Is he still telling the one about insurance.

Yes – he’s updated the claims forms to include modern technology like SatNavs and Mobiles.

Yes, he certainly is – I was transported back 20 years!! Proper situational humour – recounting events/stories with hilarious outcomes and just plain hilarious all round.

I don’t miss it at all but also have no issues with people still smoking around me – outside. I’m not sure I could deal with a smokey pub like they used to be.

The wife says the same. She thought that so long as she was doing what she wanted ( vaping ) she didn’t care about the smokers, and it wouldn’t matter being around smokers and smoke, however, when we went to see Jasper Carrott last month during the interval we nipped outside. I found that whereas I didn’t mind being among the vapers, she found that the smoke from the smokers was unpleasant ( probably due to the concentration ) and much to my relief we moved away from that pack. Others did too and you could see the different cliques with a little separation between them.

She says that so long as she’s vaping she doesn’t miss smoking, similar to when she swapped sugar for artificial sweeteners she didn’t drink a coffee and wonder where the sugar was.

Is that because you’ve managed to stop smoking?? If so, very well done. I know how hard that will have been because the wife went through that 4 years ago. She vapes for England these days, but that is so much better less harmful for her.

Her COPD has improved over the years and she has seen some 10% improvements some years when she has her Spirometry tests.

Hope it lasts – keep up the good work!!???

Talking to some Americans after our guided tour of the Basilica and Doge’s Palace in Venice. They were interested in going to London next year and they wondered if there was anything as old there?

The wife likes to tour historic places and when we were in Florida the Tourist Offices all made a big thing about St. Augustine.

We drove down there for a day trip and it was a real let down!! She said that we’d driven through older, historic places on the way to Cornwall or the New Forest or East Anglia, in fact you could drive 50 miles in any direction from just about anywhere in the UK and you’d find one.

Virgin came knocking at our door the other day – they’ve been cabling up our local villages over the last year. They wanted to know whether I was interested in their service. I told them that if they thought they could leave my front drive in the same state they left the roads and pavements, they had another think coming. ??Sent him off with a flea in his ear.

I can only assume forumite and BDThree have a cable connection hiding some where.

Not quite. 🙂 When Lee is working on the Forumite website he doesn’t need someone logging in to it so he ( effectively ) takes Forumite offline to work on it. While he is doing that anybody trying to access Forumite shouldn’t just sit there with nothing happening, so he re-directs traffic to his site. It is very much a temporary measure while he’s doing updates/upgrades.

You don’t park your car in the Garage Workshop, but you take it there when it needs a service. ( sort of )!!

It’s a bit like going to a neighbour’s house for a cuppa, but leaving a note on the front door for anyone that stops by to visit you.

found it very strange how it directed to BDThree web?

John – that’s Lee’s website, so you were  probably  re-directed there ( a holding page? ) while he was working on the Forum site.

Well – it just shows you’re never too old to learn!!  I never realised that gas tumble dryers were a thing or even existed prior to today, despite, so it seems, most Launderettes using them. Google brought me up to speed!

………..whilst B&Q have dropped their Over Sixties discount on Wednesdays. Someone should tell me the sense in that, I can’t work it out!

Cheers, Bob. Yes, that ticked me off as well and so consequently I don’t use them so much  anymore. When I’ve been working on houses, I used to organise all purchases to be made on Wednesdays and now I just buy wherever is cheapest across the board for the same product – God Bless the internet!!

I was not so happy with LEDHut however as they seemed to use Chibay sources as bulb shrouds etc often detached when trying to fit a bulb.

Thanks Ed. Not had any fall apart but those that had blown had always been speedily replaced – at times without the need to send the blown one back – but perhaps that policy may have caught up with them.

                          Thanks all!!??

Must admit that I have been using Amazon instead of LED Hut for a long while now. Prime gave me 24hour service at competitive rates, and was not sending me junk mail every week!

I get all my bulbs at Screwfix via my leccy grandson’s trade account.

How are they both on returns for faulty bulbs, because LED Hut excelled at that?

Brexit cretins have turned their backs during the EU National Anthem. Perhaps someone should point out to these NF idiots that is a REALLY GREAT way to start any negotiations!.

Also looking for good ideas how to hang that box on the wall easily.

Try THESE – they’ll mount the box to the wall but make it easily removable if needed in the future for maintenance/upgrades!!?

Both work at full speed so it must be the Huawei itself. I suspect the CPU just isn’t up to it.

Maybe it’s prioritising bandwidth sending all that info home to China before it delivers it for you or your customer!!??

+1 for Patient Access – the wife and I are both registered on it.

My tablets are issued 4-weekly, so I order the next lot after two weeks. That gives the doctors and the chemist leeway if there are any hold ups or delays. I set a 4 weekly reminder for that on the phone using Google Calendar, that way, I can get reminders on the desktop too if I wanted them, but the phone works fine for me.

Well, I tried the troubleshooter and it didn’t improve the situation, so there was an option of “get help” on the Settings page so I thought I’d try that.

The MS agent asked if I wanted to let him take over and check up, which I declined. He then ran me through a couple of commands in cmd ( admin mode ) which I ran,

                                      net stop wuauserv

                                      cd %systemroot%

                                      ren SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

                                      net start wuauserv

                                      and

                                      net stop cryptsvc

                                      ren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 Catroot2.old

                                      net start cryptsvc

did a re-start and nothing had changed.

This afternoon I decided to do it manually and d/l’d Windows 10 Update Assistant, set it to run and when it had d/l’d everything restarted twice and I’m now on 1903 OS Build 18362.175.

Happy camper for the time being. Happiness will be continued if it keeps preparing to update itself as needed.

The phone accessed the internet straight off the bat, so it seems no WiFi problems.

Sorry, but I do not agree with the Tory apologists who have posted,

Ed – that’s the last thing in this world that I could be accused of!!? As related by the events my son found himself in, it’s instinctive to react back for certain people.

women are becoming far more organised and militant in punishing any perceived chauvinistic actions.

The wife thinks that these ‘FemiNazis’ as she calls them actually do women a dis-service. Her words ( para-phrased )”We asked for equality and we should deal with it whatever circumstances it arrives under. You can’t cherry pick the scenario or the details!!”

Had it been a guy who had had his arm twisted behind his back and escorted out it wouldn’t have lasted more than a couple of news cycles. Bottom line they were trespassing into a private function with the intent to disrupt. Barring physical damage, they got what they deserved. They also got what  they wanted – the full glare of publicity and public ‘sympathy’, which was why there were a very high ratio of women to men. On the footage of them running up the stairs, I only saw 2 guys dressed in DJ’s, the rest were women.

Kaspersky seems to play well with Windows Defender, in fact Defender senses when Kaspersky is off-line updating etc.

Putting myself in his place, following everything from Jo Cox to the harassment outside Parliament to the Milkshake brigade, I think he did the right thing wrongly.

Having said that, however, had she been carrying anything from a talc container of anthrax to a drinks bottle filled with acid, he would be proclaimed as the hero of the hour.

They are all saying he needs anger management, but that is belied by his words and his tone at the time. If you listen as he passes the camera you can hear him say “…….escort this person out of here.” Those aren’t the words of someone with anger issues!!

The act of stepping up is both immediate and instinctive for some people. Yesterday my son intervened when someone attacked a server in Starbucks. He stepped in and prevented the idiot from hurting anybody but got some milk ( cold luckily ) thrown over him for his troubles. We asked him, what if they had been carrying a knife? His reply was similar to this guys comment, you just don’t think – you just do.
