Good to hear – it was just a little order as the week ahead looks fine and there are a few garden jobs outstanding at the moment.
Looking for some garden paint for the benches, etc, so I’ll see if that’s on there.
Order placed. :good:
This would be in-line with their evident desire to generate herd immunity in a controlled manner.
🙂 🙂
Cheers, Lee – as per edit of first post, it’s back to normal now.
I was checking mouse batteries, different programs etc. Well at least it kept the old grey matter mobile!! :yahoo:
They’ve been wittering on about the uptick in private car journeys on the graph representing all journeys, but surely there’s a correlation when you’ve been told to stay off public transport, and various aspects of that system have been shut down or severely restricted, so those numbers have decreased, then surely it comes as no surprise that you’ll choose your own private, un-infected, non-germ spreading mode of transport to go out for shopping, meds or exercise, against the mass transit offerings.
Now I know they’re justified in moaning about the weekend trips to the coast or country, but surely they realise that statistically, if nothing else, when public transport journeys decrease, despite the lockdown and without breaking the rules, private car journeys will increase.
Or am I wrong??
Hi Lee, I’m trying to use the site on my PC and the pages are unclickable, for want of a better word.No parts of the page are active, and the cursor stays as the arrow. My PC is fine as the cursor works as expected on other tabs in chrome, tabs in Firefox and Thunderbird, all as it should. It’s just the Forumite site ( Latest Replies page ) that isn’t working.
I’ve had to dig out the Pad to post this.
Edit – OK, you must have been in the middle of something as I’m back on the PC now – 1 minute later.!!
Cheers
Just remember, that if you need to dial 999 in the dark, you’ll need four fingers, not two!!! :good:
@bdthree – Lee, are you working on the site??
Have lost the tick and crosses from the page and there is my logo and yours, but they’re a lot bigger than normal and blurred. I though I’d been logged out again, but the LogOut tab was there on the bar!!
Edit – you must be cos they’re back now. I’ll go to bed for now and leave you in peace!!
Great to hear, Bob – now concentrate on getting better for a few days not playing catch up!! Despite advice to the contrary (!! ) those jobs really can wait.
If you’d told me earlier, I’d have remembered too!! Hope it was a good one.
I’m impressed by the Positive Pressure inhaler, that might mitigate the need for invasive ventilation.
Out of patent, reverse engineered, improved, re-designed and manufactured with type approval. All within a week.
Oxford University, UCLH hospital and Mercedes F1. A truly typical British collaboration!!
Details HERE .
In case the above sounded like gloating, it was more of a natural justice for his/their unfeeling herd immunity stance initially.
There is a god – Dominic Cummings is showing symptoms!!!!
That’s good to hear, well done. There seems to be more Forumite members ‘out West’ than in the rest of the country!!
Best wishes for a safe return.
You will all just have to suffer my wit and wisdom again 😂
Congrats on resolving the case, welcome back, and don’t worry , we’ll cope somehow!!
PM – I wasn’t saying you shouldn’t go out ( in case that was what you were thinking I said ) but was just rallying against the system that on one hand tells you to do one thing and on the other puts obstacles – or doesn’t remove them ) in your path to prevent you from doing it!!
Not because there are some great B roads with national speed limits that my little car was built for……..
That’s what internal combustion engines were invented for!!!
I’ve tried to get a delivery slot but there is nothing available, not even click and collect from any supermarket (as of 5pm anyway).
That’s the ridiculous part of the equation. We are being told to self-isolate, but in order to facilitate that instruction, we need food, so need to ( go out and ) shop.
We shouldn’t go out (as per advice/instruction ) but we can’t get a food delivery. I’ve just tried Tesco online and there are no delivery slots up to 14th April, so at least more than three weeks to wait. Their web page is sh*t telling you that if you’re vulnerable to add a note to the delivery instructions, but you can’t proceed as there are only three tabs to go for, one week each.
Don’t get me wrong, we’ve been shopping and have an adequate supply for at least 2 -3 weeks, and we can still go out, but how can those who have to stay in cope without the help of others, who are already busy helping the vulnerable category of folks??
It ain’t easy!!!” :negative:
As Ed says, that’s a shame – it seems as if we’ll look back on 2020 and it will be the year that keeps cropping up in quizzes as the year ***** didn’t take place, be it sporting events or whatever. 🙁
The roads here, and everything else, are definitely quieter. The Thanet Way between here and Whitstable is almost deserted, quieter during a weekday than a normal Sunday.
Our road would usually qualify as a busy-ish side road, but not much at all throughout the day now. Biggest bonus is we’ve lost the school run and all the parking, noise and other problems we normally get twice a day.
One thing that I will never understand is the parents – usually Mums, but not always – who off-load the babies/kids from the car onto the road instead of using either of the two good pavements available.

We had our walk on the beach yesterday and stopped in Aldi for a top-up shop. Got 90% of what we needed an the only problem we had was the person who thought the six foot gap in the queues had been ready made for him to insert himself. :negative:
