me mad when looking after me when I was ill – she was so glad that I was still around I could do no wrong and could have whatever I wished for. That was fine for the first few days, but that novelty wore off very quickly. In a nutshell, care – don’t fuss!!
Good luck seems inadequate, but you’ll need a lot of it going forward.
Hoping for the best of outcomes for you, Bob. (

Happy Days!
………or even nights!!!???

In this context it is interesting to see how good customer-supplier relationship models have had their wheels come off in recent years, yes insurance industry I have you in my sights.
I couldn’t agree more – however there may be some ‘green shoots’ showing. I changed my car insurance supplier last year and got a hefty reduction, down from £500 to £290 so I fully expected a rise this year . Imagine my surprise when it went down again, this time to £260.
There might be hope for the industry yet – or is that just too optimistic??
Following Wasbit’s link, I ended up down the YouTube rabbit-hole and came across THIS.
This years World Championship of Close Up Magic winner. I thought it was pretty amazing, close-up magic, without the assistants and big props.???
I just bought one of THESE for our son – he already has a set of panels on the wall for “mood” – seems he wants a disco show too!!!He’s got an iPhone, flatmate’s got an Android plus they have Alexa or similar. Spoilt for choice to control them or right for a wind-up!!?
A big “Thanks” to PM ( and his Mum ) – the G5 is doing me a treat. Just a bit bigger than my Sony without being too big a leap. Mostly all set up now, just a few little tweaks left to do – like getting used to the new Notification sounds!! ???
Sorry but I do not know how to put the below as Boris did with ‘here’ on his opening post.
On the ‘ribbon’ below the words Insert, Format,Tools you’ll see a paperclip icon. Highlight the word you want to use for the link, Copy the url ( the bit you’ve used in your post ) from the address bar of the webpage you’re linking to, click the paperclip icon and Paste into the box, then click the arrow to ‘apply’ the link to your post. ??
Ikea may be iconic/antique in years to come, but you’ll miss the best opportunity to utilise any MFI furniture if you don’t hurry up and build that bonfire soon……………!!???
This year must be close to the 50th anniversary of the last time I holidayed under canvas. The family were off to Ireland with a 4-man ridge tent, stopping off at West Wales to visit sister at Bangor Uni. We set up atop a cliff and settled down for the night.
It hammered down and soon the tent was waterlogged, the ground sheet sitting on a flow of surface water, the sleeping bags soaked. I vowed never again, Mum and Dad agreed so Ireland camping became Ireland B&B!!
